ELARA
♾♾♾♾♾

I walk inside of space station, guards and civilians passing by me. The others who came down with the Ark were already working on building this place up better, adding a wall and watch towers. Reminds me of a prison.

When I spot Kane, I follow him to the room where they must be keeping Bellamy. I stand further down in the corridor but close enough so that I can hear the conversation from inside.

I listen as Kane talks to Bellamy about setting up a search team.

"The search team doesn't know the woods like we do," I whisper to myself, still listening.

"I need to be on that team, those are my people out there," I hear Bellamy plead with Kane.

"They're my people too," Kane responds.

I feel a sharp pain in my chest like I have just been stabbed. Anger boils in my blood. I go to take a step and confront Kane about his idiotic thoughts but stop when I watch several guards walk Murphy past me and into the room.

I glare at the back of his head as he walks in. "Asshole," I mutter.

After a few minutes, Kane finally exits. I take this as my chance and speak up, "You're people?" Kane looks over at me, stopping in his tracks. "You sent them down here to die. They aren't you're people, they're mine."

Kane opens his mouth to speak but I beat him to it.

"We aren't going to help you and you're search team get them back. But you will help us,"

He goes to speak again but this time is cut off but the sound of multiple gun shots. I bore a whole into the back of his head as I watch him run off to figure out what the problem is.

♾♾♾

I walk into the infirmary tent that had been set up.

Finn sits in a chair next to Raven who lies in a bed. She was paler than before and her forehead was covered in sweat. I pull up a chair next to Finn.

"Hey,"

"Hey,"

"How is she?" I ask him.

"We're still waiting on Abby," He watches Raven intently, holding her hand and rubbing small circles over her skin. Finns eyes are filled with exhaustion, worry and pain.

I lean over and put my head on his shoulder. "She'll be okay," I assure him.

He only manages a nod.

I pull back and nudge him, "Hey, we'll find Clarke too,"

He looks over at me, "You sure about that?"

I tilt my head down and bite my lip. After a long pause I answer truthfully, "I don't know,"

Finn looks back at Raven.

Her eyes open slowly. When she sees me, she sends me a weak smile.

"Hi," I say to her.

Dr. Griffin walks in just Then and asks Raven how she's feeling.

"Awesome," she replies, knowing damn well she isn't in fact 'awesome'.

There's a long silence that hangs over our heads.

"Dr. Griffin, What is it?" I ask.

"Elara, please— Abby," she politely says.

I nod and start over, "Abby, what is it?"

She looks at Raven. "The bullet is still shifting. I was hoping by now it would have stabilized, but it hasn't."

"So what does that mean?" Finn asks.

Abby was dreading this moment, I could see it on her face.

"It can stay in. But if it does, Raven, you will never walk again,"

"So take it out," Raven tells her.

"Raven, it's not that simple—"

She cuts Abby off with a quick question, "If you take it out will I be able to walk again?"

Abby sighs, "It's not about whether or not you'll walk again. This surgery could kill you. We don't have the right equipment and anesthesia,"

Raven's eyes begin to water. "I didn't need legs for Zero- G, down here I do."

"Raven, you heard Abby," Finn looks down at her. "You could die,"

Her eyes meet Abby's and determination crosses her face. "Take it out,"

♾♾♾

I stand at the water station with Monroe and Sterling. Bellamy was still locked up and Finn was with Raven getting ready for surgery.

"The search team left a little bit ago," Sterling informs us. "They had guns but that's it,"

I let out a bitter laugh. "Of course. I mean yeah, guns definitely gave us an advantage but when we ran out of bullets—"

"We were screwed," Monroe finishes.

"Exactly,"

"You think they'll find anything?" Sterling asks.

I shrug, "I doubt it. They don't know the grounders like we do. They don't understand how they work,"

Monroe looks out at the woods concerned. "We need to get out there to find everyone,"

I place my cup of water on the table. "Agreed,"

A loud, deafening scream comes from the medical tent. My heart breaks, knowing that what Raven is doing is something no one should ever have to go through.

"You think she'll be alright?"

I place a hand on Monroe's shoulder. "Its Raven, one of the toughest people we know. She'll be okay," I look at the tent, "she has to be."

♾♾♾

There's a commotion at the front of camp. I walk over, pushing my way through the crowd. When I get past everyone, I notice what everyone was worked up over.

Three bodies.

Kane and few guards carry in the bodies of the search team.

"What happened?" I ask walking up to Kane.

"Not now," he says passing me.

"It was the grounders, wasn't it?"

He glances back at me and keeps walking.

"You don't know what you're up against. Let Bellamy, the others and I go out. We'll find them, we'll bring our people back—"

"No!" Kane turns around and yells. I take a step back. "You kids aren't in control in here. None of you are trained,"

"You're right. But we've been down here longer. We've seen and done things you haven't. Kane, please,"

"You kids are staying here. End of discussion," With that, he walks away.

[A/N:

Oof Kane needs to chill and get a grip. Like hun, these kids know more than you do about the ground soooo back up.

What're your thoughts on Kane's decision?

Trying super hard to get some chapters up for you guys. I hope you're all enjoying book 2 so far!
