LOVE SPELL

It's already 12 midnight and i'm still awake. My addiction to video games has been keeping me awake at night. It's like it has turned me into a zombie and i can't help it. I t's just like couldn't help myself from playing these games. It's like my all time passion has been gaming. Bad news is my grades in school are already worse since this has been preoccupying my mind most of the time. I suddenly stopped playing when i heard my cellphone ringing.
'Wazzup man. What's the reason for your disturbance' i asked. 'You still up as usual? I just wanted to talk to someone right now. You know. About some stuff.' Kenjay said. 'Oh man. Don't tell me you still can't get over Keslene. I thought she rejected you.' I teased. 'Oh that's harsh, man. Anyway, I was just checking online and she just posted a selfie. Damn. she's so hot. Why can't she just say yes to me and be her boyfriend. What's wrong with me?' he sadly asked. 'Oh c'mon. Don't be so dramatic. You look like a playboy. That's why. Of course. You already have your reputation of being the heartbreaker of those innocent girls in campus.' I added. 'Hey! That's not fair! It's not my problem girls like me that much. And i do like her... a lot.' he said. 'Alright. Let's talk about it tomorrow. Sleep now, my friend.' i said and we ended the call.
And Kenjay has a point. He has been my bestfriend since elementary and we almost act like we are twins. All secrets we have: Crushes. Heartbreaks. Troubles. We share them with each other. I must admit though he's way better looking than me. His squinty chinito eyes and muscular build has been keeping the girls drawn to him... instead of me. I know it's unfair but i like it that way. Not much attention to me and acting like i'm his sidekick, it's not that bad. The downside is i'm still a virgin. And i'm planning on putting an end to it. Just the thought of me courting girls just puts a smile on my face. Why can't having a relationship be like playing video games? That way, i know i'm always gonna win. I was about to continue to play again when i heard footsteps moving closer to my room. 'Oh fuck.' i hurriedly went back to my bed and pretend like i was sleeping. i know it's my mom again checking on me if i'm still awake. I don't wanna be scolded so i closed my eyes and finally ended my battle with sleepiness. Tomorrow's gonna be a new day. I can feel it.

I woke up with the sound of my alarm. It's 7 o'clock. I tried to sleep again but my mom as always started her nagging to irritate me. That's the best way to make me leave my bed and prepare for school. I know at times she overreacts but i love her for that. We already got used to it and it always works. 'Jonas, breakfast is ready.' she shouted. I got up from my bed and went straight to the bathroom. I took a shower and finished preparing for school. I went downstairs and quickly ate breakfast. 'Mom, i'll be going with Karin later. We're just gonna go to the mall. Okay.' I said. Karin is my older cousin. At times, we hang out since he knows how to have fun. I'm planning to have a makeover: have a badass haircut and get a tattoo. Of course, it's our secret. I know mom will get extremely mad if she will know about my plan. 'Alright, here's some money. Just stay out of trouble, okay?' she said. 'Thanks mom! You're the best. I love you.' i said. I hugged her and got my bag to go to school.
I just commute whenever i go to school. Luckily, I live in the same subdivision as Kenjay. He usually drives his car when going to school. Just when i'm about to exit our gate, a familiar car parks on our front yard. 'Hop in.' Kenjay said. We reached school and started talking about our unfinished conversation last night. 'So what are your plans ? I think you should distance to Keslene and try to make her jealous. That way, we'll know if she'll react.' i suggested. 'It's not gonna work. I tried it with Naomi and it just backfired on me. Naomi's now into the idea that i'm courting her.' he said. 'Dumbass. Of course. Did you tell her that it's just going to be an act? Don't tell me you kissed Naomi?' and i gave him the look. 'Uh. Yeah. But it needs to be realistic man. It was just a kiss.' he explained. 'Geez! You're in big trouble.' And we just laughed. As we hear the bell ringing, we went to our room and started class. As usual, Kenjay is still focused on things other than school. He stares at Keslene most of the time, trying to do his 'irresistible smile'. Well they look like the perfect couple. Then I figured 'how come Keslene doesn't like him? Could it be someone else?'
During lunchtime, i tried to sneak out of the gym to see if Keslene is seeing anyone. And boooom! There it is. She's seeing Gregg, the varsity player. I know things are gonna turn out pretty bad but i'm comtemplating whether i should tell Kenjay about what i saw or if should keep it to myself. Class ended and i decided not to tell him. I was preoccupied by my plan with Karin this afternoon. I said goodbye to Kenjay who's still clueless about Keslene and Gregg.

