I flew back on Draco. Dragona was beside us. Snow was in my arms. She still was asleep. I was going to talk to Alex about our relationship. Nikki will make fun of us. We flew down and I felt the pull of the shield. Since Draco was not going as fast, I could not feel as much pull. We landed softly on the ground. Alex greeted us outside.
“What are you carrying?” I showed him the dragonling. He walked “It is cute. What is his or hers name?”
“Her name is Snow. Also we need to talk.” Hurt crossed his face. My eyes grew wide when I knew why. “No it is not that. I mean we need to talk about school. Away from the dragons.” He could tell I was lying. This was going to end badly.
We went to the stables. “Before you say anything, this is not the end of us.” His expression softened.
“So…”
“I think we should tell people.”
“Nikki would make fun of us.” I giggled at that.
“I know, but this secret could be shown if we are not careful.”
“We are careful. Aleena look at us. No one knows yet. I think would be best if we keep the secret safe.”
“Alex, Draco knows.”
“You told him? How could you? Draco will tell everyone!”
“Alex, please don’t yell at me. I never told him. I-”
“I don’t believe you! How can I love a liar?” Tears threatened to spill.
“I never lied. How could you not believe me? I love you. I would tell you anything. You don’t even know the whole story.”
“Tell me. I am sorry for yelling. I had a bad day. My mom was mad because I did not have my room cleaned. She took my phone. The trainers are a little grumpy. Then I thought you were breaking up with me.” Tears threatened to spill out of his eyes too. I told him what Draco told me. Then we hugged. It felt weird with the squirming dragonling in my arms.
I hid Snow with my jacket I had on. Alex walked beside me. We went in the training hall. In the living room, people were all talking. No trainers were there. My mom was talking with Alex's and Nikki’s moms. Nikki was playing with Mia. Jasmine was talking with Dylan. Mary was rocking Keslie to sleep. The room was full of noise. I was thinking of way to get all of their attention. Snow did that for me. She cried out for what Dragona says is food. Everyone looked at me. I smiled. “Aleena, are you o.k.?” my mom asked.
“Yes. I think Snow just needs food.” I got confused looks. Snow hit the jacket. I unfolded the jacket to reveal the small, white dragon. A few gasps were heard. Snow wiggled free from my hold. She hopped to the ground and made the sound again. No one moved. “Everyone, meat Snow. She is Draco’s baby.”
“Does she have a mommy too?” Mia asked.
“Yes. Her mommy’s name is Dragona. Dragona helped Draco and me with breaking out of jail.” I got even more looks. “When Draco and I got to the blue dragons they put us in jail. It lasted until they found out I was the Animal Scout. She warmed up the cell we were in. I nearly died if it was not for her. Come outside if you want to see them.” Alex looked at me. He knew I was stalling. We all went outside. Dragona was waiting with Draco. Snow attacked some grass. I smiled at her. My mom talked to Dragona and Draco. Alex led me by the stables.
“Why are you stalling?”
“I don’t know if I can do it. What will our moms say? Will they approve? What about my dad when he comes after work?” He put his hand on my face. His hand was warm on my cheek.
“I think they will approve.” We walked to the group. I walked to Draco.
“Can you get everyone’s attention?” I whispered. He let out a loud growl. I only heard him do it during battle. It scared me. Everyone looked at him. “I have one other thing to say.” Alex walked beside me. “Alex and I are dating now.” Silence followed from my words. Fear gripped me. Was this a mistake? I felt Alex’s hand rubbing mine. He knew I was scared. I leaned in to him. He put his arm around me.
Nikki broke the silence. “Well I knew the love birds would tweet. Took them long enough to spread their wings.” People giggled at that. I didn’t. I would have if I was not so scared.
“Shut up Nikki.” Thank you Alex for that. Talking started again and it was like I never even talked. Everyone knew. No one said any thing because they did not know what to say. I broke out of the grip Alex had on me. I had to leave. Alex was beside me trying to grab my hand. I grabbed his hand and went to Draco. We got up together. He held on behind me. Draco took off. Dragona stayed but looked at Draco. When she saw me she turned back around. I hoped she would not be mad at Draco.
