It wasn't supposed to go so drastically wrong, but there was little you could do now. Clint was staring at the gruesome mess you had all made with an open mouth and Sam was shocked into total silence.
"I-I don't think this went according to plan." Wanda stammered.
"Shit. Shit, this is bad. This is really, really bad. Just look at him! He's barely holding on!" Sam dragged his hands over his face with a groan.
"Look, maybe we can dump him in the back, they'll never know." Clint suggested.
"Oh, yes they will. We are so screwed." You muttered and moved closer to the scene that depicted violence in the most brutal way.
You had no idea where it had all gone wrong. Sam and Clint had been working him over with minimal damage. Then, when it was you and Wanda's turn, everything seemed to spiral out of control and Wanda had to quickly put an end to it before it could get any worse.
"Come on. We have to get rid of him, they'll be here any minute."
"Who'll be here any minute?"
All four of you froze as Natasha, Steve and Tony rounded the corner. They stopped the moment they saw the huge, gory mess and Natasha's face twisted in anger. Tony and Steve slowly backed away while you and the others fidgeted nervously.
"H-hey, Nat!" Clint stuttered.
She said nothing and the tension began to grow as her eyes darted back and forth with an evil glint.
"We didn't mean to hurt him, honest!" Sam cried as Natasha stepped forward.
"Him? What about everything else?" She shouted, gesturing wildly. Her face was almost the same shade as her hair and you flinched at the sight.
"We didn't mean to! Please don't hurt us!" Clint backed up against the fridge and you followed, gripping his wrist tightly.
"I told you...I told you to leave him alone! Now look! His guts are splattered on the floor! You've made a disgusting mess all over my kitchen and guess who's going to clean it?"
A moment of silence went around the room and you made eye contact with Steve, who was gesturing with his head towards the elevator.
You were a beat too late.
"JARVIS, open the elevator doors!" Sam shrieked.
Fear choking you, you bolted for your life, Wanda, Sam and Clint right behind you.
"Close the doors! Close the doors!" You screamed as they practically trampled you to get in. The doors slid shut and a dull thunk sounded through the little room.
"...She threw a blade, didn't she?"
"I hope...I really hope she gets over this."
"Big, fat chance. We killed Riley." You mumbled as the elevator began it's stomach-churning drop.
"It's a pumpkin! A carved pumpkin!" Sam protested.
"Yeah, and she carved it, you idiot!"
Suddenly, the elevator lurched to a stop and you froze as the lights flickered eerily.
"None of you are coming out until someone owns up to killing my Riley." Natasha snarled over the intercom.
"We'll never give in!" Clint yelled dramatically.
"It was Clint!"
"Sam, you little shit!"
"I told you guys not to touch her pumpkin."
"JARVIS, initiate emergency override and get us to the bottom!" Wanda ordered.
"Yes, Ms. Maximoff."
The elevator glowed a bright red before starting back up.
"You can run, but you can't hide! And I swear, when I find you-" Natasha's threat was cut off mid-sentence as Clint quickly stuck an arrow in the sound box, shattering it.
"So...what hotel are we staying at tonight, guys?"
