Liliana woke up as the alarmed blared, she groaned and rubbed her eyes. She glanced over at the clock, it read 6:30 am. Letty was already up, she could hear the shower running. Liliana walked into the bathroom and started brushing her teeth.

"Lil is that you?" asked Letty.

"Mmmhmm," replied Liliana her mouth full of tooth paste.

"Can't believe you got drunk on a school night, you feeling okay?" Letty asked.

Liliana rinsed out her mouth and splashed water on her face. "Better than I deserve, thanks for taking care of me last night" she said.

"You would do the same for me" Letty claimed. She was right, Letty was pretty much the only family Liliana had, she would die before letting anything happen to her little sister.

Liliana went and got dressed, black jeans black and white top and her favorite leather jacket, a typical Lili look. Lili hoped that her dad was still asleep, or he hadn't come home last night, she did not want to deal with him this morning. Today has to be a good day, she thought to herself as she headed downstairs.

To her surprise Castillo was behind the counter, cooking breakfast. She was surprised, he is usually never up this early and she can't remember the last time he made eggs.

"Buenos dias hija (Good morning daughter)" he said.

"Hi papa..." she replied hesitantly.

"I know you are upset with me, so I wanted to make it up to you, here, have some eggs" he said, reaching out and placing scrambled eggs on a plate in front of her.

"By making eggs?" she asked.

"Well it's a start hija" he claimed giving her a small smile.

Lili wondered what was actually going through his mind, there had to be catch. Thankfully, before he could speak again Letty walked in. She looked beautiful, as always. She was wearing ripped jeans, a crop top and a cardigan. She just knew fashion and always looked so effortlessly beautiful. Liliana and Letty were the exact opposite. Letty was loud and flamboyant, and it always reflected in her attire. Liliana was quieter and more kept to herself, her wardrobe full of dark colours and leather.

"Good morning beautiful people" Letty exclaimed having a seat as Castillo placed eggs on her plate. How she was so cheery and happy in the morning was a mystery to Lili. They all ate in silence and Lili was glad Castillo hadn't brought up anything of the day before.

"Why don't I give you two a ride to school this morning?" he said, finally breaking the silence.

"Negative, Leo is picking me up, he should be here anytime" Lili said. It was their tradition since sophomore year when Leo had gotten his motorcycle. He would pick her up and they would ride to school together. Lili loved their morning rides, it was peaceful, and she preferred it over getting dropped off by her father.

"I am getting a ride today too, Gina is picking me up" said Letty. Gina was Letty's best friend, like Leo and Lili, they too were inseparable.

"Guess you girls are getting too old for your papa" mentioned Castillo, a sombre look upon his face. He sighed and gave them each a quick peck on their foreheads, retreating to his room. Lili heard Leo's motorcycle approaching and quickly placed her plate in the sink, grabbed her bag and headed out.

"See you at school" she called to Letty walking out the door. She smiled as she Leo pull up to their driveway.

"Good morning babycakes" he said smiling as he came to a stop. Lili rolled her eyes smiling and grabbed the spare helmet from him.

"Hangover?" she asked him, remembering their night. She still had a headache and was feeling fatigued.

"Nothing a cup of coffee couldn't fix" he replied, and she chuckled hopping onto his bike.

They pulled up to their school, Westlake High just as the bell rang. Lili hopped off the bike and took off her helmet.

"I'll see you in third period" she said to Leo as she jogged away to her period one English class.

English was Lili's favorite class, she loved books and writing. It let her get lost into other worlds and times and felt like an escape.

"Good morning Liliana" said Mr. Morrison, her English and favorite teacher at Westlake.

"Morning Mr. Morrison, you can call me Lili" she said smiling and rolling her eyes. He insisted to call her by her full first name as opposed to her nickname. She went to her seat and took out her notebook and the book they were reading. They were reading Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. They weren't supposed to be finished it till next week but Liliana had already finished. She would often go by the docks and sit for hours, just reading.

