New York. Usually I'm around New Jersey but it's good to change things a bit sometimes. And it better be good because I spent almost half a year saving money for this.
NY is quite more agitated, but it's not a big problem. I love how there are a lot of stores with things that haven't arrived in NJ yet - and I some I believe that never will - and I can get a lot of new things.
However, today, I'm just going to walk around and enjoy the place. I heard there's a statue - nope, not the Liberty one - on the center of the city that has an interesting story about it.
The statue is a girl slightly leant forward with her hand extended. People say that if their soulmate touch their hand, they'll turn human again. It's a myth, everyone knows, but a great opportunity for nice pictures and videos. And I'm taking it. I'm heading there before going to have lunch in a nice restaurant I got a reservation in. I'm going to enjoy NY the most.
I finally reach the square where it's on and approach it, waiting a few meters away since I see a crowd of people there already.
The people finally walk away and I approach it, observing the statue at first. Looks like a real human covered in plaster. So beautiful.
After a couple of minutes observing it, I get my phone and hold it high so the camera can get a picture of me and the statue perfectly. Finally, I place my hand on the statue's- it starts to move?
I don't exactly know what happens but I end up with a girl in arms. - I can hear a few gasps and see some people approaching and pulling their phones out, snapping pictures.
What... what's happening? The story is truth? What the actual fuck-
"Fuck, finally, where were you, motherfucker?" The girl says holding her head, cursing more under her breathe. "I've been here for millennia- Fuck, you're hot..." She mutters and I feel my face heating up at her words.
I raise an eyebrow at her, "Too thankless, I'm gonna leave you here again-"
"Just try, angel." She crosses her arms smirking.
"Okay." I say letting her fall to the floor and beginning to walk away.
"What an asshole!" She says standing from the floor and quickly catching up with me, "I don't like you but you're not gonna run away now that I found you."
"Right, come on that I'm late." I say remembering about my lunch.
"Who said I'm gonna follow you?" She says annoyed.
"You need to."
"Oh, really?"
"Y'know what," I say throwing her over my shoulder.
"Let go of me, idiot! I'm a woman with free rights! I'm gonna report you!" She says punching my back, trying to get out of my grip. - I ignore the stares people send us. I mean, it's not the whole time that you see a statue turning into an actual human and a random guy carrying a woman over his shoulder in the center of the city.
"To who? The Statues Council?" I ask.
"They're a lot nicer to talk to than you, angel-"
"But I guess they're already tired of listening to you talking so much shit at once." I snap back placing her down and wrapping a hand around her wrist. I hold onto it tight as I look to both sides before crossing the street, dragging her along with me, despite her behavior.
"I just talked to you for a few minutes and I'm already tired." She says and I roll my eyes.
"Now, speak quiet and be quiet." I tell her stopping in front of the restaurant. "I'm not losing a expensive reservation I paid for because of an annoying statue girl."
"You're saying this is worth more than me? What a-"
"Shush!" I say stepping inside the restaurant. She huffs but does so. A woman takes us to the table I reserved and we sit down.
"What year are we in, again?" Statue girl asks.
"2019." I answer looking through the menu.
"...What's that supposed to mean?"
"2019 years after Jesus was born." I say.
"Okay, who's Jesus? We didn't use that calendar, I have no idea about who's Jesus-"
"What?" I ask dropping the menu.
"Σωστά." She answers grabbing a menu. "I don't really remember when did they get me here but I ended up learning English after hearing it so much. I just didn't know my soulmate would be living so many years ahead... What's ravioli?"
I stare at her for a moment. So the statue's story was really true...
"Can we get this coke thing? I hear people talking about that quite often. I'm thankful you finally got me out of there... I think that I'd go crazy after another century stuck there..." She continues as looking through the menu. "Can you answer me please? At least show that you don't want to look like an idiot."
I snap out of daze, "Yeah, unlike you that really love to be annoying like this and look like one."
"Another word and I'll punch your face so damn hard you'll even forget your own name. And, oh, I've decided I want (food)." She places the menu down and looks at me with a small calm smile.
"You've got to be kidding me..." I mutter to myself, scoffing.

"So this is how it works..." I hear the statue girl, whose name I learnt to be (y/n), muttering.
