And those were the sunod-sunod pictures of me that Juan posted on Instagram and Twitter noong mga nakaraang araw na. He posted a picture of us, posing on the red carpet tapos yung dalawa naman ay solo pictures ko like yung isa is formal picture tapos the other one ay nung nasa venue na kami as Juan took a picture of me while I pose for a silly face. And sa Twitter naman, another picture of me pero stolen 'yon. Yung time na minimake-upan pa'ko.
Napangiti na lamang ako sa mga captions niya and napaisip ako, Juan is just so sweet. Hindi ko na atang makakaya yung ka-sweetan niya sa akin. He really makes me feel so special and appreciated. Who would have thought na ganito pala si Juan pagmay special someone na siya.
"Babe, do you know how to play Basketball?" tanong sa'kin ni Juan after he shoots the ball and made it into the basket.
I'm at the GDL's right now and nandito kami ngayon sa basketball village nila at 4:30 in the afternoon. We're just killing the time actually since mayamaya aalis din kami to attend one of UST's biggest event— UST Paskuhan. Yup, we're going there kasi since hindi kami nakadalo sa UP Lantern Parade, UST Paskuhan na lang. Hehe.
"I know how it is done pero I don't know the dribbling thing.." sagot ko naman sa kanya "but I can shoot naman pag nasa malapit na'ko ng ring."
"Great. Let's play? One on one." Juan tells me at pinagtaasan ko siya ng kilay. "Seriously? Ang galing mo kaya.."
"I'll not be go hard on you. Pwede mong i-violate lahat ng rules." He shrugs na ngayon nagd-dribble na ng bola.
I grin at him saka tumayo sa semento na galing inupuan ko and makes my way towards him. "Talaga? Sige ba!"
I was wearing tattered high waist pants, a halter top and sneakers, so I guess I could play with this outfit naman.
Sinimulan na namin ni Juan ang laro so since I'm not good on this one, sa'kin muna yung bola. Naghold na kami ng ball and I started dribbling it kahit alam kong nagdo-double dribble na'ko or traveling pero I don't care. Sabi niya I can violate the rules e.
Juan is behind me as my back's facing towards him while I dribble the ball with my one hand habang ang isa ko namang kamay ay ini-stop siya from stealing the ball away from me.
"Wait, you tie your hair muna Eva. I can't see your face." Said Juan at tumigil naman ako sa pagd-dribble at napameywang holding the ball to my side.
"Bakit mo naman titignan mukha ko? Your eyes should be on the ball.." I told him.
"Why not? Your face is prettier than the ball." He said back slightly chuckling at lumapit siya sa akin. I rolled my eyes at him and he took the tali from my wrist then stands behind me. Siya na nagtali sa buhok ko at napatawa ako not knowing if tama ba yung pagkakatali niya.
"Marunong ka ba magtali?" I asked and I can feel his fingers brushing through my hair bago niya sinikop ang buhok ko on his hands at itinali into a ponytail.
"Of course." he answered and before I knew, natali na niya yung buhok ko. Hinawakan ko naman ang top ng ulo ko, as well as the sides of my head if okay ba talaga. And surprisingly, wala rin namang strands ang naiwan and my hair was really neatly tied.
Suddenly, Juan just steals the ball from me and easily lays up the ball into the ring.
"Hey! We're not yet starting. Hindi yun counted!" I exclaimed at him at napa bumusangot ako.
"I was just warming up.." He laughs at naghold na siya ng bola sa'kin.
We started game at binilisan ko na ang galaw ko making my way to the basket at shinoot sa ring. Napahiyaw naman ako nang ma-shoot 'yon.
"Yay! 1 point!" I cheered at narinig kong tumawa si Juan.
"The first one who scores 11 points, wins. Yung malo-lose naman must do a dare. Game?" Sabi ni Juan and my smile turned upside-down because I knew I'm gonna lose on this. I'm just a beginner, far from a beginner even, compared to him na who's really good at this.
"Matatalo naman ako dito for sure e.." sabi ko sa kanya. "Unless if plus 3 points na yung score ko." I trail off.
"Sure, lets make that 5 points pa.." sabi niya naman while smirking and I can't help but roll my eyes. "Yabang ha. But if you say so, sige, I have five points na, wala ng bawian"
We continued balling and Juan has now the possession of the ball. He was just dribbling habang pinapalusot niya yung bola
sa magkabilang binti niya and nainggit tuloy ako watching him do that kasi gusto ko rin matuto yung ganoon.
