"You know what ikram? I even asked him fa and he said she is just a friend," I uttered.
"Abegii! That's what he will say besides have you forgotten that he is #MR PRIVATE," ikram said to me.
Oh! Yeah and we both burst into laughter.
"This is 6:34pm,"I mentioned,Adda Safiya ought to have returned from school.
"Oh! She wont come back today" she made known. Actually, she will be staying at the hostel now with a friend,
turns out she can't concentrate when she is at home and Ikram is with mum.
"Oh! She is so lucky but wait oh,
Why can't I also join her?" I asked.
"Girl! I don't know o",she said with simple directness. Anyway,I met a guy today.
"OMG! Tell me more Ikram" I squealed.
"chill"
"Alright! Now tell me"
The thing is, i wanted to cross the road and well,he kept following me and you know the rest.
"Hmmm...har an girma(someone is all grown up)"i said with a mock.
"Haha...Whatever" she replied.
"Girl, i gats to go watch some movies and wait up! You mean that handyman has not fixed the washing machine yet".
"Yes o..i heard mummy speaking to him and i think he will bring it back on Friday" i answered.
"Thank God cuz my palms are now hard and not more attractive" she stated while moving her hands in a twisting way.
"Haha...drama queen... just endure OK!"
"Yeah! So do you want to join me in watching H2O?" I asked.
"Nah!! I will pass this time"
Okey dokey and she left.
I went to the parlour and started watching H20(just add water).
"Hell!! Who is this disturbing my movie time? They always seem to call when am trying to enjoy something" I kept mumbling.
"Oh! It is actually Sabeehah" when I checked the caller ID.
Well, Sabeehah is actually my course mate and partly a friend...not that close though.
"Hi girl...what's up? How have you been?" I kept bombarding her with questions.
"Girl, have been fine and slow down with the questions would ya?"
"Haha...anyway this call seems surprising you know. Whats up?"
"Well, just wanted to greet you and also inform you that due to the easter holiday coming up
There won't be any lectures."
"Wow!! Alhamdulilah...Thanks a lot for the good news. Gosh! I am so happy".
We talked about some other stuffs and then the call came to an end.
I could not help but scream out loud in joy. I am not finna go to that hell they call school(pardon my language here).
My phone rang again..."hmmm seems like people remembering me these days" I said to myself. The caller ID was an unknown number. I uttered "bismillah"- and picked the call.
"Salam!" I heard feminine voice at the other side.
Which was quite familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.
"Weird!" I mumbled.
"Wasalam!,sorry to ask, but who am i speaking with?" I asked.
"Oh! Sorry about that,I am Adiva Abbas Muhammad" she answered.
"Hmm...Adiva Abbas Muhammad" i said while stroking my chin trying to recall.
Omg!! I couldn't help but scream when it finally clicked.
"So,its you. Woah! I can't believe it" I let out another ear deafening scream.
"How have you been? How is Saudi?
How are your parents?" I kept bombarding her with questions as if am some detective.
"Chill!!" came in her melodious voice into my ears. Her voice was really soothing, gosh! I just admire it.
The way her accent was,It was just Masha Allah.
"Khadija! I have been fine and everything is fine and how are your sisters, brother and parents and school stuffs?" She queried in a friendly fashion.
"Well,alhamdulilah!" I replied.
"Anyway, Khadi guess what?" She said in a soft voice.
"Nah! Can't guess not a good guesser you remember" I assured her.
"Just give it a try"
"Alright alright,persistent much...
Sorry,girl can't really guess."
"Hmm...is it that you do not know how to speak Hausa again or..." I said with a curious tone.
"Hahaha no INA fa ji haryanzu( I do hear)"she answered.
"Haha... Lallae ma and how about Arabic?" I asked the most stupid question this time around.
"Wanna try me girl?" She chuckled.
