Shame— And I'm the one to blame.

Flawlessly Jazelle glosses another coat of Fenty Beauty Stunna lip paint across her lips as she stands in front of the bathroom mirror that Zuma Miami had. She puckers her lips together making sure that her lipstick was perfectly coated and no smudges were left behind. She then proceeds to pop two breath mints in her mouth. She places all her items back in her Yves Saint Laurent clutch before sighing and smoothing out her hair.

She was stalling as much time as possible inside the restaurant's bathroom to delay returning to her unwanted date. A new older man on her guest list that couldn't help but gloat about himself the entire night. Though it was annoying, it was easier for her to sit back and listen. All she had to do was pretend she was interested with a small smile, throw out some questions to keep the conversation rolling and please him at the end of the night.

He was a Caucasian man in his mid-thirties. From what Jazelle was listening in on the conversation he was a global marketing manager. He made well over six figures from the price he set on her for the night. She would never accompany anybody who earned any less.

All he wanted was some spontaneous female companionship. From her ad, he thought she would be the perfect fit due to her exotic features. The price she set matched exactly what he was looking for and he was willing to pay a pretty penny to see what she can do.

Did it get tiring after a while? Absolutely, Jazelle thought. She didn't want to do this for her entire life but it was something that had been habitual even before her big move to Miami. Another secret that she held back from her brother.

She could stop escorting and follow Jasai's orders but her pride was in the way. Her ego was something she's worked so hard on. Her stubborn ways helped none.

After their last argument, she started to put her current occupation in perspective more. Seeing her brother's face their last argument killed her no matter how raucous he was being. She knew it was because he only cared. She hated fighting with her brother especially when she saw the hint of pain in his face he was trying to hide. She wanted their relationship to be how it used to. He was her best friend, protector, and guardian. She looked up to him more than her own father. Her newfound mentality was starting to get in the way of their bond.

With her brother heavy on her mind, she was also on his which prompts him to call her. He knew she was working tonight but they both knew no matter what she was doing she'd always pick up her brother's call.

Jasai couldn't stop talking Samiyah's ear off about how much their relationship had shifted. She was fully supportive and advised for him to call her to talk it out. Even if it was briefly. After much soft debating, he finally decided to cave in and take her advice. She sat close by Jasai knowing that if he needed any support he would see that she wasn't going anywhere.

"Hello?" Jazelle answers curiously. She wasn't expecting a call from him especially since he knew she was working tonight.

"Hey... you, uhm... you busy?" He asks her before chewing on his bottom lip.

"No, what's up?" Jazelle says glancing over at the door. She's been in the bathroom for almost ten minutes so she was expecting for her date to start searching for her whereabouts.

"I was just checking on you," Jasai says staring at Samiyah. She gives him a light head nod letting him know he was going in the right direction. An apprehensive silence overcomes them both as Jazelle has no clue what to say and Jasai nervously awaits a response.

They both had the same thought floating in their heads.

"I'm sorry." They both simultaneously say.

"No, I'm sorry Jazelle." Jasai tries to take full responsibility. "I should've been there for you."

"No, Jai it's all my fault." Jazelle tilts her head back because she could feel her tears stinging the brim of her eyes. She didn't want to ruin her make up or allow her date to feel like something was wrong. "I've been so angry lately. I just have so much anger built up in me."

"I know, I can feel it." He shakes his head with deep pain throbbing in his chest. He strives to make his sister happy. To know she wasn't and hasn't been for a long time killed him. "I want to be there for you but you have to let me in. You gotta talk to me."

She so badly wanted to. Desperately but her situation was way more complicated then she led it on to be. To know Travis was still out there potentially plotting left her frightened to speak up still. Threats against her family were spewed. She'd never in a million years take it that lightly. Travis left the only fearful bone in her body that held her back from living her life freely. No one understood the feeling but her. She couldn't expect anybody too.

"Can I ask you something, Jai?" She bites the inside of her cheek. Nervousness consuming her blood heating her body up. She holds onto her torso with her free arms unsure if she should even ask this next question.

