All set for the beach this coming weekend. Last weekend of Jana and Jer here in the Philippines.
"Mom? I'm going to the hospital na po!" I shouted
"Okay sweetheart, you takecare. Keep everything cool, okay? Loveyou!" Mommy
"Sure thing! Love you toooo, byeeeee!" Me and I drove to work
St. Lukes Medical Center,
Quezon City
On my way to my office ...
"Doc, pinapatawag po kayo sa conference room today!" My secretary said. Just that, no greetings!
"Oookay?? Chill out Cel, Goodmorning?" Sabi ko
"I'm sorry Doc." She said with sadness
"C'mon, what's bothering you?" Sabi ko dahil biglang nabakas ang worried face ni Cel
"Doc, okay lang po ako. Please proceed to the conference room na lang po muna. They are all waiting for you" Sabi nya at pilit na ngumiti
"Hayyy, okay. Wait? They are all waiting? For me? Also Dra. Lazaro and Dr. Valdez? What is going on? What's the purpose of this sudden conference meeting?" Tanung ko
"Doc De Leon?" Dr. Montalbo (The New Assistant Head Doctor)
"Yes Doc?" And I turned to him
"All heads are waiting for you, shall we?" Dr. Montalbo
"Ofcourse Doc! Hey, Cel, catch you later, magkwento ka" Sabi ko at inayos ang suot na white coat at eyeglasses ko
"Uhm, Dr. Montalbo? What is it all about? Why so sudden? It is that urgent?" Sunod sunod kong tanung sa kanya.
"You just have to believe in yourself this time, Doc. You're record being on your position is extraordinary, brilliant and exemptional" Malabong sagot ni Dr. Kib Montalbo
As we enter the conference room, all eyes is on me. Except mommy Den and Babba Ly. They are both look sooo, uhmmmm, unhappy.
Umupo ako sa tabi nina mommy, "hey, mom? Bab? What's up? Any idea about this?" Tanung ko sa kanilang dalawa
Waaaait! Why is Thirdy here?? Anong nangyayari dito!
Bago pa man mkasagot si mommy Den at babba Ly ay nagsalita na si Dr. Montalbo
"Goodmorning everyone, this is sudden, I know. " Dr. Montalbo
"This is it!" Dr. Ravena
"What is this all about?" Tanung ko dahil para bang may mali, bakit parang ako yung gigisahin nila
"This is all about you Dr. De Leon" Dr. Go, head of Pathology Dept.
"What? Why me?" Sagot ko
"Your performance on your position is unquestionably excellent. Your Patients and all those people under your administration are all saying that you're the best in everything you do. However ..." Dr. Montalbo
Napatingin nman ako ng straight to his eyes.
"The condition of your amnesia is the conflict and the main concern of one of your doctors under your supervision" Dr. Montalbo
"My amnesia? I believe, it doesn't affect my job doc. My amnesia doesn't define my passion to help my patients and to solve all of their needs all at once. Why now? What's really going on? With all due respect on all of you here my co-department head doctors" I humbly mumbled, even I am frustrated.
Isn't it frustrating? And the hell? Who wouldn't be? You do all the best and yet, it is always not enough? Or should I say, there's always some people who will drag you down!
"What is going on is, we decided that Dr. Ferdinand Ravena will be in-charge on the cardiology department, effective immediately. Until you're fully recovered from your amnesia." Dr. Montalbo
My world stopped, my heart skip a lot of beats and my walls suddenly falls apart. Just that? Just a little whisper and my dedication on what I do best has been judged?
Naiiling iling na lang akong tumayo sa kinauupuan ko, wala nman na kong magagawa e, bago pa pala nila ko ipatawag, they have already decided. Hindi man lang nila hinayaan na idefend ko yung sarili ko. This is a heartbreak. Painful, very very painful, unfairly painful. But I have no choice but to accept this decision. Atleast, I'm still a doctor. Hindi man ako head ng department na kinabibilangan ko, I'm still a doctor and I do really am a professional!
