Without her I'm not sure these awards would have continued. Now that that's out of the way let's go ahead and see those results!!!!
~POETRY RESULTS ARE BELOW!! Everyone's review is first!!!
1. "She" by @OlgaPinsky
Grammar/Spelling: 10
Imagery: 10
Creativity: 5
Emotion: 5
Cover/Summary: 10
Total: 40/40
(The grammar, spelling, and punctuation are all flawless. The imagery captured is outstanding. I could feel and imagine every word I read. This is not only creative, but extremely powerful. The blurb pulled me straight in. I didn't only want to read this, but I need to. The cover is mysterious and creative. The font and color goes with cover wonderfully. Everything OlgaPinsky writes is pure perfection.)
2. Unheard Thoughts by BananaZurc
Grammar/Spelling: 9
Imagery: 8
Creativity: 5
Emotion: 2
Cover/Summary: 2.5
Total: 22.5/40
(Very pretty cover but the blurb or summary was all about the book's wins; seemed a little presumptuous to me. There was little ingenuity, even with all of the rhyming words, it didn't give me much emotion.)
3. In the Gaslight by @JJRothschild
Grammar/Spelling: 10
Imagery: 10
Creativity: 10
Emotion: 5
Cover/Summary: 3
Total: 38/40
(Great poetry and very well written. Has a lot of potential in the real world of publishing. The only downside is not a clear summary and every award won is listed; it should be on a page inside the book not in the summary. The cover and the more modern art inside doesn't match; cover should reflect the inside.)
4. Paper Doll by chocolettie
Grammar/Spelling: 10
Imagery: 10
Creativity: 10
Emotion: 5
Cover/Summary: 4
Total: 39/40
(Beautiful Poetry. Very extensive vocabulary and emotions through the flow. Only small bump is that the cover is rather dull in comparison to the 3D art inside.)
5. WOMAN by @tejalgoyal
Grammar/Spelling:
Imagery:
Creativity:
Emotion:
Cover/Summary:
Total: 0
(This isn't poetry; it's stories and random sentences. I'd suggest the author reads actual poetry books before they enter anymore contests.)
6. Deja Vu by @ProsenPoetry
Grammar/Spelling: 8
Imagery: 3
Creativity: 5
Emotion: 2
Cover/Summary: 2
Total: 20/40
(Unfortunately, the fact that this writer's native language isn't English, it is very difficult to get into the poetry. It was hard to understand what she was trying to say; as if she translated word for word from another language. With practice, however, I think her voice will be a powerful one.)
7. A Bundle of Flowers by @Princess_Faym
Grammar/Spelling: 10
Imagery: 10
Creativity: 9
Emotion: 4
Cover/Summary: 4
Total: 37/40
(Simple yet complex. Wish there were more diverse poems but well written and good imagery.)
8. Drowning Stars by @Stargaryenn
Grammar/Spelling: 9
Imagery: 4
Creativity: 2
Emotion: 4
Cover/Summary: 3
Total: 22/40
(All over the place. The first 3 were in sentence and story form. Should be explained that only parts of the book is actual poetry.)
9. Horribly Beautiful by @SilentPromises
Grammar/Spelling: 5
Imagery: 5
Creativity: 8
Emotion: 2
Cover/Summary: 5
Total: 25/40
(Dark poetry; needs to fix punctuation and shorten. Be more cohesive; otherwise it's like a multi sectioned winding road that doesn't end. Makes something that could have a lot of strength, seem weak.)
10. A Life of Poetry by @0ItGoesOn0
Grammar/Spelling: 9.5
Imagery: 10
Creativity: 10
Emotion: 5
Cover/Summary: 5
Total: 39.5/40
(Poetry doesn't have to be complicated to be beautiful and leave a reader mesmerized. These poems—and I read 7 before I stopped—were simple phrases, yet perfect imagery and emotion behind each. Just tighten up the grammar and punctuation and it's as close to a perfect score as I give.)
11. She Speaks by @xRigorMortis
Grammar/Spelling: 5
Imagery: 8
Creativity: 8
Emotion: 2
Cover/Summary: 5
Total: 28/40
(Poetry is hollow; written by someone who has never experienced love yet claims to know that it doesn't exist. Grammar is hard to stumble over; also too many commas. Suggestion is to write about something you know.)
12. Solace and Scars by @awesomeatc
Grammar/Spelling: 8
Imagery: 5
Creativity: 8
Emotion: 2.5
Cover/Summary: 2.5
Total: 26/40
(This would be a much better book of artistry then poetry. The images inside of each poem are themselves worth a thousand words. They're beautiful and should be left with a haiku each.)
