Bending and stretching her long-buried limbs,
Goddess emerges bathed in golden light,
Earth's crust convulsing, a wafer-thin scrim.
While Gaea, reborn, hatches into being,
great plates, in fragments, are shrugged as she stands.
Her shoulders, aquiver, send shadows fleeing,
unleash seismic waves to lay waste our lands.
Dormant for aeons, in rosy dawn robed,
chthonic colossus treads shifting ground.
Humankind, sleeping, its darkest angst probed,
– unaware She hovers, covenant bound –
turns a blind eye to dire forecasting,
beguiled by dreams of life everlasting.