"Thankyou doctors! I humbly respect your decision. But please don't close your respective doors if I have something to contribute or something I may be concern of" sabi ko at pilit na ngumiti. Isa isa nman silang tumango saken, except to my own dept. head!
"This meeting is adjourned, thankyou doctors" Dr. Montalbo
"Face the reality Doctor Isabel Beatriz De Leon, you just think you're capable to the job but sadly, you don't" Doc Ravena with his glare of success
And that's why, I know what it's all about and who initiates this conference meeting, who secretly talk to all the department heads just to bring them on the conference room and to their decision.
"Yeah, you're maybe right, Dr. Ravena, my apologies." Sabi ko
"And by the way, Congratulations on your new position, may you have all the luck and blessings with you" I continued
But I think even I said a good and humble words, I pissed him off and he's about to explode about it saying;
"You can't just win in every fight and position you wanna have bro, baka ikaw ang dapat maggrow up, dahil feeling mo, palagi kang mananalo. Kahit hindi nman." Thirdy
Umiling na lang ako at nagpatuloy sa paglabas ng conference room.
"Goodluck Doctor" before the door closes
"One more thing, Dr. De Leon...." Thirdy na pinigilan pala ang pinto sa pagsara para mag sabi nanaman ng isa pang sentence ng mga nonsense nya.
"What now?" My half turned reply
"I'm just giving you until this afternoon to clear your things on my office. Please lang wag kang hassle, vacates it" Thirdy
Nasisira ang pangalan ng isa sa mga prominenteng ospital dito sa Pilipinas ng dahil kay Thirdy!
"No worries. Would that be all?" Tanung ko with my regular fresh face.
"Yes!!" Geesss! I think I do really pissed him off
I'm about to continue walking but I forgot something to tell to Thirdy,
"And ohh, wait! I'm bringing Cel with me. Since I'm the one who hired her here, so she's coming with me. To our new simple tiny office" sabi ko
"If I were you, I'll be better get started looking for your own assistant. Be picky this time. The one who is really know how the work is done. Like Cel" I smiled on his redish face because of anger I guess and I continue walking.
"Heyy Cel?" I smiled at her when I'm already approaching my ex-office
"Doc? I'm so sorry, If I acted like that po knina. Sorry po. Sobra po akong nagwoworry sa inyo, sa magiging resulta ng meeting na yun at iniisip ko din po na baka huling araw ko na ngayon dito sa ospital" dire-diretso sabi ni Cel
"Ghaaad, you speak so fast Cel, nagfifliptop battles ka ata before kita ihired as a private secretary e" biro ko pa
"Are you mad Doc? Sorry po" Cel
"You don't have to be sorry. I'm not mad. So c'mon help me vacating this office. We'll move on the smaller office with Dr. Dy and Dr. Wong" I said
"Doc, is this mean ...." Cel
"Yeah, you will be our new secretary. Is it okay with you?" I ask her
"There will never be a problem Doc. Thankyou poooo" she rejoice
"Let's clean this office and fix our new office" aya ko sa kanya at nagstart na kaming mag ayos ng mga gamit.
Jho
"Long weekend and holyweek is approaching but I guess someone is still acting like there will be a chapter quiz to review, feasibility studies and portfolios to finish" Maddie who is barging in my apartment (our old apartment)
"C'mon, what are you thinking? What's bothered you anyway? Aside from Bea?" Kian
"Oh? Asan si Tey? Bakit kayong dalawa lang ang nanggugulo dito?!" Sabi ko with rolling eyes pa and trying to escape on the questions
"Ewan ko ba. Things are off between us lately after the last week naten kina Bea. I don't know. Even Pong and Dean have this same scenario lately. Masyado silang busy. Wait, you're not answering our questions!" Kian
"Pati ba naman sa LQ parehas pa din kayong dalawa sa magkapatid na yan?" Sabi ko
He just shrugged it off like later-na-naten-yan-pagusapan-look like he doesn't really wanna talk about it. Just like Bea. They have a lot of things in common. Hayyyyy nako.
