Evie POV:
I stretched as I stepped out of the car, now hidden off road, "has it ever occurred to any of our species that woods are a dumb place to live, so hard to walk in."
"Maybe it wouldn't be if you stopped wearing such ridiculous shoes."
I growled softly, "don't question a woman's choice of footwear. Ever."
Asmos shook his head at me but started into my packs territory anyways. "Lets make this quick I have been away from my pack too long, absence breeds rebellion."
Following him, I eyed his broad back as we walked, "rebellion happen often in your pack?"
"No." He started, "It does not but it happens when alphas are away some wolves get foolish thoughts."
I hummed a bit, trotting to catch up and walk beside him, "well I doubt this will take too long. How are we getting back to your pack?"
"Our flight is at ten tonight."
I nodded, "that gives us plenty of time for me to say goodbye to Mel and my family thanks."
He scoffed a bit, "and give them time to attack."
His growl started low in his chest.
Sighing a bit I took his hand, "or you Mel and I can go into the human town and get some lunch if you don't wanna be in the pack that long?"
He glanced at me from the corner of his eye, "perhaps."
"we can go to my favorite diner. They have great milkshakes."
"Do you often wonder human towns?"
I shrugged, "I like them. No one knows me and I'm just another person."
"I see..."
I eyed the point where the woods became my pack, "Asmos?"
"Hm?"
"What happens if we decide to break our bond? I can't be a rogue, I'm sure you wouldn't want me around, and my but old pack might not be an option."
He didn't say much for a moment, thumb stroking my hand, "we will discuss this further in our relationship when we see where this is developing."
That wasn't helpful at all.
In fact I'm pretty sure it means he has no idea either.
Great. Just great.
The man wants me but he doesn't, I'm his but maybe not permanently, I need to leave home for him but only on a trial period.
I really needed to see Mel.

I wasn't too surprised to see the looks Asmos and I received as we made our way through pack grounds.
The judgement directed at me then the glance of fear in his direction.
Asmos of course seemed utterly unfazed by the entire thing. "You wish to see your parents or your friend first?"
"Mel is likely at my house waiting so both?" I looked at him from the corner of my eye, "we are gonna drink mimosas. Its not me-"
"I know." He cut me off, "enjoy the moment with your friend, but do not drink too much, the trip home is long."
"How long exactly?" I questioned.
"About a five hour flight, then a four hour dive and a mild hike. Wear comfortable shoes."
I gaped at him as we walked toward my house, "what sort of stronghold do you live in?"
"An impenetrable one."
"How far is the nearest human town?"
"Ten miles." He paused looking me over, "but their largest store is a walmart. They do not have a mall, or one of those places you always get those burritos I see on your snap chat."
I nearly laughed at the fact that he actually watched my snap stories.
Would have.
But this is seriously not funny, "chipotle. They don't even have a fucking chipotle?"
"No."
I practically whined, "I don't think I can do this Asmos. Are there any bars?"
"One. Its closed on Sundays for religious purposes."
I gapped at him, "no."
"Yes."
"B-but Asmos." I was totally whining at him now, "you obviously like your flannel shirts a little too much-" he looked down at himself with a frown, "-but like your also sophisticated and hot. Your flannels are expensive. Not walmart." I practically cringed. "What am I supposed to do in my free time?"
"Something in the pack." He deadpanned.
I stopped in my tracks, ignoring his irritated look, "absolutely not. Asmos, I cannot and will not just sit in a pack in the middle of nowhere forever. I'm sure there's plenty to do," not, "but like I need time outside of a wolf pack. Where I can be just another girl. Not an alphas daughter, not an alphas mate. Just a girl."
"You are not just a girl Evie."
"But I'll go crazy it I can't even pretend to be normal Asmos.
He growled slightly in obvious irritation, "what do you expect Evie? Me to move my entire pack? Make the town grow bigger? Open your damn burrito store? The location of my pack is the most secure for us."
I shook my head, "of course I don't expect any of that Asmos. But is there any bigger towns or cities nearby?"
He seemed to think it over, "Yes."
A relived smile made its way onto my face.
"Four to six hours away depending on traffic."
My smile shattered, "what?"
"Four to-"
"I heard you! What the fuck Asmos?! How did you even find this location? Cut off some dudes head and decide to start your own pack in that exact spot while you were travilin around doing rogue crap?!"
