Twenty-One

After Van and I eat breakfast, Greta tells me that she found my shirt and shorts in the bathroom and she'd wash them for me. Once my clothes are done getting cleaned, I'm leaving, I'm not staying any longer. I shouldn't even be here right now, I should however be in school, but a part of me thinks that ditching to be with Van is worth it. He doesn't lie to me, and I don't lie to him. That's how this relation— I mean FRIENDship is going to work.

Van and I sit on the couch in the living room, to watch some TV. I sit all the way at one end of the couch and lay my legs across his lap. I may not have been trying to get him to 'want' me last night, but today just feels different with him. Part of me hates that when I'm around him I can't be mad at him, but the other part knows that forgiving him is the only thing that will make me feel better.

I feel Van's hand touch my bare leg and pretend it's not there, I just keep staring at the TV. I can't even pay attention to what's on TV, which I'm pretty sure is The Smurfs...and boy is Van's hand warm...

His hand is slipping up...closer....closer...clos—

"Julie, will you come with me to the store!" Greta calls to Mrs. Taylor from somewhere in the house. "Silly me dropped the laundry detergent all over the floor."

"Yeah, I'll meet you in the car!" Mrs. Taylor yells back then "Vance, Abby, we're leaving," she tells us, then a door closes.

That was random...and weird. Greta was probably doing my laundry and spilled the detergent on the floor.

Van leans in closer and asks, "did you buy that?"

I look at him, "buy what?"

He chuckles. "We're the only ones in the house now," he explains.

The only ones in the house right now... If Van wanted to he could take me upstairs do god only knows what with me. Oh my god what am I thinking...? Sleeping with Van? I can't sleep with Van. I have too much dignity to sleep with Van. He's slept with...everybody. No, I think the bigger question is why am I even thinking of sleeping with Van. I know I've thought about being with Van, but I haven't thought about...sleeping with Van. Maybe as a joke, but actually sleeping with him...?

Ugh...who am I kidding? I need to face the stupid truth that in not only my life, but every girls life, there will always be those three guys: the one she hates, the one that she can't get enough of, and the one she loves.

"Okay, so I have a quick question," Van says.

Here we go...

"Since Smurfs are blue and that's the color you turn when you're choking, what color do they turn when they're choking?" Van asks.

I laugh and shake my head. "You crack me up." Where does he even come up with some of the random crap he says. The funny thing is that if you actually think about what he says, he has a point. A very big point in fact.

"So...what do we do now?" I ask quietly.

Van looks around the room and stops when he sees something on the shelf across from us. "Well, since Vance Taylor is always prepared, we could play Monopoly until we puke," he chuckles.

A smile slowly forms on my lips and we both jump up from the couch, saying, "I'm the car!"

We both laugh and I say, "fine I'll be the thimble."

"Out of all of the rest of them, the thimble? Really? What's with that?" he teases, while taking the game off of the shelf.

I shrug as I start to clear off the coffee table. "I don't know, it's a fun word to say. Thimble. Say it, isn't it fun to say?"

"Thimble," he says then shakes his head. "I gotta say that I'm not feeling it."

I laugh. "Your loss."

He chuckles. "Isn't it always," he mumbles. "You know what, what do you say we make this interesting?"

Oh no, here comes horny Van...

"Okay...?" I reply.

"If I win, then you have to drink a big glass of strawberry milk," Van says, surprising the hell out of me.

I make a gag noise. "Fine, but if I win then you have to do everything I say, deal?"

Van thinks for a second before nodding in agreement. "Deal."

I suck. This is supposed to be the easiest game to win. I mean, how do you lose Monopoly? Especially when only two people are playing. I haven't officially lost, but I'm going to. Van has a friggin hotel on almost every spot. Asshole.

"It's your turn," Van tells me, trying not to smile because of how angry I'm getting. I hate losing.

I roll the dice and get a three and a two. Five. I'm on North Carolina Avenue now and five spaces puts me on Park Place. Where ANOTHER one of Van's hotels is. Oh my god, not again...

Van cracks up laughing and says, "I believe that means you owe me—"

I cut him off by shaking my head. "There's no way I'm paying you again," I tell him while flicking his hotel off of the board and across the room.

"You did not just do that," Van states, smiling slowly.

I smile devilishly. "I believe I did. What are you going to do now? Were you prepared for that?"

Van flashes a smile and sighs, then wipes the whole board clean by pushing it all onto the floor. "There. You win," he says.

I laugh. "Technically you would've won, but I like your idea better."

"Alright, what do I have to do?" he asks.

I stand up. "Chase me," I smile and start running. Van chases me around the house for a few minutes before I take the stairs.

As I'm running my way up the stairs, I can hear Van behind me, and I push open one of the doors on the next floor. Van grabs me by the waist and tackles me to the bed. Both of us are laughing so hard, trying to catch our breath.

Van rolls on top of me, looking down at me, bringing the heavy breathing to a stop. "Now what?"

I think for a minute...I don't know, I hadn't thought that far. "You have to kiss me..." I think of a place and say, "here," pointing to my cheek.

Van leans in closer and presses his warm lips against my chilled cheek, making my whole body shiver in joy. But, he doesn't stop there, his lips trail mine and I immediately kiss him back. Maybe this isn't how I saw this happening, but it works for me.

Van traces tongue along the bottom on my lip, asking for entrance and at first I don't give access so Van parts for a second to say, "tease". I pull him back into the kiss by the base of his neck, as he smiles against my lips, making me smile.

Van's hand travels to the bottom off his t-shirt that I'm wearing. He bunches up the fabric and pushes it up until it's completely over my head and tossed onto the perfectly cleaned floor, leaving me in my bra and panties.

I run my fingers through Van's hair, making it to the back of his head. I tug a little on his hair and he releases a groan into my mouth, causing me to smile.

Ten minutes into just kissing under the covers, Van's hand drifts lower and starts to push down my panties. I don't stop him, but he stops himself and pulls away, looking down at me.

"What? What's wrong?" I question. Oh my gosh...it's me, isn't it? I did something wrong. I'm such a virgin...

Van shakes his head. "Nothing's wrong, it's just...I don't have anything..." he trails off.

I laugh. "I guess Vance Taylor isn't always prepared, is he?" I tease.

He blushes. "No. I guess not... Do you?"

Yeah, because I keep carry a condom in my back pocket. I'm not wearing pants. I don't even have pants, I've been wearing his shirt. I shake my head slowly at Van. "Does it look like I have a place to keep one?" I joke.

Van smiles, causing me to smile. "We should probably stop then, huh?"

I prop myself up on my elbows, to get closer to him. I kiss him and say, "we should...but..." I kiss him again.

Great, just great. Sleeping with Van, this is exactly where I didn't want this to go. I know it's wrong and I shouldn't, but I can't bring myself to stop.

In the end all of the three guys is really just one. I hate Van, but yet; I love him. I don't want to be around him, but I still can't get enough of him.

*****

Again, I'm sorry it's so short, but I wanted to tell you that I was thinking about continuing the story and I KNEW that I had to post something for you to read in order to do that:)

If you have any "It's Like...But..." That would work for the Vabby relationship let me know and if it's okay with you for me to use it and it works, I will give you FULL credit for it:) Lol.

I'll try and upload soon, but until then, think of this: If they're called APARTments, then why are they connected?

I LOVE YOU ALL:)
