The sound of heavy rain crashing against the windshield filled Owen’s car. It drowned out the sound of the classical music on the radio and almost completely obscured his view of the road. The granite beneath his vehicle was slippery, making the drive even more dangerous.
Even though he tried hard to concentrate on driving, Owen’s mind kept unconsciously returning to the details of the mission he had just received from Dr. Roberts.
A bird had been badly injured on a mission and was currently in a coma at the hospital. Her team withdrew from the mission after they realized it was more dangerous than the Academy had thought.
This was where his family came in. Dr. Roberts believed with his family’s set of skills, they could face this mission. Initially the government hadn’t cared about the problem, but after the dead person was found last year, their perceptions changed.
The previous Academy team had been infiltrating for two years, and now they only had one year left to complete it before the government took matters into their own hands. The Academy wanted to be the ones to solve this; federal involvement was always messy.
The government had never cared how many victims accumulated while they covered up a problem - as long as it didn’t become public knowledge. That was one of the many reasons Academies existed in the first place.
Initially this mission was an undercover assignment to discover how corrupt Ashley Waters was, and to improve the school system. The longer they investigated however, the more problems arose, such as the prostitution and the drugs.
Blackbourne's team had refused this mission at first because they’d already accepted other, at the time, more important missions. This led Owen to wonder whether this assignment would have been completed by now if his team had just accepted to begin with.
But he couldn't think like that. They didn't know the full details of the mission due to the particulars being confidential. He couldn't make judgments without having more information.
Owen decided just to concentrate on the road, when he passed a car emitting smoke on the road’s shoulder and a person standing by the door.
He stopped his car and approached the vehicle on the side of road, noticing that the person had long hair. "Hello? Do you need help?"
But strangely as he approached the car the person disappeared, leaving two people who were unconscious in the front seat and the encroaching darkness in their wake. Owen frowned in worry when he noticed the two, taking out his phone to call 911. He looked around in search of the person he had seen until help arrived.
When the ambulance came, police approached him to ask for some details. He informed the police of what happened since he’d arrived, and about the person that had suddenly disappeared. The officer said that he would look at surveillance footage from surrounding areas and ask the victims to make statements when they woke up.
Medical staff approached the police to inform him that the man was dead but the woman was just unconscious. The ambulance then drove away, and Owen gave his phone number to the officer before continuing his journey to Nathan's house.

- Luke -
Everyone was busy with their own thing. Victor with his laptop checking on things, Gabriel browsing an online store searching for painting stuff, Kota on the phone talking to Mr.B, Sean patching up injuries Nathan had managed to sustain recently, Silas and North still asleep after their shift at the diner, and Mr.B making his way there.
And here Luke was, nothing to do. Suddenly though his eyes lit up as he decided to prank North and Silas. They had slept too long and it was time for them to wake up.
Luke headed towards the kitchen, trying to be not suspicious, glancing around and seeing everyone still busy. He then looked at his targets, thinking gleefully of Silas’ reaction, and North’s. Hopefully they wouldn’t be mad for too long.
Two ideas popped into his mind, and after thinking seriously about the potential risks and timeframes of both, he decided for now that he would pick the second option. He could do option one when he had more time.
It's payback for all of the candies North stole yesterday. Silas is just a bonus, we wouldn't want to make North lonely right. Thinking about it made Luke's adrenaline race. He grabbed the things he would need from the kitchen counter, before tiptoeing toward the sleeping Silas and North.
On the way there Gabriel looked up and silently asked, What the fuck are you doing?
Nothing, Luke just blinked innocently.
"Bul*****, you're gonna pull a prank, aren’t you?" Gabriel approached Luke.
Luke put one finger on his own mouth. "Help me record it."
Gabriel opened the camera app on his phone and pressed video while Luke sprayed whipped cream on Silas's hand, stopping when he felt the target move. Gabriel didn’t even know how Luke managed to spray the whipped cream silently.
Luke moved to North's side, his brother sleep soundly on the couch, one hand above his head and one hanging beside him to the floor.
He was still wearing what he always wore to the diner, a black t-shirt and dark jeans. Luke carefully maneuvered around him, choosing which hand was going to get pranked.
Everyone looked at him. Sean shook his head. Kota tried to warn Luke, but it was too late. Luke had already finished spraying the whipped cream on North’s hand.
Victor stopped what he was doing on the computer and stared at him curiously. Luke just sent him a wink and pulled some pepper from his pocket.
Luke opened the bottle and poured a good amount of pepper on his hand before giving it to Silas and North like they were some meat that needed seasoning, like a Salt Bae kind of thing.
Not long after, their hands moved unconsciously to their noses to sneeze, and all the whipped cream fell on their faces and necks. It was messy and it was sticky.
Feeling weird, they woke up, unable to immediately understand the mess on themselves. Silas looked confused at Luke before chuckling as the realization kicked in.
Meanwhile, North was angry. "LUCIAN!”
Luke ran to hide on Sean’s back, hoping the good doctor would help him, but oh no. Sean just smiled and continued to patch up Nathans injures, the red head himself laughing hysterically.
Seeing that Sean and Nathan wouldn’t help him Luke calculated his next escape, finding the target and his last hope, Kota. He hoped that Kota would have his back.
“Hey, I tried to warn you. You're on your own on this." Kota said seeing Luke approach him, destroying all Luke’s hopes.
Before Luke could arrive at Kota side North tackled him to the floor, causing the candies in Luke’s pockets to scatter all around them.
North was confused by this. "How did you get candy again? I thought I confiscated all of your stashes." North stood up to collect all the candied sugar on the floor, face covered in whipped cream, forgetting his anger.
“My precious candy!” cried Luke, but he couldn’t deny that the prank had been worth it. As if he knew what Luke was thinking, North looked at his stepbrother.
"Don't think I'll forget this."
North ruthlessly destroyed the final hopes that Luke had.

So, this is my first time writing fanfiction and decided to publish it.
i wrote two fanfic before this, still at first chapter, and abandoned it.
The reason is I'm bad at grammar, I'm not native speaker and afraid at criticism. but after a while, it got me thinking, maybe i should try to publish fanfiction at wattpad to improve my grammar and writing.
so have mercy on me, I'm welcome your constructive criticism, but please please please do it politely. and maybe explain why that's wrong or why it should be that words, so it's give me new perspective and improve my english.