"Anything." He responds quickly.

"What happened to Travis?" She asks cautiously. It's something she's been dying to know since they've reconnected.

Uncertain on how to respond, Jasai leaves silence on the line between both of them. He knew they ended on bad terms in regards to the wedding but after that Travis hadn't spoken much on why she would up and leave. So abruptly at that. He made it seem like he was just as confused as Jasai along with some additional details he decided to twist to his liking. Ultimately they both summed it up to cold feet even though her brother had a feeling it was more than that.

He tried prying Travis for answers constantly which lead to their separation. They both searched for Jazelle for weeks before Travis decided he wanted to give up. Of course, Jasai would never give up but to see that Travis was already willing to put a sour taste in his mouth. He gave Travis an ultimatum that he could either continue helping him look for Jazelle or they could departing ways. From that day, he hasn't seen or spoken to him.

"Honestly Jaz, I don't know. I haven't seen him in over a year." He tells her truthfully. Jazelle leans against the wall throwing her head back against it gently. That wasn't the answer she wanted to hear. "Why? You looking for him?"

"No!" She responds so quickly that it causes Jasai's eyebrow to perk up with suspicion. "No, I was just curious to see what happened after I left is all." She tries to come back smoothly.

"Well you know I love you, right?" He asks her because he knew that he hasn't shown it the best he could. They both weren't.

"I love you too, Jai." She smiles. She was starting to realize that she couldn't hold this grudge over her brother's head. He wasn't the cause for what she had to endure when it came to Travis. Yeah, he should've left with him but a closed mouth doesn't get fed. He couldn't protect her if he didn't know what was going on and still doesn't. It was something she could let go of that meant bringing back the meaningful relationship they had.

A knock on the bathroom door grabs her attention. "It's occupied, sorry." She calls out since she had locked herself in the family bathroom.

"Hey hun, I wanted to check on you. Is everything okay? You have been in there for a while." Her date says from behind the door.

"Oh yes, sorry. I'll be out in a minute." She calls out.

"How long you working?" The pity, sorrow, and devastation in Jasai's voice told her that he was disappointed but he wasn't going to try to keep controlling her. She was a grown woman and he had to accept that no matter how bad he wanted to otherwise.

"I don't know," She sighs. "Hopefully not too late."

"Well, I'll be at your crib when ya done. We can finish the conversation there." He proposes. With Rabbit running the streets she could use the company. She hated being lonely sometimes.

"I'll text you when I'm heading home. See ya later."

"Bet."

Jazelle checks herself in the mirror one last time to make sure her appearance was up to her standards. She fixes her hair a bit before exiting the bathroom. Her date leaning against the wall buried in his phone. She took on a deep breath before placing a counterfeit smile on her face. It was time to play the part per usual.

"Sorry to keep you waiting. I wanted to freshen up for our little play date tonight." I say seductively as I strut towards him. His eyes light up as they invade every curve I'm lined with.

"Beautiful. Beautiful. B-e-a-utiful." He compliments me as. He pulls me in close when I'm within arms reach. His hands graze over my lower back giving me an uncomfortable feeling but I quickly brush it off. "You're something else. I can't wait to have fun with you tonight." He says into my ear. I think he was trying to be seductive but it comes off more creepy than anything.

"I have a lot in store for you." I purr back. A grunt escapes his lips and I can feel the bulge print from his slacks.

"Let's go wrap up dinner so we can get the real fun started. Shall we?"

"Sounds like a plan." I smile. He gestures for me to lead the way and I walk ahead back to our secluded table. I take my original seat in front of my half-eaten Salmon teriyaki filet and sliced pickled cucumber. "This was delicious."

"And you look delicious." He says before popping a piece of steak in his mouth. A forced smile displays on my face. No matter how much I did this it was something I would never be fully comfortable with.

