January: The next day
Kaycee and Tahani's apartment
The friends usually have breakfast, lunch, and dinner together with understandable exceptions liked dates, out of town, etc...
Even Josh would come from all the way from his place just to eat breakfast with them
"Oh, the food's already ready!" Julian said as he and Sean still in their pajamas went into their neighbor's apartment
"Yeah Josh had an early call time so we decided to get a jumpstart on breakfast," Kaycee said as instead of the food being made when they arrived it was already made
"Let's try it!" Sean said eating a piece of bacon "Wow! Kayc you got so much better!"
"I made it," Tahani said placing a plate in front of the two boys as she continues to finish things up in the kitchen
"Well that makes more sense," Julian said now eating without worry "It would make no sense if Kaycee made something good"
"I hate you," Kaycee said
"Love you too Kayc," Julian said
"Hey see it this way," Sean said to Kaycee "You now have an excuse to give him food poisoning"
"Yeah, you're rig- Hey!" Kaycee said playfully shoving Sean at the joke as they kept eating
"Morning!" Josh said with a yawn as he and Bailey entered the apartment
"Good morning," Tahani said passing them both plates as the other three just waved as they kept eating
"Who cooked?" Josh asked
"I did" Tahani answered
"Okay good," Josh said as he turned to Bailey for the approval "It's safe"
"Haha good," Bailey said as she also yawned and took a seat
"I get it I'm not that good a cook!" Kaycee said tired of all the bad cooking comments
"What's with the yawning? Late night?" Sean asked
"You could say that," Josh said sipping his orange juice
"So, what's the plan today?" Julian asked everyone "We already know Josh's"
"Oh, I'm helping out at a theatre to help some dancers with their moves," Kaycee said "They're just struggling with the placements since they keep running into each other"
"I got an audition," Tahani said "Hopefully for an actual artist but who knows"
"Helping choreograph for this music group," Sean said "Another boy group wants me to make them dance like k-pop stars"
"I'm teaching a class later," Julian said "I'm going to make a new combo so I'll probably be working on that until then"
"Wow you all sound busy" Bailey said
They all glanced at each other "Eh!" They all said
"Well as dancers unless we're on tour or something then our work days are short, like two hours on the job then that's it," Kaycee said "It's good as it pays well enough but they're just so infrequent"
"Yeah even my classes are not even two hours," Julian said "So I try to teach as much as possible but I'm lucky if I get four classes a week"
"It only gets complicated if you're doing something like Josh who is this creative director so he has more to do than just worry about the dancing," Tahani said
"Yeah, the setting, props, all the background elements like lights and sounds are what really take most of my time," Josh said
"Or with my job where it takes more than 2 hours to choreograph a dance with a diverse group of people," Sean said "Some are really good dancers, and some can't even spell rhythm"
"So many differences despite you all being dancers" Bailey commented
"Alright I got to go," Josh said finishing his food "See you all later"
"Lunch?" Kaycee said
"Most likely," Josh said putting his plate away grabbing his stuff and leaving "See ya"
"Bye!" Bailey said as another yawn slipped out
"What's with the yawning?" Tahani said
"Nothing, Josh and I just slept together," Bailey said as she drinks some of her juice
"What?!" was the consensus response
"... Oh, not like that" Bailey said seeing the confusion "When he was giving me the tour of the place we ended up in his room talking on his bed you know just trying to get to know one another and eventually we fell asleep on his bed at like 4 in the morning"
"Oh, that sounds more normal," Sean said as the shock wore off "So I guess that talk was something special"
"It doesn't have to be too special, I mean when we first met we talked all night," Kaycee said to Sean which earned a raised eyebrow from Bailey
"Yeah then we fell asleep on your couch throughout the day so our sleep schedules were messed up for weeks with only us awake at the same time," Sean said as they laughed
"So, Bailey what's the plan?" Tahani asked "You're going to need a job to live in the city"
"Yeah, I know, but I'm in no rush, I got a good chunk of money from the divorce" Bailey said "Besides I don't know what I want to do yet"
"You could just join one of us, so you won't be alone in the apartment all day," Kaycee said
"Yeah my class is later you could assist me?" Julian brought up
"I don't know I kinda just want to explore the city," Bailey said
"Makes sense," Sean said finishing his food and putting the plate in the sink "Alright I got to go get ready"
"Alright," Tahani said
"Wait I've never seen your apartment," Bailey said also putting her plate away but in a more rapid fashion
"Sure, you can get a quick tour," Sean said as the two left to go across the hall
"Do you think..." Julian said "Never mind"
"Do we think what?" Kaycee asked curious to what Julian was going to say
"That Bailey might like Sean," Julian said
"Her eyes did seem to light up at the chance to see his room," Tahani said
"No," Kaycee said
"Hm?" Julian pushed
"No, she's not interested in him," Kaycee said taking a bite of her pancakes "Besides there's no way he would be interested in her"
"If I didn't know any better I would say you sound jealous Kayc," Julian said as both he and Tahani laughed at Kaycee's facial expression
"Good thing you do know better," Kaycee said
Sean and Julian's apartment
"Well this is the kitchen area it's a little smaller which is why we're always at Kay-" Sean started
"You like Kaycee!" Bailey said
"Shut up!" Sean's said covering Baileys mouth "Literally next door"
"You do!" Bailey said as her inner teenager came jumping out "What's the tea, I need to know everything!"
