I dragged my feet as I walked towards my room. This weekend went by too quickly and I did not want to be back here yet. I'm actually glad Masai and I decided to put aside the whole situation and just focus on us.
I pulled my keys out of my pocket when I got to the door and stuck it in the keyhole. I tried unlocking it only to realize it was already unlocked. So I just took it back out and twisted the door open.
As soon as I opened the door my ears were filled with the sounds of gunshots. There was a boy sitting in front of my TV playing a video game. I knew it wasn't Maj because this boy had waves.
I guess hearing the door open he paused the game and turned to look at me. This must be Majesty's friend that's spending the week here, yet Majesty was nowhere in sight.
"Hey" I said while setting my dufflebag down
He put the controller down then stood up. wow, he was shirtless, and tall, and shirtless.
"what's good? I'm Hyland" He said while holding out his hand
"Micaiah" I responded while taking his hand to shake
"nice to meet...Micaiah" He said softly making my name sound sexy leaving his lips
I took my hand back and just watched as he licked his lips and then smiled.
"so where's Majesty?" I asked while turning to walk to my closet
The devil's hard at work but I'm definitely not falling for it, not when I got me a whole Masai.
"He went to the mall to get us some food" He answered
I kicked off my shoes and placed them at the bottom of my closet where my other shoes were. Then I started to change out of my clothes into something more comfortable.
"so why here of all places for spring break?"
"well I'm transferring here in the fall so I wanted to get the experience and feel of things"
"oh"
"yeah. so how you like it here?" He asked
"it's alright. I definitely liked it much better last semester, but then again I have a lot going on this semester"
"oh yeah, he told me you was going through some things. he ain't tell me what but just told me to be easy with the questions"
"yeah there's just a lot going on. when did Maj leave?" I asked feeling a little hungry
"uhh about twenty minutes ago"
Oh great he should still be on his way or there already. I picked up my phone and texted him to get me something as well then sent him $20. Then I texted Masai letting him know I was in my room even though he dropped me off, mainly just to start conversation.
"so what's your major?" I heard
"business admin, you?" I asked while still looking down at my phone
"computer and information systems and minor in graphic design"
"oh so you smart?"
"I don't like to brag...so I'll just let my three point eight gpa speak for me"
3.8? That's the same gpa Sai has, expect he's probably a sophomore being that Majesty is so that holds more weight.
"you play 2k?" He asked changing the subject
"ehh, occasionally" I shrugged
I sometimes play it with Masai when he's playing. If he's gonna ignore me for a game I might as well play it with him.
"come, I'll take it easy on you"
"who said I needed you to take it easy? my boyfriend's one of the best ball players on campus and I can even beat him from time to time"
"virtual ain't reality boo, but hurd the big balla. come scrape me then"
I hate being challenged because I'm one of those people who always wants to be right. I know that's a bad trait to have but at least I admit it, some people can't. That and never backing out of dares are my two weaknesses.
"I hope your skills are better than your gpa" I said while dragging my chair by him
He just chuckled then handed me a controller.
"nah, the other one" I said while pointing to the gold controller
I thought he'd argue but he just scoffed then switched controllers. I smirked then sat down. Let's not fail Masai now.
Time pretty much flew by after that. We played round after round until Majesty finally walked in interrupting us.
"who's leading?" He asked while setting the food down on his desk
"me" I cheesed
"nah this nigga a cheater"
"bro his nigga play ball, really good, he know the whole playbook. I don't know why you even tried" Majesty laughed
I paused the game then got up to go over to him. There were two bags of Qdoba on his desk. It's been a minute since I last had Qdoba. I was supposed to get Masai some a while ago since he never tried it but that never happened.
"this one's yours" He said holding up one of the bags
"thanks"
"no problem. so how was your weekend? what'd you do, besides the obvious" He said with a devious smile
"we actually didn't do that. we did do stuff, just not that. we mostly chilled, cooked, watched some movies—that was yesterday. early today we looked at more house options for the fall. it was a calm weekend but still was great to spend time with him"
"this none of my business but if he go to school here why you had to go visit him as if he don't go here?" Hyland asked
Majesty just stared at me wondering how I'd respond.