We sit in silence for a few minutes as he finishes off his food and I play with mines. Now that I knew I was meeting up with Jasai I wanted to cut this meeting short but I had to give him what he paid for.

"Are you two finding everything alright?" Our waiter approaches the table with a wide smile. "Can I get you guys another bottle of Darioush Viognier?" He asks noticing the previous bottle of wine being polished off; mainly on my behalf so I can get through with this night.

"I think we should be all set. Can you please bring the check?"

"Of course! Would you like this to go, Miss?" The waiter asks.

"Yes, please. That would be great." I give him a small smile. He returns one before grabbing my plate and scurrying off.

Minutes later he was returning with my to-go plate and the bill. The waiter thanks us for coming and in response we thank him for his services. He pays the bill and we are out the door arm in arm heading to the limo waiting outside for us. The limo driver opens the door for us to enter.

"You first, my lady." I climb in the limo and scoot all the way over allowing some room for him to sit. When he settles in, the driver closes the door then gets in the driver seat so we could head to the hotel reserved for this occasion.

I stare out the window getting lost in my own thoughts. I couldn't help but to think about this new entourage Jasai was surrounding himself with. I can admit that I might have a little too combative with them and maybe a little defensive. What was supposed be wasn't but I couldn't blame them for that. I needed to start putting a lot of things into perspective if I wanted them to take me seriously. That meant setting an example to show them I could be a leader.

Out of all of them, Blaze has been the only one to challenge anything I said which I liked. It meant he had a backbone. It meant he had the capabilities to take this new found organization further. I was going to put him to the test and continue to push his patience. Jasai has already molded him but now it was time for me to solidify his foundation.

I noticed the way he looked at me when Tatiana was too busy in la-la land to notice. He was way too easy on the eyes which is why it hasn't bothered me any. He kept it discreet enough but it was still something I caught wind off. I don't think he would be stupid enough to attempt anything. From what I gathered and observed he takes relationship with her seriously. I could only respect that.

The feeling of warm hands being placed on my bare inner thighs diverts my attention over to my date. "You okay over there?" He asks me.

"Perfect." I flash my pearly whites.

"Yes, you are." He mutters as he scoots closer to me. His thumb brushing against my thigh as he begins to place sloppy kisses around my neck. The limo driver pulls up the black screen for some privacy. He slowly inches his hands up my skirt before pressing his thumb against my center. A fake moan escapes my lips as I pretend to enjoy these messy kisses and this lazy finger work.

His kisses grow hungrier as they move down my collarbone then to my chest. He begins to use both hands to grip and fondle my breast through my tube top. His fingers brushing against my nipples as they harden in response. I roll my eyes behind his back as another forced moan is let loose.

Vibrations from his slack's pockets break the moment between us. I'm extremely relieved but hide the fact that this disturb has put our time on a standstill. He lets out a frustrated groan as he digs in his pocket for his phone. A picture of two young boys and a female display on his iPhone screen. It looked like a family portrait. I take a quick look to see that his caller ID read 'Wife'.

He gives me a timid stare unsure if he should answer it. A heavy feeling dawns over me as it always does when the kids and wife start calling. I knew I could be the reason a somewhat happy home may be broken. But I guess they were never happy if this is where they sought out affection.

"Do you mind if I get this? I'll be quick." He tries to reassure me.

"No, it's fine. Go for it, no rush." I brush some loose strains of hair behind my ear. I scoot over to give him privacy to answer the call and direct my attention outside the window.

"Hey Sweetie," I hear him answer the call. "Yes, I'm on my way home now from the office. I had some extra work to catch up on." Oh, thank God! He listens carefully on the other end. I take the time to straighten myself out. I discreetly pull out my phone to text Jasai that I would be home soon. "I'll tuck them in when I get home. Give me about thirty minutes." He lets her know. "Okay, love you too. See you in a little bit." He says before disconnecting the call.

I felt horrible. I felt ashamed. This wasn't the first time a wife or kids has called during a service date. Each time it got a little harder knowing I was intruding during a time that could be spent with them. I wasn't completely heartless but I made it seem that way.