I tried to tip the ball from him pero ayaw niyang magpa-steal. He was just staring at me with a smile on his face while the ball moves up and down from the palm of his hands and shinoot na niya iyon sa ring, which it went in.
I got the rebound naman and lumabas na'ko so I could shoot na. The score is 8-7, leading by yours truly. And yes, tatlo pa lamang naishoot ko because Juan always steals the ball from me. Pero atleast lamang ako sa kanya.
"Wait, 'wag mo kong bantayan, I'm going to shoot this one.." I told him at tumawa naman siya. I saw him naman na he just let me kaya I took the opportunity to shoot the ball from the 3-point arc.
Before I could release it from my hands, nagsalita si Juan. "Wait, let me get my phone, I'll take a video of you.." pagmamadali niyang pumunta sa may semento where his phone is.
"Ba't mo naman ivi-video? Hindi naman 'to mashoshoot.." sabi ko sa kanya at bumalik na siya to film me.
"Well, we might not know.."
I waited for his cue and nang sinabi niya ok na raw, I release the ball na from my hands and shoots it in the ring.
"OhmyGod! Nashoot siya!" I squealed at napatalon ako sa saya at abot tenga ang ngiti ko ngayon nang pumasok ang bola sa ring. What the heck, hindi ko naman inakala na mashoshoot 'yon. Never done a 3 and this is a first.
"I got it in! I win!" sabi ko kay Juan and stucked my tongue at him na nagvi-video pa rin. "you loose. Now you have to do a dare."
He then set down his phone. "So what do I get in return?" tanong niya naman as his left brow formed an arc at me. Kumunot naman ang noo ko.
"What? Ako kaya 'yung nanalo." Sabi ko sa kanya.
"Well, it's because you asked me na hindi kita bantayan." he replied in-a-matter-of-factly at umirap ako.
"E, it's your fault na. Kasi it was also your choice.. so you're gonna have to do a dare now." Salita ko sa kanya and he just shakes his head before he accepted defeat.
"So, what's my dare?" he asked.
"I have to think about it pa. I'll tell you pagmay naisip na'ko.." I smiled devilishly at him kasi I want him to do something that he doesn't want to do. Hmmm. Ano kaya ide-dare ko sa kanya?
When we noticed the sun has already set down at nagsimula ng gumabi, we decided to get going. Pumunta muna kami sa bahay nila Juan since he said na magpapalit lang daw siya ng damit.
"Eva, ngayon na ba kayo aalis?" Tita Anna asks me as she came down from upstairs while I wait for Juan in the living room.
"Yes po Tita.." I smiled sweetly at her as I responded. "Kayo po Tita, gusto niyo bang sumama? It's really nice there po. Sama niyo po si Tito!" sabi ko naman kasi baka naman gusto ni Tita na umattend. She can bring Tito Bert para parang date na rin nila. (Awww)
Tita Ana shakes her head and tumawa siya. "You know Eva, we're too old for that. That's for millennials..."
"Tita, no one's too old for UST Paskuhan kaya po. It's open for everyone tsaka you will enjoy po talaga doon. Madaming po'ng pupunta since there will be a concert and may magaganap din po na fireworks after."
"It's fine Eva. Kayo nalang doon. Seize and enjoy each moment you have na magkasama kayo." Ngiti ni Tita sa'kin and saw her walked near me and umupo siya sa tabi ko. "And besides, alam mo na rin na medyo mahina-hina na yung tuhod namin ng Tito mo."
Napatawa naman ako and tumango na lamang. "Sige po.."
"You know Hija... I'm really thankful that Juan found somebody like you.." Biglang salita ni Tita at nagulat naman ako doon. "..ever since talaga nung nakita ka raw niya, he's head over heels na raw sa'yo. His face always brightens up pagkinukwento ka sa'kin ni Juan. And na'ko wala siyang ibang bukam-bibig kundi ikaw.."
"....akala nga namin matagal pa magkakagirlfriend si Juan kasi alam mo naman na he's really dedicated sa pagbabasketball niya and he even told us, na hindi muna siya magg-girlfriend kasi focus daw muna siya sa career niya and now, look at him, you changed his principle. You make my son the happiest man."
Ginapangan naman ako ng hiya dahil sa sinabi ni Tita sa'kin. My heart got touched when Tita told me that I changed Juan's principle and that I make him the happiest. Hay nako.
