I struggle to write poetry
I think it's because when I am writing, I press on the page too hard and the nib breaks
It reminds of how much the memories have broken me
I think it's because when I type, I can't because my phone brightness is as low as my self-esteem
And my thumbs rarely touch the keyboard because I've overdosed a little too much on unsurity
I struggle to write poetry
I never write about things that are close to me.
I'd rather keep them in the dark where they are supposed to be.
Because I'm addicted to bottling my problems when I'm scared.
I struggle to memorize poetry
Each word that leaves my mouth is a callback to a memory that I taught myself how to forget
And before you ask, yes I choose to forget
because I don't want to remember.