"More or less yes."
I gaped at him, "fuck fucking shit biscuits fuckidy fuck fuck!"
He sort of just looked at me as a throat cleared, "Everything okay Evie?"
We both looked to where Melody stood, mimosas in hand and brows furrowed.
Her cheeks tinted as she caught Asmo's gaze, "sorry guys..if you need a moment I can come back? Evies house is packed right now so I thought it would be nice to have a quiet toast first but-"
I snatched one of the three glasses from her, downing it, "he wants me to live off the grid Mel. The closest town consists of a Walmart."
She blinked, "a...wallmart?"
I nodded.
Staring at me stone faced she handed Asmos a mimosa, "congratulations on finding your mate Alpha Lelantos." She then opened the backpack she held, pulled out champagne orange juice and a flask, "I know tequila isn't your favorite. But girl you need it."
I took the flask from her, "your the best."
Asmos snatched it from me, "Evie."
I growled, "Asmos does my lingerie look like its from walmart?!"
Mel nodded, sipping her drink, "I can tell you right now it's probably more than rent in that podunk town."
"RIGHT?!" I held out my glass for more champagne.
Mel being the goddess she is forwent the orange juice, "I dont see you doing well with that Eve's. Alpha Lelantos please tell me theres a mall nearby?"
"Six. Hours. Away." I answered for him.
Melodys nose wrinkled, "thats horrible. Does this town have a movie theater."
My gaze whipped to Asmos, eyes hopeful.
I like movies.
Movies are great.
He shook his head, "no."
I visibly deflated.
I'm a city girl. Its hard enough being a wolf and loving the city.
Even worse knowing theres no city to visit.
Asmos handed his glass to Mel before tucking his fingers under my chin and making me look up at him, "this is going to be very difficult for you...not having a place to do frivolous things?"
I scowled, "I'm a teenager Asmos. Its not frivolous to me. Its a way my generation passes time."
"Truth!" Came Mels helpful reply.
Asmos searched my face for a moment, "we will buy you a car, you can spend a weekend in the city on occasion and perhaps day trips if nothing of importance is happening."
I blinked at him.
Mel sputtered on her mimosa. "Ohmygods! WERE GETTING A CAR!" She screeched.
Suddenly I was pulled outa Asmos's grip by the tiny blonde, laughing.
The two of us where jumping up and down hand in hand squealing like idiots when Asmos opened his fat mouth, "technically Evie is. You are remaining here."
Mel abruptly stopped, "wait a second. Evie said you were thinking about letting me live with you guys."
I nodded, turning to my mate with her, "you said that. And like your insane if you think I'm going to last long in the middle of nowhere without my number one girl. So obviously Mel is coming to live with us."
His brow arched, "even if she was accepted into my pack, we would need time to build a home for her."
"Why?" Mel and I spoke as one.
"She would need a place to live."
"Yeah..." I started, "with us."
Mel nodded.
Asmos looked at me like I has just told him I was luna herself come to avenge the wolves he had slaughtered, "you are joking."
"Asmos, shes 17 She can't just live alone. Plus she doesn't know anyone. Obviously she's living with us."
"Absolutely not. Shes a grown ass woman. If she comes to my pack she can certainly live alone."
Mel and I glanced at one another. "There is no if Asmos. You expect me to live in nowhere land? I need her. She can be our neighbor."
Mel nodded, "I'm a great neighbor! And I wont even use your bathtub with Evie more than once a week."
"Oh?" I asked surprise, "wow great compromise Mel!"
We high fived.
"How..." Asmos Started, "is that a compromise."
"Mel and I do everything together. Except sex. But that's because she's waiting for a mate and neither of us like girls."
Melody nodded, "otherwise we would totally share dudes right Evie?"
"Oh 100% we share makeup, hair product, clothes-"
"Although I can never wear yours well because of your height and tits. Your miniskirts tho. I always borrow."
"Totally. We also shower together like 50% of the time. We are almost always in one another room. Whats hers is mine and whats mine is hers."
The tiny blonde nodded, "well except you of course Alpha Lelantos. You're all Evies."
I nodded. "So obviously this is a compromise."
"No." Asmos started, "its not. I told you I would consider her moving. But none of that we are one best friend shit."
Mel squared her shoulders eyes narrowed as she gazed up at the man easily three times her size, "then you can't have Evie."
