"Bella!" I heard my mom shout from downstairs.

I sat up on my bed resting my book beside my nightstand. I walk downstairs to find my mother sitting at the dining table with her hands crossed in front of her 'important business' i thought.

"Yes, mother?" I take a seat across from hers, cocking my eyebrow at her.

"Honey, we have a very important dinner tonight." my mother got up from her chair and moved to the seat right next to mine.

I made a questionable face as I try to read any sort of emotion from her face.

"Mom, what's this really about?" I ask with a little bit of hesitation. I straighten my position and leaned on my right to face her.

"You know I love your dad." my mom reaches over and takes my hand in hers.

"Mom" I whisper, my voice barely audible as my nerves start to kick in.

"This dinner is for you to meet my fiancée" my mother glances down.

Wait, fiancé? Did I hear right?

"Your kidding." I chuckle out loud, my mother gives me a serious look wait it wasn't a joke

"The dinner starts at 7, please just do it for me." My mom pleaded before she stood up and walked away leaving me with questions and thoughts.

I stomp upstairs to my room, upset at how my mother hid this from me. She told me that she would never move on from my dad and that their love was endlessly, endlessly my ass.

I comb through my hair while salty tears trailed down my cheeks. I mean don't get me wrong she deserves to move on it's been 2 years but I'm ready to.

'This isn't helping.' I whisper to myself while glancing between my two opinions. I pulled the black dress in front of me testing it out against my body, this one is a for sure no.

I pulled on the other dress which was red against my body, I tilted my head to the side trying to decide which one looked the best.

"How about this one?" My mother's voice echoed throughout my room, I turned around to find my mom leaning against my door frame with a white beautiful dress in hand.

"I'm fine." I hissed, clearly still upset over this whole fiancée bullshit.

I tried rushing over to my closet but my mom was fast enough to grab my elbow, stopping me. I snapped my head in her direction, she was in tears.

"Don't cry." I whisper relaxing my intense face, maybe I'm being too harsh on her. "I'll wear the white dress."

"Thank you, Bunny." My mom smiles weakly at me while passing the white, beautiful dress to me. "I'll wait downstairs, please hurry." She pats my shoulder before walking out.

The food better be damn good.

I looked at my reflection in my mirror, I patted down the white dress that held every curve of mine with such an innocent shimmer. I applied my rosie-tinted lipgloss before walking downstairs releasing my hair from the bun I had it in, my blonde hair started flowing everywhere as I walked outside joining my mom.

"Why didn't you brush your hair?" She asked before locking the door to the house.

"I got lazy." I threw my shoulders up, showing off my relaxed posture.

My thumbs started to fidget with each other as my mom pulls into the parking lot of Del Mar Carlin, a very expensive place to eat might I add.

I'm getting very happy, excited vibes from my mom as she jumps out of the car and practically flies to the doors. I on the other hand sat in the car thinking about what I should say or think about this whole situation.

"You got this Isabella." I whispered to myself.

I got out of the car gluing a smile to my face, I walked up to the door almost tripping but I smoothly stood up straightening my position. The doorman chuckled and I gladly smiled, so what I'm clumsy.

Once the doors opened my mouth fell right open like a dumbass.

It's gorgeous, the walls are painted with a light pink followed by gold liners, diamonds were everywhere as people walked around like nothing new was happening like they see this every day, rich people.

"Bunny." I heard my mom call out for me so I slowly turned around.

There was my mom with her beautiful long blue dress and her perfectly styled blonde hair, my eyes traveled to her hand, and another hand was intertwined with hers.

My eyes slowly traced this person, he was wearing a black suit that hugged around his huge biceps which gave me a hint that this person works out a lot. My green eyes meant light blue ones, my breathing became heavier.

He has light brown hair which was curly at the ends, his jawline was perfection, his lips were plumped and parted just a little and all I could think about was smudging my lipgloss all over them.

"You okay?" My mom was now right beside me giving me a worried look as this man just stands there lifting his eyebrow.

Even his eyebrow is fucking sexy

"Mhm." I answered shortly.

We start walking toward this incredibly good-looking man and my heart starts beating rapidly.

"This is my daughter, Isabella." My mom introduce me to him and I held my shakey hand out for him to grab.

"I'm Carter, your mother's fiancée." Carter skims his finger over my hand before shaking it causing me to inhale and exhale deeply while squeezing my legs shut.

Fuck, he's my mom's fiancée

"Honey, do you have to pee?" My mom asked.

Oh my god, not cool mom

"I don't believe so." I coughed out my response as I mentally slapped myself.

Carter chuckles a little, I didn't notice but I was still holding his hand. He gave me a weird look before I yanked my hand away from his.

"Let's eat." My mom says trying to release all the awkward energy, I nod in agreement.

We all walk over to the table, my mom and Carter sat beside each other while I sat right next to my mom trying to avoid her fiancée's icy blue eyes. I mean he looks so young and he's marring already, jeez.

"Bella, do you have any questions for us?" My mom asked.

"A few."

"Ask away." His deep, husky voice was music to my ears.

"How old are you?" I blurted out.

"Bella that's rud-" My mom was saying before she got cut off by Carter.

"28." He answers my question.

I thought about it for a quick second, that's a huge age gap.

"Mother, aren't you a little too old for him." I said before thinking about my response.

Oops

"Isabella Lillian Evans." She pronounces my full name with an angry tone, making me cringe.

Carter chuckled lightly, my mom shot him a look expressing her anger which quickly stopped him from laughing anymore.

"Sorry, that was a little too much." I admitted.

"You're forgiven." My mom smiled, sourly.

"I have one question for you, Isabella." My name rolled off his tongue so perfectly that it almost made me moan.

"Yes?" I stuttered like an idiot.

Carter took a long pause, I couldn't help but keep my gaze fixated on him with his perfect, strong features.

"For god stakes, we're moving in with Carter." My mom blurts out causing me to choke on the piece of food I had in my mouth.

I cupped my mouth with my hands as I struggle to swallow the food.

"Your kidding." I said while slipping some water.

"Not at all." She smiles at Carter and then back at me.

"Mom, it's only been two years since daddy left." I whispered-yelled at her, her facial expression dropped at the mention of my father.

"Don't talk about your dad, Bella." My mom's voice is laced with disbelief and anger.

"Right, since you have your new, young husband you forgot all about my dad, you know the man you were in love with." I shout, angrily not caring if we were in a fancy place, not caring that Carter was right here. "Who gives a fuck about him right?." I slammed my fist against the table being quite dramatic.

"Your dad is gone, he's never coming back Bella. You really need to move on." My mom yells, causing me to jump at the coldness of her voice.

I shook my head in disbelief at her tone toward me. My watery eyes moved from my mom's eyes to Carter's, he had pity written all over his face but there was another emotion splattered across his face that I couldn't quite get it.

"Have a nice dinner." I quickly got up from my chair and threw my napkin on the table.

"Honey I didn't me-" My mom tried speaking but I cut her off mid-sentence.

"Nice meeting you, Carter." I said.

I stormed out of this fancy, annoying restaurant with tears covering my cheeks, my mom didn't even try to make an effort to stop me.

I didn't have the keys to my mom's car and I also didn't have my house keys and I didn't have my dad either. I'm a mess so I started walking to the one place where I know I'm always welcomed.

"Gracie."

I pounded on my best friend's house door, sobbing my eyes out and shaking because it was freezing out there and I didn't have a jacket.

The door opened and someone I never expected was standing right in front of me.

"Isabella, is that you?"