"Now before we can delve into our novel, I would like to introduce you to our new student" Mr. Morrison claimed, and Lili looked up. In walked Dawson, he was wearing a burgundy hoodie and light wash jeans. The hoodie accentuated his biceps and the colour brought out the blue in his eyes.

"Please introduce yourself" Mr. Morrison urged. Dawson looked and felt uncomfortable.

We aren't little kids he thought to himself.

"Hi, I am Dawson Martin, I just moved here last a few days ago" he said, and Mr. Morrison smiled.

"Thank you Dawson, I hope you can get caught up quickly as to not miss anything. Please, have a seat" he said, handing him the syllabus.

Lili kept her eyes on him as he walked towards the back of the class, near her seat. There was an empty desk behind her. Their eyes met and Lili felt her cheeks get warm, she quickly looked away.

"Let's begin" Mr. Morrison claimed and began to teach. Dawson looked at Liliana, she looked so effortlessly pretty and had this badass edge to her that he felt himself drawn to. Lili could feel Dawson's stare and she turned around to glance at him. He was looking right at her, he smiled and she felt a strange sensation, almost as if his stare was making her hot. She looked back towards Mr. Morrison.

"Dawson?" called out the teacher. "Do you have the book we're studying?" Dawson was pulled back towards reality. He lightly shook his head as if he were in a trance.

"No sir" he replied.

"Very well, you can join another student for today and I will have a copy for you tomorrow. Liliana will you kindly allow Mr. Martin to join you for day?" he said, and Lili narrowed her eyes at him.

"Sure" she replied giving him a tight smile.

"That settles it then, Dawson you can join Liliana" Mr. Morrison said and resumed teaching.

Dawson got up and brought his chair to Lili, she scooted over. She moved her thick hair to one side, that exposed a long slender neck. Dawson saw a tattoo peeking from her back and wondered what it was.

"You didn't frown when you saw me today" he said making conversation.

"You weren't in my spot today" she replied smirking slightly. Dawson chuckled. The sound was adorable, and it made Lili smile. They turned their attention back towards Mr. Morrison who was reviewing the chapter and the main themes. Dawson glanced at Lili and noticed how focused she was on the lecture. She was beautiful and Dawson couldn't help but be drawn to her. She had long thick eyelashes and little splashes of freckles on her nose. Her nose had a ring in, and Dawson wondered when she got it or if she had other piercings. Her neck was long and slender, and she was wearing a necklace that held a wedding band in it. His eyes moved towards her breasts, they were full and looked delectable. Dawson felt his pants get tight and he quickly looked away shaking his head at the thoughts that clouded his mind.

Calm down he thought to himself.

"Now turn towards a neighbour and discuss the chapter and identify the main points and themes of this chapter" Mr. Morrison said. Liliana turned and looked towards Dawson. He couldn't get over how beautiful her eyes were, he wanted to get lost in them.

Get a grip Dawson he thought.

"I am guessing you haven't read this chapter?" Lili asked him

"I've read the book before, it's one of my favorites" he replied smirking. Lili was impressed, most of the men she grew up around weren't readers.

"What's your most favorite?" she asked curiously.

"Wuthering Heights" he replied, and she was shocked.

"A passionate love story?" she replied taken aback.

"Yeah, why is that so surprising?" he asked back sheepishly a smile growing on his face.

"N-no reason" she stuttered. He smiled, he knew he had an effect on her.

"What's your next class?" he asked, curious to know if he would see her again. He also needed help figuring out where it was as he had no clue.

"Biology. What's yours?" she answered.

"Chemistry, although I don't really know where it is" he said chuckling lightly, hoping she would offer her help so he could spend more time with her.

"Let me see your schedule, I'll help you figure it out" she replied, and he handed her the paper. "You have chemistry in Lab 202, right across from my bio class, I can show you where it is" she said. Dawson smiled and nodded.

"That would be great" he said. Class was almost over, and Lili bent to put her books back in her bag. Their knees briefly touched, and Lili felt a slight tingle run up her spine.

What has gotten into you? she thought to herself.