"What are you-" I interrupt myself seeing her with my phone in hands. "Hey, no!" I take it from her.
"Why? I know," She rolls her eyes, "like any average guy you must have tons of porn in there but it isn't what I'm looking for-"
"It's because of something called privacy! And I can't risk you doing anything you weren't supposed to!" I say shoving my phone back inside my jeans' pocket and wrapping my hand around her wrist, dragging her with me around the mall. We finally stop in front of a store.
"Oh, how beautiful!" (Y/n) says grabbing a Misfits shirt.
"Would look good on you with this." I say pulling lightly on a black skirt with chains on it, it falls to until above the knees, I suppose.
"Yeah!" She says agreeing and taking it in hands. "Y'know, I'm a so beautiful person, so kind, so nice, that you should buy me something." She grins at me. "Or maybe a whole outfit because this dress I'm wearing is literally over a century years old."
I roll my eyes at her. "Okay, okay. Grab the basics..." I mutter. She can't be in those clothes the whole time, right?
"Thank you!" She hugs me and walks around, grabbing a few things. She returns after a moment, with a lot of things in hands.
"You crazy? Never that I'm going to let you take all of this, c'mon, you don't even know if they fit you! Place everything back that I'm going to help you!"
"But Frank-"
"You don't know how to shop, (y/n)!" I tell her and she huffs, pouting before walking away. She comes back with her hands free. We choose a nice red shirt, the skirt we had seen earlier, leggings, a pair of socks and another one of boots. I also grab a few things I was supposed to, for myself obviously, and we leave the store.
"I want ice cream. It looks so nice."
"I want you to shut up and let me show you around." I say annoyed.
"Why are you walking around holding my hand?"
"So you won't get lost." - Okay, in part, I do like holding her hand.
"People will think we're lovers!" (Y/n) says in a smirking voice.
"I thought you wouldn't care since you were so desperately waiting for your soulmate, aka me." I say stopping in a line in front of an ice cream place.
"In really, I was worried you'd care about it since you're so fragile." She says facing me, still smirking and giving me a look.
"Listen here," I say leaning forward, barely an inch away from her, "please collaborate at least when we're out. I know it's hard to stay with that damn mouth shut for four millennia, so I understand why you're so talkative. But stop talking for at least now before I shut it myself." I say lowly.
"I know it's hard to live being that idiot for I don't know how many years more than 20, but I'm going to have pity and help this once." She smiles.
I don't answer as I narrow my eyes at her and step forward on the line.

"-but I think that I should receive much more attention than that Liberty bitch. I'm really older and so much more beautiful. People, like you, don't appreciate me enough. Oh lord, if I don't receive enough appreciation from my soulmate, who is going to do so?" (Y/n) says dramatically as we walk around a square at night. The streets aren't so full, it's late. It's also somewhere near the hotel since we can't risk getting lost.
"I would appreciate it more if you weren't so damn annoying."
"Could you compliment me at least once?" (Y/n) says stopping in front of me, making me stop on my tracks. "You're all the time complaining about how I can't shut up and that I'm annoying but I'm really doubting you're my soulmate because you seem to not like me at all. Yes, I joke along most of the time but I can't help but to wonder." She gives me a real worried look.
I sigh, looking down and searching for the right words to say. "Uh... I-I do like you, okay? It's that... it's not everyday that you touch a statue and you find out they're your soulmate, right?" I breathe a chuckle. "You're really beautiful, that's what I thought on the first time I saw you standing there. I just don't know what to do, what to feel or how to react because some fucking myth became truth out of sudden and all.
"You... you like me? Really?" She furrows her eyebrows in a confused and surprised manner.
"You thought I didn't?" I chuckle. "What I really don't is to believe that you like me."
"I would've already ran away if I didn't!" She says. "Oh, but really, I didn't think you actually liked me. I mean, I'm some weird girl from millennia ago, who turned into a normal human out of nothing after you touched me and-" She's interrupted by my lips pressing against hers.
I pull away and look at her. "What? Don't you tell me I turned you into a statue again just by kissing you!" I chuckle lightly. (Y/n)'s face slowly turns bright red as she looks up at me. I smile, "I wouldn't kiss you if I didn't like you. Now let's go, statue girl."