"he's uh handling some things right now and can't be on campus for it"
"oh" He said not completely satisfied with my answer but knowing that was all he was gonna get
"I'm gonna go take a leak real quick" He said then got up to leave the room
As soon as he was gone Majesty started talking.
"it's not my place but I think it'd be best to tell him. he's about to be on campus all week and Masai is kinda the biggest talking points recently. that's up to you though, but he's gonna find out one way or another, I think it'd be better for you to control the narrative"
"I don't really care what your friend, or anyone for that matter thinks about this situation—"
"as you shouldn't" He agreed
"but you're right...better hearing it from me than anyone else. I'll tell him after we eat"
I opened the lid on my food then reached in the bag to take out a fork. Majesty knows me so well now that it's crazy. He knew exactly what to get on my food and what not to, for example gauc but no sour cream.
The door swung open and Hyland walked back in swinging his hands back and forth, most likely to dry them. It made me notice that his hands were huge.
"you got that edible right?" He asked Majesty as he walked over to his desk
"yeah. dude was doin a three for twenty deal so I just copped that"
"that's valid. me, you and him"
"nah he don't smoke"
"ohh"
"uhh I may not smoke but I never said weed was off the table" I said after swallowing my food
"you do edibles?" Majesty asked surprised
"I've had it a couple of times, it never hit me though. maybe I'm just immune"
"nah bro these shits, will kill you. we made the dumb mistake of eating the whole thing Friday night" He said while lifting up the ziplock bag with a brownie it that Maj had just set down
"I doubt it. each time I've had a weed brownie nothing happened"
He and Majesty turned to look at each other then a mischievous smile on both their faces.
"you tryna give him one?" Majesty asked
"nah. he gon' wanna fuck anything in sight and you know I don't give a fuck about no one's boyfriend"
He's gay? or at least into guys. I kinda sensed that though from earlier.
"shut up, you wouldn't even have a chance if I were single" I said standing up and gently snatching the brownie out of his hand
I sat back down, crossed my legs and opened the bag.
"say bet?" He said before licking his lips "I could have you now—with a boyfriend, but I won't do that to you. Maj fuck with you so I won't be messy and ruin your life"
"ruin my life? you not even all that"
I knew that was a lie and I knew he knew that was a lie too. He may not be a 10 in everyone's book but he definitely could get it—if Masai were not in the picture of course.
"Cai" Majesty said shaking his head "he's dead serious. and your nigga need you right now"
I scoffed then rolled my eyes, they give this man too much weight.
"oh imma get you lil boy" He whispered before sitting to eat

"Hey babyyyyyyyyy" I dragged on once the call connected
"you drunk?" He immediately asked
"nah he clapped" Majesty yelled before I could even respond
"y'all made my baby smoke?" Masai asked
"nah brownies. we told him don't eat the whole thing but you know his stubborn ass"
I started giggling for no reason. That wasn't even funny.
"yo ass mad stubborn. it's aight though. live your life"
"why didn't you answer my call?"
"I was showering"
"I missed you. I was lonely, I wanted to suck your dick"
"oh" I heard Hyland whisper in the back
"you smacked smacked" Masai started laughing
"I want you to suck my dick, and then I suck yours" I said before biting my lower lip
"you always chattin on the phone but when I come over there that energy is gone. but anyways Carter called me right after I dropped you off"
"what'd he say?" I asked even though he was probably gonna tell me in the next sentence
"my preliminary hearing is gonna be Tuesday. he's flying out here tonight so we can prepare tomorrow"
My eyes widened when he said preliminary hearing. I hadn't filled Hyland in about the situation yet.
"well you're innocent so hopefully this is it, then you can come back"
"yeah" He sighed
"what you about to do?" I asked while resting my head down on the pillow
"play some 2k then go to sleep" He said followed by a yawn "what about you?"
"I'm tired, I think...imma go to sleep"
I put my phone down next to my pillow then lowered the volume a bit. This is how I've gone to sleep the past week, with him being on the phone. We end up not talking at some point but I just want to hear the background, just knowing he's there is good enough for me.
"oh right you got class in the morning"
"good night"