"I'm so so—"

"Don't be." I cut off his apology. "Really it's fine." He gives me a closed lip smile before stuffing his hand in his pocket. He pulls out a yellow envelope which I'm assuming has my pay for the night.

"Your company was amazing even though it was cut short. I really hope I can see you again." He says handing over the envelope. I quickly skim through it to make sure it was all there before stuffing it in my clutch.

"Feel free to book another appointment."

"For sure. Is this a good drop off spot or would you prefer for my driver to bring you to another destination?"

"The hotel is fine. Thank you." I never disclose to any of my clients where I lived.

"Well, we're here." I realize we are now parked in front of the hotel entrance. "I really wish I didn't have to cut this short."

"I know but duty calls. However, it was a pleasure. I look forward to another invite." The limo driver opens my door and helps me out of the car. I make my way into the hotel, wait for him to leave before exiting and going to my car. All I wanted to do was shower this feeling of shame off of me.

I use the towel to hand dry my hair after getting out the shower. I take a seat on the edge of my bed and grab my Lush Sleepy body butter. I smooth it evenly against my skin instantly becoming relaxed. I spritz on some Versace Dylan Blue before getting dressed in a pair of pajamas shorts accompanied by a black spaghetti string top. I finish up my ritual by apply deodorant and completing my six-step skin routine at my vanity.

After all is done, I reach for my phone that's sitting on the charger to see that I received a text message from Jasai saying he was on his way. That was about 20 minutes ago. I text him back quickly to let him know the door is unlocked for him when he arrived.

I plop down on my bed to send another text Rabbit not to stop by tonight in case he decided to show up unannounced like he usually does. It was obviously never a problem but I wanted to take this time to spend time with my brother. We had so much to catch up on.

Summer Walker's Shame begins to play lowly throughout my room depicting my exact feelings. Music has always been my remedy for how I got through any problematic chaos that decides to blow its way through my life. A coping mechanism that temporarily disabled me from living through tough times.

In a perfect world...
You're understanding, I'm not a perfect girl.
I would drop my fears at the door.
I would only bring myself and nothing more.
And you let me be, a woman.
And you let me be, a flawed woman.

"You would yearn to hear all about my past. What I've done, what I've did and why. Hear all my sick thoughts. And if I needed to, I could cry. And you would catch my tears. You don't wanna be nobody else's place, no, aye, no. You don't wanna be nobody else's place, to hide from themselves." I sing lightly before humming the chorus before jumping right back into it. "You see right through me. You see through the smile."

"Sounds good." Jasai's voice grabs my attention as I look up towards the door frame. A smile creeps up on my face at the sight of him. It still felt so surreal that we had reconnected after our long separation. "All those vocal lessons Moms and Pops put you through really did pay off."

"I guess," I say as I watch him take a seat next to me and place his book bag against the side of the bed.

I loved singing. I would always sing for Jasai and Kahlil when I was younger. We would have little talent shows for the three of us. With each other being our own basis judges. There was a time when I used to sing for Travis, that was until he took my voice from me. "I'm glad you called and came over. We have a lot to talk about."

"It was Yaya's idea. She suggested I call since I couldn't stop talking her ear off about you." He starts to get comfortable by kicking off his sneakers off.

"She seems to make you happy. She's good for you." I say due to the observation I've witnessed between the two. Never has Jasai committed to a single female let alone introduce them to our family. I knew if he was introducing her to me then she must be a big deal. Something special.

"Yea, she's a keeper." He agrees with a thin smile. "Plus we can't continue to carry on the way we've been going. You know we stronger than this, Jaz. We have a bond that's supposed to be unbreakable."

"We still do."

"You used to tell me everything. No matter how big or small. I knew everything as you did with me. But it's like ever since you started dating Travis—" The mention of his name makes me cringing wanting to cut the conversation short already.

"I'm not talking about him tonight! I'm not doing it!" I snap at him unintentionally as I jump off the bed to exit my room.

