Jake and I ran to the village, Mysti loosing consciousness in Jake's arms. We turned the corner and headed towards the hospital. The blood dripping from Mysti's leg stained my nice white shirt. That, however, was the least of my concerns.
We slammed the hospital doors open and ran to the blond man at the counter. "Zombie bite. She needs treatment. Now," Jake said sternly.
"Oh no..." the man said, "Come with me."
We followed the man to one of the hospital rooms where Jake gently layed Mysti down on the hospital bed. The man called down the hall, "MACK! We have an emergency!"
Mack (apparently the doctor) walked in the room hurriedly. He gasped at the massive leg wound. He rushed to the bed to take a closer look. "Oh my Notch... Zombie bite. Definitely. This needs to be amputated before the bacteria gets into your blood stream."
Thank Notch Mysti was unconscious. She would've freaked if she heard that. "What happens if it does get in her blood?" I asked
"She'll... die. Or worse."
"Or WORSE?! TELL ME!!!" Jake yelled, furious.
"She'll..."
"TELL ME NOW!" Jake grabbed the doctor's shoulders
"SHE'LL TURN INTO A ZOMBIE! Now, let me get my work done, will you?!"Jake released his shoulders. "We don't want that to happen," Mack continued, "Please leave so I can work in peace."
I was sobbing loudly. Jake put his hand on my shoulder as we turned away and walked out. Then, we ran. Ran to the meadow. As we ran, I looked at Jake and saw the tears streaming down his face as well.
We ran to the ravine, where our best friend had nearly lost her life. I collapsed on the ground in tears. Jake grabbed a rock and threw it hard and violently into the ravine. "STUPID ZOMBIE!!!!" he screamed as he heaved another large rock into the ravine.
Then, like me, he collapsed in tears. We just laid there, sobbing and hugging, for hours. I guess we cried ourselves to sleep, because the last thing I remember is seeing is the sun setting, the image blurred by my tears.

I woke up in my house. I sat up and stretched. "Morning, Holly," Jake was sitting in my house.
"Jake?" I yawned, "What happened?"
"You fell asleep. I carried you home then just sorta crashed."
"Right. We were out last night. By that ravine where Mys- MYSTI!" My sudden excitement made Jake jump.
I pulled Jake out the door and we ran to the hospital. I opened the door to find the lobby completely deserted. Jake and I walked cautiously to the room Mysti was in. I gently pushed open the door. "Mysti?" I asked.
I let out a scream as I witnessed Mack being eaten by a one-legged zombie. Mysti was nowhere in sight. The zombie turned around and looked at Jake and me. I swear my heart dropped into my stomach.
It was Mysti.