"Yeah, let's go ahead"
Adiva:Ma ismokee?(what's your name)
Khadi: Ismee Khadijah
Adiva: Khadija ana qadim iilaa nayjiria( I am coming to Nigeria)
Khadi: Raye!! Hal lirial madrid!(wow!!Are you for real) ya Allah!
That's like so awesome
Adiva: I was planning on coming to your house tomorrow. You free right?
Khadi: Yeah,no lectures thankkk God.
Adiva: Hmm...how about we hang out when I come...That's OK by you right? You know for old times sake and its been a while tho
Khadi: Are you for real? And young lady, its has been a decade not a while.
We continued chit chatting for a while until the adhan for maghrib was called.
Adiva: Alright, gats to go pray now.
"Alright, well cant say me too.How about me out" I said and we both laughed.
"Alright!"
Hahaha...Anyway,how about i say a little about Adiva, mi sweetie,mi honey bunch and what not.
Adiva has been my friend since like forever, infact, since when we were in diapers and we partially grew up together and partially because at the age of five we were seperated. well, her dad got transferred to another state and they had to pack there and then I got to know she was sent to Saudi Arabia to school and other stuffs. We eventually lost contact and well, really amazing that she still remembers me.Why you ask? Well, because after a while most people tend to forget me or I get replaced.
"Asalamualaikum!" Mum voice echoed.
"Wasalam! Mummy, you are back" I ran to the door and hugged her.
"Ya Allahu! Khadi you are all grown up fa and you are behaving like a kid" she said trying to let go of my grip.
"Haba mama...i am just happy to see you" I giggled.
"And the witch is back" I said when I saw Liham.
"Haha whatever..." she stuck her tongue out.
I also sticked out my tongue imitating her.
We can be childish at times.
"Khadi!!" Mama called out.
"Na'am mama" I answered.
"Come and dish out some plates on the table and call Ikram downstairs while I go freshen up. I forgot to ask,is your dad back?"
"Yes mama...he is back" I answered.
"Toh Allah ya miki albarka(may God bless you)" She headed to her room.
"Amin!!" I answered.
*******************
"Ikram" I shouted upon coming in contact with Ikram's room that was locked.
"Yes ! Can I help you?" She finally spoke.
"K!Mama da liham sun dawo(they are back) and they brought Suya and a lot of things if you like don't come downstairs.
seriously you have been in the room like a witch" in I successfully delivered my message.
"Omg!" Am coming she answered back.
******************
I headed back downstairs to set the dishes on the table. Just then everyone started coming in from every which way.
In no time...food was served and we were complete well except for Adda Safiya.
We chatted away, jokes were told, stories also and to be honest it was really bang up.
"So if I didn't ask khadi to call you... you won't come ko" mama spoke to Ikram.
"Aa mama bahaka ne Ba( its not like that)" Ikram answered.
"Ki na cikin daki kamar wata mayya" (you are inside the room like some sort of witch)"mama continued in a nagging way.
"Mama mana" Ikram let out a cry.
"K Hajiya, leave my mummy alone"Abba finally spoke out.
"Haba daddy,I thought am your mummy" Liham said with a pouted lip.
"OK!OK!You all are my mummy's my princesses and your mum my queen" Abba concluded inorder to avoid a clash of clans in the dinning room.
"Alright, now no talking while eating"mama added.
"God!! I love my family drama"
"We could make billions out of a reality show" I said to myself.
"mama,I forgot to tell you fa.You remember Adiva right?well, she is back in Nigeria and well, wants to hang out tomorrow".
"Wow!! You mean she is back. No wonder her mum called me. Its been ages you know. No problem but on one condition,Ina zaku tafi( where are you guys going?)" She asked.
"Well,I was thinking of an eatery to get ice cream and the park"
"Hmmm I guess it won't be a problem as long as you don't let any boy fool you while you are out...cuz some guys can be cunning".
I couldn't help but giggle...Thanks a lot mum.
Woah!! Its been ages I last wrote...