13. Life is a Huge Mess by @Annabeth_Chase008
Grammar/Spelling: 4
Imagery: 8
Creativity: 10
Emotion: 5
Cover/Summary: 5
Total: 32/40
(Needs to work on English because grammar isn't there. Also shorten the poems and don't explain why you wrote what you wrote below. Otherwise powerful poetry.)
14. Desolate Nights by @PoeticRin
Grammar/Spelling: 5
Imagery: 10
Creativity: 10
Emotion: 5
Cover/Summary: 2.5
Total: 32.5/40
(Writer said English isn't her first language, but if you're not that great at it, this is a good way to practice. Otherwise her small haiku-like poems carried powerful emotions.)
15. My Deepest Thoughts by @Zaimat31
Grammar/Spelling: 8.5
Imagery: 10
Creativity: 10
Emotion: 5
Cover/Summary: 5
Total: 38.5/40
(Grammar and spelling need work but otherwise very powerful. Reached out to the author due to darkness of poetry; they claim its to help others. Important to note that international suicide hotlines are available.)
16. Alfaaz by @SahikaD
Grammar/Spelling: 5
Imagery: 10
Creativity: 10
Emotion: 5
Cover/Summary: 5
Total: 35/40
(Would have gotten full scores if grammar and spelling worked but unfortunately, it really threw off the balance of the poem. Something to practice.)
17. Words of the Dead by @matt7133
Grammar/Spelling: 9.8
Imagery: 10
Creativity: 10
Emotion: 5
Cover/Summary: 2.5
Total: 37.3/40
(Very powerful and important topic; a couple small issues with grammar but nothing serious. The cover doesn't match the title or the poems. Would recommend a redo for death and living to be represented fairly and then submit into another contest.)
18. Untitled by @mistryboredom
Grammar/Spelling: 10
Imagery: 5
Creativity: 8
Emotion: 1
Cover/Summary: 4
Total: 28/40
(The explanations in the beginning throw everything off. There's no emotion behind this. Plus at the end, the begging for comments doesn't make sense. Poetry must flow on its own. Writer needs a lot of practice.)
19. The Falling Stars by @LonelyComets
Grammar/Spelling: 9.8
Imagery: 10
Creativity: 10
Emotion: 5
Cover/Summary: 4.5
Total: 39.3/40
(Great emotion, some small tweaks in punctuation and summary that can be easily ironed out. Writer needs to stop putting commentary at the end of the poems and they can be a bit shorter. Otherwise, well done.)
20. Burning Snowflakes by @iamelektra
Grammar/Spelling: 10
Imagery: 10
Creativity: 10
Emotion: 5
Cover/Summary: 5
Total: 40/40
(Utter perfection; strength, power, vivid imagery. Keep up the great work!)
21. Brain Waves by @CripticCrow
Grammar/Spelling: 4
Imagery: 8
Creativity: 6
Emotion: 4
Cover/Summary: 1
Total: 23/40
(Very confusing. The cover doesn't match the title or much else. Punctuation and grammar are missing. Like a giant run on sentence. Needs a lot of work.)
22. Clover by @HunterNearhood
Grammar/Spelling: 9.5
Imagery: 10
Creativity: 10
Emotion: 5
Cover/Summary: 2.5
Total: 37/40
(Great rhyming just lacking slightly on summary and punctuation. A few seemed to be paragraph stories; I would recommend shortening or explaining in summary. Otherwise, powerful emotions and great job.)
23. Mankind's Symphony by @Hunter_York
Grammar/Spelling: 9.5
Imagery: 9.5
Creativity: 10
Emotion: 5
Cover/Summary: 5
Total: 39/40
(Stunning cover, great summary, poetry talks about different facets of war. My only dings were for spelling errors and putting paragraphs of explanations on the bottom of each poem which takes away from their power.)
24. Houses or Homes by @di_Angelo_Nation
Grammar/Spelling: 9.8
Imagery: 10
Creativity: 10
Emotion: 5
Cover/Summary: 1
Total: 35.8/40
(Slight spelling errors; cover is too dark and summary is lacking. The rest is beautiful and powerful. A soul crying out for help, trying to reach the masses. Very important to heed her words.)
First place: Burning Snowflakes by iamelektra and She by OlgaPinsky 40/40
Second place: A Life of Poetry by 0ltGoesOn0 39.5/40
Third place: The Falling Stars by LonelyComets 39.3/40
Congrats to everyone!!! More results coming up soon!!!