"What did he do, Jaz?" I speed walk towards the livingroom with him hot on my tail. "Because he told me some shit before we disconnected that I really ain't feeling."

I stop dead in my tracks and quickly turn on my heels to face him. "Like what?" I spit out angrily. Knowing Travis and his ways he probably misconstrued the entire situation to Jasai to make himself look better.

Jasai sighs, "Look it doesn't matter right now! What matters is what he did to you to make you run like that."

"What did he tell you, Jai?" That's all I could think about as tears welled up in the brim of my eyelids. He clenches his jaw knowing I was on the verge of letting them fall. "Please just tell me what he told you."

"Yo, what's going on?" Travis bust through the door. After waiting over 45 minutes for Jazelle to make her grand entrance she was nowhere to be found. It prompts an angry Travis to jet down the aisle towards the back where Jazelle was supposed to be waiting. "Where's Jaz?" He searches around the room.

"She dipped. She's gone." A frantic Jasai says holding his phone up to his ear. He was already on his fifteenth attempt to call Jazelle. Her calls ringing each time until they reached her voicemail. He opts to leave her his tenth message. "I ain't leaving yo ass no more damn messages. Stop playin' these games. Hit me back, fool." He sighs while hanging up the line before looking over at a deranged Travis.

He was fuming with so much anger that it was difficult not to show. Last night Jazelle and he had gotten into another heated argument. One that resulted in verbal and physical abuse by his hands. He figured after last night she would have learned her lesson. A lesson he's been trying to teach her since he took Kizzle's life: she belongs to him.

"She said she ain't happy. What's good wit that shit?" Everything Jazelle said lingered with Jasai although it may have come across that way to her. He took in every word but now he was regretting the fact he didn't take it as serious, to begin with.

"She said that?" Travis says in fake disbelief. He knew that but would never allow Jasai to think otherwise.

His sister was his heartbeat, his reasoning for everything. He'd kill anything that caused her harm or suffering. It didn't matter how minuscule. He'd jump hurdles to assure his sister was always secure with her feelings.

Travis knew that so he would say anything if that meant protecting his safety.

"If you ain't making my sister happy you already know that's a problem for me."

"I give her everything she fucking needs! She always in good hands with me. I treat her right, my nigga. Exactly how the deserves to be treated." Little did he know that meant with the least respect as possible. The bottom of the barrel type of respect. Nothing about the way Travis treated her screamed honor. It was the total opposite.

"How's she deserves to be treated is like a queen and nothing less. If she ain't happy you ain't doing ya part."

"How you really gon believe that after the shit I had to do for her. I protected her. I saved her life." He says referring to taking down Kizzle. He knew very well that killing him only damaged Jazelle more than she had already become. His continuous ill-treatment upon her adding more strain on her physical and mental. That's all their relationship consisted of once the honeymoon phase wore off. A love turned into despise.

"You ain't about to be blaming my sister for that shit. And honestly that story still not adding up to me. That was my brother. I grew up with him since middle school. I knew his relationship with Jazelle. That was his little sister too. He'd never turn a gun to her." Travis chuckles which put Jasai on defense. "Is that why you killed him? You was jealous?"

"Are you serious man? You know damn well that's not why I killed him. Jazelle already confirmed my story."

"So tell me what the fuck is going on?! She barely talks to me anymore. It's like ever since she been fucking with you she's been backing away from me. That's not like her!" Jasai finally releases his frustration. Throughout the years he's noticed how Jazelle has been drifting away from their relationship. She stopped opening up to him like she used to.

At first, he didn't approve of Jazelle dating Travis for the simple fact she was young when they met. She had just turned 16 and at the time Travis was 21. He wanted to beat Travis to a bloody pulp when he learned from his baby sister that she was dating a man much older than her. Jazelle put up the biggest fight to stop her brother from murdering a man he felt had no business dealing with such a young soul. He knew the consequences and how naive she was at the time.