"You're welcome po Tita. And sa totoo naman po talaga Tita, ako yung mas swerte sa'min po. Kasi nung una, pinapanood ko lang po talaga siya sa malayo, patagong humahanga sa kanya at, hindi ko po talaga inakala na isang araw magiging malapit na lang po kami... Ngayon po Tita, Juan makes me happy too, more than I could ever imagine. Sobrang thankful ko rin po sa kanya."
Tita Ana's eyes grew bigger pagkatapos kong sinabi 'yon at yinakap ako.
"Aww... thank you so much Eva. You must starting to love my son, do you?" tanong ni Tita pagkatapos niya akong yakapin.
"Yes Tita. Sobrang mahal po..." I answered honestly as I softly smiled. Sobrang mahal na mahal na mahal na mahal ko talaga ang anak niyo po Tita.
"I love you too." Someone spoke up and when we turned our head, nakita namin si Juan, tapos ng nakabihis and he's watching us na may ngiti rin sa kanyang labi.
My eyes also went big at bumilis din ang tibok ng puso ko when I saw and heard Juan responded I love you din. Ohmygosh. He heard me? Kanina pa ba siya? Narinig ba niya lahat?
"Ma, we'll go na..." Paglapit ni Juan kay Tita na malaking malaki ang ngiti. He gave his Mom a kiss on the cheek.
"Okay sige. Enjoy there and ingat kayo." Sabi naman ni Tita kaya tumayo na'ko sa sofa nila para makapagpaalam na rin. "bantayan mo si Eva doon"
"Of course Ma."
"Alis na po kami Tita.." I said and was able to manage a smile kahit kinakakabahan na'ko dito. My brain can't still process that Juan just responded I love you too..
"Sige Eva, mag-ingat kayo ah. Tell Juan to drive safely kasi alam kong kaskasero yang bata na 'yan." Tita Ana told me as she gave Juan a quick glare habang tumawa lamang si Juan.
Lumabas na kami sa bahay nila and pumasok na sa sasakyan with Juan who always don't forget to open the door for me. Pumunta na naman si Juan sa kabila pagkatapos kong makapasok and mas sobra na talaga yung kaba ko ngayon.
Juan got in and bago niya pinaandar ang sasakyan, napansin ko ang pagharap niya and alam ko na kagad kung saan 'to patutunguhan.
"Babe.." he called kaya I turned my head to him while I smiled innocently. Pretend na wala akong sinabi, na wala siyang narinig.
"Yes?"
"Did you say to Mom na you love me really?" tanong niya at unti-unti akong nakaramdam ng init sa batok ko patungo sa mukha ko. Sasabihin ko ba sa kanya? Argh nakakahiya pero I'll say it na lang, total narinig na niya. There's no denying to that.
"Yes... I love you." sabi ko sa kanya habang hindi ko na talaga maramdam ang lakas at bilis ng tibok ng puso ko ngayon.
"..so much."
Ngumisi ng bigla si Juan sa'kin before he pulled me into my arms.
"I love you too.....so much." sabi niya while hugging me tightly.
I can feel my stomach turned in at lumundag ang puso ko nang dahil sa saya when Juan also told me that he loves me. Fuck, totoo? Mahal niya 'ko? Fuck. Nawawala na ata ako sa sarili ko. Just...fuck.
Humiwalay si Juan sa yakap at ngayon mariin ng nakatingin sa'kin. His light brown eyes speaks so much na hindi ko kayang mabasa kung ano man ang nasa isip niya ngayon. I only see a burning desire eyes seeping through mine.
"I love you so much Eva." Pag-uulit niya na parang hindi pa sapat ang isang beses.
His hands fall onto my sides at nakita ko ang pagbasak ng kanyang mata sa labi ko before going up to my eyes again. Fuck. He's going to kiss me. Iyon ang tangi ko na lamang nabasa sa kanyang mga mata. I've seen that in movies, I know what will happen next.
Arghhh! Nababaliw na ata yung utak at puso ko. I can't take those eyes and lips anymore so I snaked my one arm on his neck and pushed myself, pressing my lips against his.
I gave him a long kiss that felt like eternity. Ang mainit naman niyang labi ay naging dahilan sa pagbilis ng aking paghinga.
I cut off the kiss but then Juan's one hand move up to hold my right cheek as he kiss me again; passionately.
Malugod ko namang sinagot ang mga halik niya hanggang sa pareho kaming naubusan ng hininga at huminto. Our foreheads and nose touching each other.
I saw Juan smiled and hindi ko na rin mapigilang ngumiti. Tangina, mahal na mahal ko talaga ang taong 'to.