"Nothing! If you don't want a tour just head back over so I can change" Sean said
"Come on what's going on who's Gabe and why aren't you with her!" Bailey said
"I need to get ready, why don't you let Julian or Tahani get you caught up on everything," Sean said entering his room and shutting the door
"Fine" Bailey said having no problem with that as she walks right back over to the other apartment
Kaycee and Tahani's apartment
"Okay Julian if you leave after Tahani please lock the door," Kaycee said gathering her things so she can leave
"Yeah yeah" Julian waved off her instructions as he keeps watching TV
"I'm back!" Bailey said in a sing-song voice
"Bye!" Kaycee said leaving as Bailey opened the door
"Wow that was fast" Bailey commented
"Well she forgot about how long it takes to get to the theatre from here so she should have left when Josh left," Tahani said joining Julian on the couch
"Okay good this is actually perfect," Bailey said sitting between the pair on the sofa
"What is?" Julian asked
"Okay I need an update or a summary on what happened since high school," Bailey said
"Sure, I have time I guess," Tahani said confused on why Bailey was asking but didn't mind
"I'll just jump in whenever" Julian said
"Well as you know Josh is my older brother" Tahani started
"Tahani" Bailey said in an 'are you serious?' tone
"Okay let me finish!" Tahani said "Josh's best friend since middle school was Sean but Sean lived far from us so he didn't go to our high school so Sean never really met you or Kaycee"
"Oh, yeah I forget you four were in high school together," Julian said referring to Josh Tahani Kaycee and Bailey
"I met Sean through the few times he would come over to hang out with Josh but he never met you and Kaycee," Tahani said "Josh met Julian one time he and our dad visited the city and they became friends and stayed in contact thanks to Instagram and such"
"Yeah and I visited LA a few times as well" Julian added
"So, after Josh graduated he moved out and came here almost immediately," Tahani said "Sean came about a year after him"
"And I was already here so Sean moved in with me!" Julian said in a cheerful way as the girls laughed
"Yeah, I got most of that from Josh last night," Bailey said
"When you slept with him," Julian said in a perverted way
"Stop it!" Bailey said
"You're learning quick," Tahani said as Bailey is already adapting to Julian "So by the time Sean got here we graduated and you ran off to the Philippines with Kenneth and lost all contact with us apparently"
"Don't remind me..." Bailey said cringing at herself
"So Kayc and I stayed home for a little over a year and Kaycee was getting sick of tired of some of the LA fakers that live there with one in particular but we don't talk about that" Tahani said as Bailey rose and eyebrow "During that year Kaycee met Gabe"
"And this is when all the fuckery started," Julian said
"What?" Bailey said
"So, Gabe and Kaycee 'hit it off' and got engaged super-fast, mostly as Gabe was traveling a lot so like every time he came back was like going on the first date all over again but like I said Kaycee was getting tired of LA," Tahani said "And I was getting sick of being in LA too"
"So, you ran away from home," Julian said
"Shut up I was getting to that" Tahani said to Julian "Josh came home for Thanksgiving talking about how he enjoyed it out here and during that time I was getting into fights with our parents so when Josh started to come back I snuck into his car all the way to the airport and made him buy me a ticket"
"What were you fighting about, whenever I meet your parents they seem lovely," Bailey said
"Doesn't matter" Tahani said rolling her eyes "Anyway, I stayed with Josh for a few days and then Kayc curious to where I was asking and after saying I was in New York she got the inspiration and courage to move out here as well, so we moved in together as I have no intention on living with my brother again and thanks to him knowing Julian we knew there was an apartment open across from theirs"
"Awesome" Bailey genuinely said "Now Sean and Kaycee"
"I should probably add that even though Kaycee never truly met Sean until coming out here but Sean knew who Kaycee was just from afar," Julian said "As I like to quote from Josh Sean said Kaycee was the most beautiful girl her even laid his eyes on"