Kizzle was right behind him ready to take Travis out for even thinking about messing Jazelle. Their relationship was a strange one to depict. To the world, they were close friends, almost like adopted siblings. But behind closed doors, they formulated a relationship that eventually blossomed into true love. He was no better than Travis he thought, especially since he was doing this behind his best friend's back.

But Jazelle begged and pleaded with tears and cries for Jasai not to do the unthinkable. She loved him... or so she thought.

So eventually they caved in and let the relationship happen. If only they could go back in time they would.

"Real shit, I know where this is all stemming from." Travis says. The news he was going to deliver was going to be a hard pill to swallow but he would definitely be using it to his advantage.

"So talk, my nigga." Jasai says not ready to beat around the bush.

"Kizzle and Jazelle had a thing..." Travis sighs.

"What type of thing?" Jasai mugs him.

"I found out a couple of weeks ago she was cheating on me with him." Travis knew for some time that Jazelle and Kahlil were messing around. One of the reasons his abusive ways had started. It got even worse when he found out that her feelings were stronger than he imagined them to be. "We got into an argument and she came clean to me. She's been acting different since Kizzle so I assumed it was 'cause they were tight but she admitted they were having some type of affair."

Jasai stood there unsure of what to say let alone what to think. Nothing about the recent events that played out made any sense to him. From his best friend having a sexual relationship with his little sister to him turning the gun on her for the full profit from the stickup. Kahlil wasn't built that way. He at least hoped these accusations were invalid.

But with Kahlil no longer able to speak his truth, his sister now MIA all he had was Travis' false words.

"I know this is difficult to hear man but you can ask herself. That's probably why she's been so distance especially since... you know, he had to go." Travis was a master manipulator. "You saw how hard she took his death. She wasn't expecting him to flip or turn on her because of their history. History I ain't find out about until recently." Travis continues to lie through his teeth.

Jasai letting the words sink in as he tries to connect the dots. They still weren't aligning. He needed further confirmation.

"We've been growing apart since I found out. I thought the wedding would bring us closer together and all since I decided to forgive her. I guess I just wasn't enough." Travis continues as he tries to throw a pity party for himself.

Honestly, Jasai didn't care about his feelings or how Jazelle had "hurt" him. His mind was still stuck on this private fling his best friend and sister were having behind his back. He was still stuck on why they both felt the need to hide this from him.

"We gotta go find her." Jasai says before grabbing his suit coat and rushing out the dressing room. Travis feelings were the least of his concern. He needed to find his sister for answers before he could make the appropriate moves.

"It was so natural, Jai." Jazelle laughs through tears. We were now seated on her couch. She tucks her leg under her butt as I wipe the various tears staining her cheeks. "We wanted to tell you but you already took me being with Travis like it was the most devastating thing that ever happened to you."

"But you know I would've approved of you being with Kahlil before Travis... any day. Y'all could've told me."

"We didn't know how." She sniffles.

"Come here," I mumble as I pull her close to me. She cuddles into my chest and I wrap my arms around her to console her. "You never have to hide ANYTHING from me. You hear me?" She wraps her arms around my torso tightly.

This was the Jazelle I remembered. That vulnerable girl who would let her guard down anytime I was around because she felt that safe and comfortable. She knew I would never let a fly hurt her yet I was still catching the vibe that she was holding back. I was going to take Blaze's advice and not press her. I'd wait until she was ready. I knew eventually she'd open up once we re-established our relationship.

"I'm just so happy you're back, Jai. I don't want us to separate again." She stares up at me with glossy eyes.

"Never." I kiss her on the forehead. "You're my baby sister. I'd die for you. I should've gone with you back then. I thought I knew what was best." I had big regrets but all we could do was fix the present instead of focusing on the past.

"I forgive you, as long as you stay I'll continue to forgive you." I nod as I pull her in closer and rest my chin on the top of her head.

"Remember when I told you that we are one."