Me and my cousin went to the mall first to buy some new games for me to play. Then he asked me to accompany somewhere. We went to this crazy street with some weird stores. 'C'mon. This is where i got my tattoo.' We entered the store and a guy with a cool look greeted us. He had some piercing on his nose and he has this sort of Aztec tattoo all over his right arm. 'What can i do for you?' he politely asked. 'Uhm. Yeah. Just wanna get a tattoo.' i said. 'Bro! Wazzup!' my cousin greeted. 'Help out my cousin here okay. He needs to have a badass tattoo.' 'What do you want?' he asked. I was clueless for a second. 'Hmm what do i want?' I suggested some ideas but we ended up with a line to be a tattooed on my left chest. At first, i was excited but as i was going through the process... Oh yeah! i was screaming in pain. But it's so awesome. I feel like a real man. And the result was amazing. 'Now we better hurry coz you need to have a haircut too.' Karin said. We thanked the tattoo guy and walked out of the store. As we were walking, i noticed a mysterious store. 'Hey, what's up with that?' i asked. 'Oh that? it's like a voodoo/charms store. Wanna go?' he said. 'Hmm... Sounds interesting to me. We went inside and see these weird displays. All kinds of stuff. Figurines. Dreamcatcher. Bottles with some weird stuff on it. It's like the store is filled with these one of a kind stuff. Very fascinating. 'Hi. What brings you two cute boys here?' a young girl greeted. She was wearing sunglasses and this interesting earrings which were like beads. 'Oh nothing. We were just checking out the store. Pretty cool, huh' Karin said. I continued to walk inside and try to check the stuff in every aisle. Then something caught my attention. Love potion.

'What is this?' i asked. The girl approached me and looked at the bottle i was holding. 'Oh that? Great choice. It's a love potion. You can make your crush fall in love with you by letting her drink that.' she explained. 'Really? Can you make one for me?' i said. 'Little bro, we gotta hurry up.' Karin said. 'Just give me ten minutes. alright' i said. 'Well, so it's a love spell we'll be making. Do you have like hair strand from your crush?' she asked. 'Uh nope.' i said. 'Okay just give me your hair strand instead and i'll make something.' Then she asked me to accompany her inside a dark room. I sat there and watched her as she tried making something. It's like in movies where witches are doing incantations to create a spell. This time though, i'm part of it. As she finished her ritual, she gave me a vial which has some liquid on it. 'Whoever drinks this will fall in love with you. Just be careful and try to think about it.' Afterwards, we headed out of the store onto his car and drive back to the mall to find a barbershop. 'So what happened? Did Miss mysterious get your number?' my cousin teased. 'Uh no.' i said. I did not tell Karin about the love potion to avoid him from freaking out. I don't want him to see me as very desperate to get laid. We decided to go with some punk haircut for me. 'Bam! Now you're some chinito rocker. So you better have a girlfriend now or else. I'm gonna kiss your ass and suggest you be put in the military.' Karin fooling around. 'That sounds a lot of fun, cous.' I replied laughing while we walk back to his car. 'Oh really? that's why you're not getting laid my man. You gotta be charming from now on. Alright. If you don't have a girlfriend by next month, i'll make sure to give away your valued video games.' 'You're not serious, are you? C'mon', he continued making fun of each other until we reached the house. I thanked Karin for accompanying me and i walked straight to my room. I called Kenjay to let him see my tattoo. He rushed to my house and as we arrived in my room, we closed the door and i removed my shirt. 'Ta-daaaa!!!! So what do you think?' He looked at it for a second and tried reading what it says. 'Believe in yourself and never give up??? Oooh! Yeaaah! This is awesome! Does it hurt?' He tried to touch it and i screamed. 'Arrrgh! Of course it still hurts!' i said. I faced the mirror to look at the tattoo. I still feel amazed by it. then i was surprised as i see him holding the vial i got from the store. 'What's this?' then he just tried drinking it. 'What the fuck!!!!' i shouted.