"Yeah, unfortunately, Sean was more of... a shy kid so he never spoke to Kayc or you for that matter whenever we were in the same space," Tahani said "But being neighbors was literally the door for him to talk to Kaycee"
"And those two definitely hit it off," Julian said
"I see I think I get it," Bailey said "Sean basically by the time he became friends with Kaycee she was already engaged so they just became best friends"
"So, over the years, four for us, five for Josh and Julian, we all became really close like a family although Sean kept his crush on Kaycee with Kaycee never noticing" Tahani finished "If anything that should be the part that's confusing"
"But why Gabe! It's clear there is something between Sean and Kaycee" Bailey said "I remember Kaycee she didn't close to many people growing up and for her to basically get engaged to a guy she doesn't know all that well where there is a guy who is basically her best friend right next to her doesn't sound right"
"I said the same Kaycee is the type to get close to you first then start doing some of the deeper and commitment stuff like it took her half a year for her to even start texting me regularly," Julian said
"That's because you hit on her the first time you met dumbass" Tahani said as Bailey laughed "But Kaycee never had much luck with guys so I think one actually wanting to marry her just hit her differently"
"So, everyone knows?" Bailey asked
"Everyone as in us, Josh and Sean yeah," Julian said "Kaycee has no idea and no one wants to tell Gabe that a guy literally next door likes his fiancée"
"And now you're all caught up!" Tahani said getting up and getting ready "Alright I should go I got an audition to go to,"
"And I need to find a studio to rent out for me to make this dance combo," Julian said getting up as well
"And I..." Bailey said getting up then stopping "Have nothing to do..."
Dinnertime
"Sorry I'm late, rehearsals and stuff went ate," Josh said entering the apartment making him the last one to arrive
"What happened to lunch Josh? You said you would come!" Kaycee said
"I said most likely," Josh said
"Josh when you make a promise you have to follow through!" Kaycee said as Bailey had a realization happen in her mind "Now you get less food"
"Aw come on! but-"
"No buts!" Kaycee said
"Yes mom," Josh said taking his seat at the table
"Don't call me that!" Kaycee said putting his plate down in front of him as everyone already had plates
Josh looked at the food and was grossed out "Wait is this?" Josh asked as everyone else nodded their head "I really am being punished"
"What?!" Kaycee said
"Nothing!" everyone said
"That's what I thought!" Kaycee said
"She was always such a mom," Bailey said
"Yeah, I was the wise one, Kaycee was the caretaking while Bailey was the slut," Tahani said
"Hey!" Bailey said
"Okay Sean you have to marry Kaycee," Julian said
"What are you talking about?" Sean said
"Because someone in that family needs to be able to cook," Josh said as everyone laughed "Don't want to poison the kids"
"Making fun of my cooking again Josh?" Kaycee said scaring Josh
"N-no!" Josh said
"You know what you get all the food and I'll just order food in for everyone else," Kaycee said as everyone else silently cheered
"But... it's just lunch" Josh said as he knows Kaycee's really mad about that
"You have to follow through!" Kaycee said "What kind of person are you if you don't follow through"
"Oh, is that why she stays engaged to Gabe" Bailey whispered
"Makes sense" Tahani whispered back
"Sean please say something to relax Kaycee" Josh pleaded
"🎶Raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens, Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens, Brown paper packages tied up with strings🎶" Sean started
"🎶These are a few of my favorite things! 🎶" Kaycee singed instantly putting her in a good mood
"The trick is to sing songs she likes," Sean said to Bailey who was confused at first
"Okay all is forgiven," Kaycee said hugging Josh in forgiveness
"See made for each other" Julian said pointing to Kaycee and Sean
"Really is hubby material for her" Tahani added
"Guys stop," Sean said being embarrassed by the shipping
"So, what do you all wanna eat?" Kaycee asked as she casually placed her chin in Sean's neck shoulder area making their cheeks touch which easily made Sean more conscious of his crush on the girl next to him
"Okay this should be fun," Bailey said to herself
