Protasis
Or how they met one fine day and he proposed a deal,
A shake of hands and stories exchanged, that bargain they did seal
And during a walk on a summer night,
she did discover love's sweet delight,
For with his words and deeds, her heart he did steal.
But for this daring theft, he paid a willing price,
His heart he surrendered, without thinking twice,
A match made in heaven, it did seem
A future together, they did dream,
Till Destiny turned their chance and twisted a choice.
Epitasis
All the time that Heaven allowed them and a little more,
They had a lifetime, they thought, to love, cherish and adore.
But the path of love never runs smooth,
It is a rocky road, full of trials, forsooth,
As they found out what Destiny, for them, had in store.
Oh, what a cruel stroke, what heart wrenching pain,
As all her desperate fervent pleas, went in vain.
For when hope dies, it is tough to believe,
Impossible to see beyond what you perceive,
To remember that even if memories fade, love does remain.
Beneath all that forgetfulness, his love lay, though buried deep,
While she remembered, she strove, her love hidden, to keep.
But love would always find a way,
Do what you want or what you may,
It burns with renewed vigour, for it was not dead, just merely asleep.
Catasis
And when life hands you that rare second chance,
Will you just think it to be a happy circumstance?
Would you simply go with the flow,
Or will you, caution to winds throw,
And tango, yet again, to fickle destiny's dance?
Or would you, still reeling from the bitter past,
Cling to those old memories, hard and fast;
To possibility, close your eyes,
Accept what your heart denies,
That love, like everything, forever does not last.
The tussle between old memories and new desire,
Will surely set both the mind and the heart on fire;
When love beckons again,
It could be worth the pain,
To gamble your heart , to risk it all, as the fates again conspire.
