-a month later-
next month, school would start. it definitely was an eventful summer. it was now eddie's seventeenth birthday, he was having a small party at his house.
eddie also felt the need to tell his friends about his abilities, he trusted them and knew he could tell them. he also informed jane about winkle's passing, to say she was upset was an understatement.
he was dressed in proper attire because of his mother, all his friends were over and so was jane, will, jonathon and aunt joyce.
joyce had to take a long break from work, she was getting weaker everyday and so exhausted, but she was feeling like herself again.
jonathon brought his girlfriend, nancy. will brought his boyfriend, mike too. jane came with max, max was a very cool chick and eddie grown pretty close with her.
"happy birthday, sweetface," richie kissed eddie's temple.
"thank you, bubba." he happily smiled, bevv came charging towards them.
"happy birthday, eddie!" she hugged him in a death grip, "ahrg .. bevv, you're .. y-you're crushing me.." he breathed out.
she dropped him, "sorry!" she hugged him softer this time.
mike, bill, ben and stan came trotting in with genuine smiles. "happy birthday, you're seventeen! how do you feel?" mike grinned.
"the same, a little weird." eddie shrugged.
they all chuckled. "well, i hope you have a great day," ben nodded.
eddie looked at richie with a certain look, "uh, guys?"
"y-yeah?" bill asked.
jane joined them while the older people talked in the kitchen, "can everyone go up to my room, i have something to tell you."
jane's eyes widened, she mouthed to him; are you telling them?
to which he nodded, they all obeyed and followed eddie up.

eddie had took his mother's flower pot with one single, poppy flower and set it in front of everyone.
stan, jane and richie knew exactly what was going to happen, bevv felt nostalgic.
"okay, but first, you need to promise me you'll stay calm, don't scream and don't freak out!" eddie gave them a pointed look.
they eyed him suspiciously, but gestured him to continue.
eddie took a deep breath, exhaling shakily. he put his hand above the poppy and wiggled his fingers.
then, the poppy did a little spin. it's leaves sprouted out of it's stem and waved at the group.
mike, ben, bill and bevv gasped, stan quickly covered mike and bill's mouth. "shh, shh, don't panic."
"i-it wasn't a dream!" bevv struggled to speak clearly.
jane grabbed bevv and calmed her, while ben stayed quiet. he didn't look scared, more like intrigued and fascinated.
"don't be afraid, it's harmless," eddie cooed, he noticed ben's interested look.
he smiled and made the poppy grow until it was front of ben's face, it did a little dance and rubbed on his arm. ben smiled brightly, "amazing." he whispered. eddie giggled.
bill, mike and bevv relaxed after witnessing what was happening. "woah," mike hushly spoke.
the poppy's stem fatened, it's leaves grew extra long. they grasped gently at jane, richie, bevv, bill, stan, mike and ben. eddie made sure to be extra careful with ben, for he was paraplegic.
bill almost fell, but was captured. jane, stan and richie laughed softly, showing the others that they were safe.
bevv giggled, petting the fuzzy leaf that held her, ben was being affectionately cuddled by the poppy petals.
bill and mike held hands, laced together. they laughed together as one of the leave's poked at their tummies, stan held onto his boyfriend's as they laughed together.
"babe, come on up!" richie beamed, jane nodded in agreement.
eddie rolled his eyes playfully, "alright, alright." the leaves created a 'staircase', he walked up them and fell backwards to scare them for fun, but relaxed when he saw eddie was caught.
"see? harmless," eddie turned to jane, "and careful."

"happy birthday, to you!" they all clapped, jonathon giving eddie a noogie. "looks like my little cousin's grownin' old!" he folded his lips to make it look like he had no teeth, they all laughed as joyce and sonia shook their head.
richie had an idea.
they all served themselves velvet cake, they talked amongst eachother until the adults started to clean up, "ed's, where's winkle's stem?" richie suddenly asked.
eddie whipped his head towards him, frowning at the mention of winkle. "u-up in my room, why?"
richie grinned, kissing his cheek. "go get him, me, you and everyone else are going to oak. where's your shovel, by the way?"
eddie gaped at him, bewildered. "um, in the shed, outside." he pointed towards the backdoor. "thanks, i'll tell the gang, hurry and get him."
eddie wondered what that tozier was up to, but who would know? he's, richard wentworth tozier.

bevv, jane, stan, mike, bill, ben, richie and eddie stood silently in front of oak. eddie shed a few tears just looking at wrinkle's stem. richie held a miniature shovel, he got on his knee's.
he began to dig a small hole next to oak, while richie was doing so, the group played with the leaves, being juggled. eddie watch curiously as richie wiped sweat off his head.
"okay .. pass me him,"
eddie could now see what he was doing, his eyes widened as they flooded with tears.
"r-richie.."
he stood up, rubbing the dirt off. "hey, don't cry, this is for winkle. don't you want him to be in the real world, rather than cooped up in your room?" richie had a point, eddie sniffled.
he stared at winkle's lifeless stem, he gently placed a kiss upon it, "i'll always love you, wink. again, i'm sorry this happened. you were my best friend, always will be." he passed him to richie who handled him with great care.
richie set him down in the small hole, he started to patch it with soil. jane was put down by one of the branches, she hugged eddie and let him cry.
winkle was now buried next to oak, his second closest friend. "goodbye, wink." eddie brokenly spoke.
"bye, winkle." jane sadly smiled, kissing eddie's forehead affectionately.
the others were put down, they were all chipper and cheerful. and eddie? well, he was happy.
he was actually happy, today was a good day. winkle would forever be in his heart, so will eddie.
walking back to eddie's house, they all conversated while richie held eddie's hand.
"hey, ed's?"
"ugh, what?" eddie wasn't even going to try to correct him.
"i know this may sound crazy, we only knew eachother for half a year, but,"
he stopped them both, eddie eyed him quizzically.
"but, i love you."
eddie gasped, covering his blushing cheeks.
"r-rich, oh my, i love you too!" he jumped into richie's arms, being spun around as they kissed lovingly.
richie took in all of eddie, his scar, his chipped tooth, his dark freckles, he was gorgeous.
eddie took in richie, his nose piercing, his braces, his tattoo, his lovely bisque skin, he was beautiful.
"you're your own you, eddie," he kissed his nose.
eddie giggled, he then smirked and jumped off richie and announced; "last one to the house is a rotten egg!"
everyone started to laugh, getting hyped up, they sprinted down the street.
richie shook his head while snickering, chasing after his boyfriend.
eddie was happy, grateful and lucky. happy that he had richie, grateful he had his friends and lucky he had those abilities.
