Torak and Renn held hands at the border of the Spirit Mountain and the Beyond. Torak held onto Renn's hand so tight, his knuckles turned white. Renn seemed calm, but Torak could see that she was just as afraid as he was. He took a deep breath in and took a large step into the Unknown forest, the first step seemed like a mile, the forest floor was Dark and moist under his boot and the sun could barely kiss his skin. A strange mouse scurried across the moist soil, but he didn't notice, he mumbled to himself, "Hunting is going to be hard." Torak jumped as Renn touched his shoulder, she whispered in his ear, trying to avoid startling the trees, "Do you think we will be able to find prey in this new forest?" He didn't answer and took long, but slow steps deeper into the forest.
Renn could tell Torak was worried and scared, so was she but she didn't show it. The deeper they got, Renn caressed her clan skin, the Raven, she looked around for wolf, but could barley see, due to the tall thick trees. Suddenly, Torak stopped and Renn about tripped over him, he grunted but didn't say a word to her. Renn frowned and tapped Torak softly, giving him a look but he didn't return a glare, just stared into the dark forest, listening. She crossed her arms and waited, he started moving, but crouched down, Renn did the same, feeling annoyed with his sudden stop.
Wolf glided through the thick trees, stopping every now and again to sniff the air for the new prey. The smell of prey filled his muzzle and he yips with joy, running between the tress to find Tall Tailless. Wolf leaps on Tall tailless and yips, "Prey!" Tall tailless yips back and follows wolf through the dense forest. Pack sister got her sharp that flies ready to hit the prey. Tall tailless sank below the bushes with Wolf and gave a small grunt, hinting him to chase the prey closer.
Torak watched wolf stalk towards the prey, pretending to hunt alone. The weird looking deer looks directly at wolf and starts running towards Renn at full speed. Renn quickly drawled her bow and shot the deer, hopping out of the way. Torak stayed with Renn while Wolf followed the prey to where it ended up dying and came to get them. Torak took out his fathers knife and started gutting the animal, he admired the tough blue fur and the one long horn on its head. It's mane was a shining white and the hoofs glittered in the little sun they got.
Renn stared at the weird deer like creature as Torak gave their share to whatever clan creatures lived here. The thing kinda looked like a horse of the Deep Forest, but had a horn. She was puzzled by the creature, but had a bad feeling about killing it. Renn didn't say a word to Torak as he hung the pelt up to dry and cut thin strips of the delicious smelling meat. Later, as they had their dinner share after a long day of gutting and setting up a small shelter, Renn finally comprehended what the animal was and shouted," Torak! We found a Unicorn! Those animals are rare in our part of the forest, but if we saw one today..." Renn's face went pale. "We have been cursed for killing it."
Torak looked at Renn like she was crazy, then to wolf. He snorted. "What even is this Unicorn? I've never heard of it." Renn's face was blank as she told him of the mystical creature. Torak desperately tried to listen, but he couldn't, for Wolf went out on his nightly hunt and the fire was burning low.
Wolf ran through the dark forest. His paws sank in the moist dirt and his fur was tugged and snagged by low branches, but he loved it. He felt as if he belonged here, something pulled him closer, closer... Wolf halts and sniffs the air. Demon. His hackles raise and he crouches down, targeting the demon. Wolf pounces, biting the demons neck and he gives it a good shake. It falls limp and he sees the walking spirit rise out, but it still smelled like demon. Wolf takes it back to Tall tailless, but wolf sensed he wasn't OK, so he left the body outside and nuzzled Tall tailless meaning, "Are you OK pack brother?" Tall tailless didn't respond and headed off to sleep.
In Torak's sleep, the dream was vivid. Renn got caught in a strong river and he couldn't save her, wolf tried, but failed, he fell deep in the river. Torak tried to scream, but no sound came out, from behind, hands grabbed him and sunk him deep into the forest. He woke up with a shock and Renn turned to him and smiled, Torak smiled back but inside, he was screaming.
Renn looked at Torak with a wide smile, he smiled back but she could feel his energy, he wasn't ok, "Torak, are you ok?" Renn spoke with care but Torak just shrugged and stepped outside. Renn wanted to go after Torak, but she felt he needed to be alone, so she started cooking the unicorn meat and breaking up pig-nuts. Wolf come over and put his head on her lap, so she pet his fur.
Once Torak got a bit aways from the shelter, he turned back, feelig bad for shrugging Renn off. He should tell her about his dream and ask her if it meant anything, or if it is just a wild dream. Torak touched the no longer "Outcast" tattoo on his forehead and sighed heavily. "After I killed the last soul eater, I feel like I'm going mad.." Torak spoke to himself and entered the shelter, going over to Renn and giving her a hug and whispered in her ear, "I'm sorry for running off like that.." Renns face showed no expression, but Torak could feel her relief.
Renn felt relived that Torak came back safely, though, Renn felt closer to Wolf. Wolf felt more like a brother now, and Torak felt like a mate. She didn't know how to tell Torak though, she doesn't think he feels the same way, for he never even notices her like he used to. She sighed and walked out, going hunting for deer, actual deer.
