"Without a sound and without warning, our future secretly changes."

S T A R T

Time was flying by. The warm weather and bright rays of the sun now a memory. The young girl sat on the windowsill in her living room, watching as the snow fell and coated the street in layers of white.

Drawing on her window, Sanae pondered about how Sasuke was doing. They hadn't seen each other in some time, since school was off for the holidays, and he started to get super busy due to Clan stuff.

She also thought about Naruto. He had no family, so what would he be doing for the holidays? A part of her wanted to invite the Uzumaki for dinner, but she knew her father would be seething. Sighing, she tried to rid of that thought, so she could feel a little less guilty.

She began to think about the new year, and wondered how it would be for her. She was turning seven in a couple months and she felt pretty excited; although, she knew not much would change. Though, you never knew what the world was up to.

Sanae began to think about everything that happened in the year, and smiled a little. In the six years and however many months she's lived, that was the most that happened in her whole life. Feeling elated, she slid off the ledge, going to her mother who was knitting by the fireplace.

"Momma... can I go outside?" The six-year-old girl asked, looking at her mother with curious eyes.

Mika frowned lightly, "I don't know, Sanae... it's really cold right now."

Pursuing her lips, she clasped her hands behind her back and looked up at her mom. Mika shook her head, placing her elbow on the armrest of the couch, her chin sitting atop her fist.

"Where are you going, anyway?" Mika's deep reddish-pink irises looking at her daughter. Sanae's gaze focused on the corner of the ceiling.

"I was gonna go to Sasuke's house..." Dragging out the "e" in Sasuke. Her mother contemplated on allowing Sanae to go meet her friend. Pondering, she knew that the Uchiha's were quite busy, and she didn't want to bother them.

"Honey, they're busy around this time..." Mika tried to convince her daughter to not go, and although she was usually very submissive, Sanae refused with a small shake of her head.

"Is it okay if I go to Naruto's then?" The girl pushed, looking up at her mother's deciding eyes, batting her lashes.

Mika sighed, slumping into the sofa. "No, it's getting really late. And you know that your dad doesn't like him."

"Why?"

Sighing again, the woman tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, sliding off the couch to kneel in front of Sanae.

"I don't know, my dear. I really don't."

The young girl cocked her head to the side, blinking at her mother. She wasn't sure what to say. There weren't any words she was able to grasp.

Both of them were silent, filled with a type of guilt they couldn't push away.

Specks of white cascaded down from the sky. Sanae didn't prefer a snow-coated town paired with a bright, blue sunny day. The sunlight reflected off of the snow and it was uncomfortable for her eyes.

Thus, her squinting.

"You look kinda funny... Nae-chan." The young Uzumaki beside her piped, his face contorted with a face of confusion.

"It's really bright out... my eyes don't like it," she answered truthfully, her eyes beginning to water.

"H-hey! W-why are you crying!" Naruto jumped, his azure orbs widening.

"I'm not crying," she closed her eyes, covering them with her small hands. "My eyes are watering because they hurt."

The boy was shocked, not sure what to do. All he knew that it was too bright and Sanae couldn't see... meaning he had to do something to help her.

Wearing a determined look on his face, he grabbed Sanae's hand. "Keep your eyes closed Nae-chan! I'll guide you, dattebayo!"

She nodded. A light pink dusting her cheeks. "I'm counting on you," she grinned as he began to maneuver her around the town.

She did stumble on the small rocks that decorated the streets, but thankfully, Naruto didn't let her knock into poles and people.

Squeezing her eyes shut, she wondered where they were. By now, they should be at the street where her house was.

"Naruto-kun," she called. "Where are we?"

"Almost there, Nae-chan," he replied. "Don't worry! I got this, dattebayo!" Naruto added, the vision of his smile creeping into her mind. It brought a smile to her face, too.

She knew well her father didn't like Naruto, for reasons she would probably never know. But she knew one thing.

Naruto had a big heart. And she would stay his friend until the end of times. He needed a friend. A real one. And she was glad it was her.

"Thanks for being my friend." Her mouth went agape, and she could feel his gaze on her.

Sanae beamed.

Sanae was fond of daydreaming. In class, she always found herself spacing out no matter what. In the end, she always did well, but she had a feeling that she had to snap out of this phase... quickly.

Spring was on its way, and Sanae was excited. She was seven now, and had the best grades (books-wise) amongst her ranks. One time, when she was walking down a hallway, she heard teachers talking about moving her up a grade.

Her stomach churned at the thought. Imagine the physical exams...and... just phys-ed classes in general. She visibly shuddered.

She also didn't want to leave Sasuke behind. Sanae knew she wasn't a fool, but moving a grade up was too much for her mind to handle.

"Sanae-chan," the boy beside her whined. She turned her head to face Sasuke, gazing into his onyx eyes with a questionable look. She didn't have to say anything, because Sasuke knew that he had her full attention.

"You're older than me, now...." Arching an eyebrow, it wasn't unpredictable that he was still whining about her being seven, but it had been a month.

Placing her head in her arms, she listened as the class emptied out, signalling the end of the day.

"You're gonna turn seven too, you know..." her voice being muffled from having her face buried in her arms, sighing.

The ravenette poked her head, pouting.

That is that. This book is going to be a little fast paced btw because I'm only planning on setting out no more than thirteen chapters??

Anyway, thank you for your time. Stay healthy and hydrated!! Bye!

<3

EDIT: So I just realized I subconsciously changed Mika (Sanae's mom's name) to Nari. Not sure how that happened... but I'm real sorry ):

It's all fixed now btw.