"Nothing is bothering me!" I said letting the topic comes back to me
"Aside from Bea and that Beach thingy this coming holyweek" I continued
"Why? Anong nakakabother dun?" Maddie
"Ewan ko. It feels like that I have something to worry about" I exclaimed
"Napapraning ka nanaman." Kian
Kriiiing. Kriiiing.. Kriiiing... Kriiiing....
Dean Wong Calling....

"So? Sagutin mo kaya?" Sabi ko
"I'm not having a good feeling about it" sabi ni Kian at sinagot ang phone nya
While Kian is having an intense conversation with Dean ..
"So anuna Jho? Anong move na? Now that you know na wala naman palang pumalit sayo sa puso si Bei? Ano nang next move?" Tanung ni Maddie saken
Oo nga, ano nga bang plano ko? Ano nga bang dapat kong gawin? May dapat ba kong gawin? Kung meron? Ano yun? Should I still wait until some new memory of him come up on his mind? What should I do? What things should I make ? What move should be done? Ayan instant nanaman ang mga iniisip ko.

Tey Gaston Calling....

"What on earth? Tumatawag nman si Tey saken" Maddie and tumingin kami kay Kian na patuloy pa din ang pakikipagusap kay Dean
"Ano bang nangyayari?" Tanung ko
"Hello Twinny? Bakit?" Maddie on the phone
"Oo, andito sya. Kasama ko sya dito sa apartment ni Jho, bakit?"
"Hindi, malayo layo sya, kase kausap nya si Dean ngayon, bakit ba? Is there something wrong?" Patuloy ni Maddie sa pakikipagusap
"LQ ba toh? Bakit ganyan ang sinasabi mo? Asan si Ponggay?"
"Why don't you both come here and let's talk things over?"
"What? Now? How? Why so sudden? Wait! C'mon twinny" Maddie and I guess Tey hang up
"Why? Anong nangyayari?" Sabi ko
"The message is not clear from Tey, basta sabi nya, they're all migrating to Australia for good. Its for the best daw. And it's so sad not to see how Bea recovered pero this is for everyone's sake" Maddie
"Is that it? No goodbyes? No take cares? Thats it?" Nalilito kong tanung
"Matagal na nameng napagusapan toh at matagal na din nameng inaasahan na ganito ang magiging kalalabasan nito, hindi ko lang inaasahan na ganito pa din kasakit" Kian at nagsimula ng umiyak
Hindi din nman namen mapigilan na mapaiyak at madala sa iyak ni Kian dahil ramdam ko yung sakit na dala nya.
"What do you mean?" Maddie
"Explanation later. We need to find Dean. Lasing sya" Kian trying to be strong
"Jho, call Bea. We need him here" Maddie and tumango na lang ako
Gulong gulo man ako ay ginawa ko na lang ang sabi ni Maddie saken habang palabas kami ng condo.
"Ako na lang Kian ang magdadrive" sabi ko
"Kaya ko nman e, ako na lang" Kian
"Kian, ako na lang. Let me drive." Me with authority in my voice
Tumango na lang sya at umupo sa backseat ng kotse.
"Where do we start?" Maddie
"What do we do?" Maddie again
"We need to think of places that should probably the place where we can find Dean!" Jho
"But First, have to speak to Bea already?" Maddie
"Oo nga pala! Ghad, I forgot." Ako at agad kong dinial ang number ni Bea
Few minutes after while driving.... while driving tlga kahit alam kong bawal.
"Hindi sya sumasagot! Where he will be right now?" Sabi ko dahil hindi sumasagot si Bea sa phone nya
"On a meeting? On an operation? Or having his lunch?" Maddie at tinginan ko sya
"What? Hindi nman tlga hobby ni Bea ang tumingin ng phone nya diba? Sabi mo" Maddie at napailing na lang ako.
Dialling....
Beatriz De Leon ....
"Hi it's Bea. I'm sorry for not answering your call. Just please leave a message after the beep" beep
"Bea, call me back ASAP. This is urgent" me leaving a voicemail to her.
Where do we start looking? Where do we start? Para kaming mga blangkong papel na walang kahit anong bakas kung saan magsisimula.
And there's a part of me having phobia encountering this kind of situation. And that last time is I loss the most important person in this world for me.