"That we should've been conjoined at the hip: Siamese twins? How could I forget?" She giggles as she pulls away to look at me. "We didn't even want to leave each other's side at overnight camp."

"Remember that one year where we tried to dress you like a boy so we all could be in the same cabin? Moms and Pops was pissed when they got that call. Had to come pick us up the next day because we didn't want to be separated." I reminisce with a bright smile on my face. Those were the carefree days that had nothing but minor stress.

"First off I wasn't sleeping in that cabin with those catty bitches and spiders. I knew if I was with you and Kizzle I could avoid the drama and y'all would kill the spiders for me."

"Not my problem you a pussy when it comes bugs." She sticks up her middle finger because she knew it was true. Anything insect related she wasn't fucking with. If it had multiple legs, could fly, beady eyes or looked outright creepy, she'd rebuke it.

"I hate those fucking critters." She squirms in her seat making me laugh. "Remember when all my friends would make fun of me because you and Kahlil were always my dates to all my school dances? I rejected so many advances just to go with you guys."

"And we would never end up staying the whole dance. We probably were breaking into houses and cars. Stealing shit we had no business stealing."

"I lost all my friends hanging out with you two bean headed bitches." She shakes her head playfully.

"No, you just couldn't hold friends, Jazelle." Through her entire lifetime, Jazelle maybe had one friend and even they fell out over something stupid. Every time she tried to make a friend they would end up fighting. It was because she couldn't bite her tongue for the life of her. She always spoke her mind no matter how rude it came across. Most of the time her intentions weren't malicious. She just had a hard time formulating her words.

"It's because you were on my hip, Jasai. No one liked you. You were the problem."

"Correction: Everybody feared me."

"I mean you were funny looking. Still kinda are." She shrugs. I push her shoulder playfully causing her to laugh.

"So we good again?" After our first conversation, I thought we were but I wanted to make sure moving forward we could coexist without arguing. I wanted us to be that power team we once were.

"We gucci, my nigga." I give her a skeptical funny face. I juggle my eyebrows making her bust out in laughter. "I'm serious, Jai. We good! I ain't got the time to argue with you anymore. Ya breath be madd hot. Ion got the time."

"Yo, fuck you, ugly." I jump at her. She flinches with a tiny giggle. "Aye, and loosen up on my team, aight? You scaring them niggas away. I got an elite team of people and I can't afford to lose them."

"Well tell them to stay in their place then!"

"Reese barely speaks to you unless it's to say hi. Flaco scared of you and Blaze treading water with you. Heard y'all exchange some words earlier today. You told him he's replaceable?"

"Because he is."

"He isn't. You haven't seen this man drive." Blaze was the most valuable person on my team. I wasn't about to let Jazelle try to scare him off. I knew it would take a hell lot more for him to leave my side. I still preferred not to take any chances.

"They all have something to prove to me. Until further notice, they will be treated as if they're disposable."

"This is exactly why you have no friends."

"Lies. I have friends... well, I have a friend. He's the most idiotic, simple-minded yet caring, goofy person I ever met." She gushes.

"Oh, so he's like you but in male form?" I say throwing shade.

"Basically." She cheeses at me. Completely unphased by my semi-insult. "I would really love for you to meet him one day. He's has a couple of missing screws but I think you'll love him as much as I do."

"One day... for now, let's officially celebrate this reunion." I say pulling out the blunt tucked behind my ear.

"I get high, high, high, high." She quotes Styles P.

"Everyday," I say before sparking the blunt. We sit in a cozy silence for a while as we pass the blunt back and forth. I used to pray for times like this during our severance. All I had was old memories to reminisce on but here we were making new ones.

With the blunt down to a roach, I put it out in the ashtray. I hold my pinky out and she locks hers with mines. She stares at me with low red eyes. A small grin crowning her face indicating that our reconciliation was just as gratifying to her as it was to me.

"I'm here for eternity..."

"Infinity." She adds.

"And beyond." We say simultaneously completing our simple but extremely meaningful saying.