He stopped but it was too late. He drank a couple of it. It was almost empty when i got it from him. 'Geez! Man. You mad? What's that anyway?' he asked. 'Uh nothing. Hey don't do that ever again okay?' i calmly said. Then i heard my mom knocking on my door. 'Guys, dinner's ready.' We panicked upon hearing her voice and i hurriedly wore my shirt and fixed my look. Then she opened the door and looked at us. 'Kenken, come join us for dinner okay. I prepared something special for you. And you. What happened to your hair? You look like a bad boy.' mom said. And she went downstairs. We were silent for a while then we laughed so hard. 'I guess that's a confirmation. You now look like a badass. Good for you.' Kenjay said. I just gave him the look. We went downstairs as well and ate dinner. I asked mom if Kenjay can stay for the night and luckily she said okay. So after eating we went upstairs again and into my room. We had to brush our teeth and change to our sleeping clothes. I let Kenjay borrow my boxers and sando while i wear a sando and my pajamas. We then decided to watch some action movie. The Deaths of Ian Stone. It was pretty cool. We're almost done watching when Kenjay said that he had to sleep since he's feeling kinda nauseous. He went to sleep while i continued watching the movie. Afterwards, i decided to stay next to him in my bed. Then i thought of something fun to do. I opened the lights and started taking pictures of him while he was sleeping. I tried to even position his body into some cool poses. I was laughing my ass off. Then i posted the pictures online. It was hilarious. Then I turned off the lights and closed my eyes.

Something caught my attention as i was sleeping. I could feel soft hands brushing through my hair. I gently opened my eyes and see Kenjay staring at me while he touches my hair. 'Let's just sleep man. It's past midnight.' I thought he was just getting back at me for taking pictures of him. So i continued trying to sleep again. He stopped what he was doing and got back to sleep but with him hugging me. I just ignored it.
I just woke up with the sound of the alarm. And surprise. He just staring at me again. 'Dude what have you been doing? You're starting to freak me out.' i said. 'I just liked looking at you and your new hairstyle. It's really awesome. I tell you.' he explained. Then we just got up from my bed and sat next to each other. 'Hey. I need to tell you something.' I said. 'About what?' Kenjay asked. 'Uhm i don't know how to tell you but i just want you to know that you're my best friend and i care about you a lot. Okay?' i added. He just nodded with some puzzled face. 'You know Keslene right and how she rejected you? Uhm I think i know the reason... I think she's with Gregg.' I hesitantly said. He looked surprised and startled. 'C'mon man. Say something.' i punched him lightly in the arm trying to get some reaction but his face looked sadder. It's like he's gonna cry any minute now. Then i hugged him and tried to pat his back. 'Everything's gonna be alright. Okay?' i said with assurance. Thanks Jonas. Then I saw some tears in his eyes but with a smile on his face. Let's take a shower now. We better be early for school. I gotta work this new look, you know.' I said. Can i see your tattoo again?' he asked. I took off my sando and showed my chest for him to see the tattoo. 'You should also get a tattoo.' I said. He then gently touches the trail of the ink with his fingers and he then gives this fascinated look. Then i let him borrow my shirt so he can go to his house and prepare for school. It's a good thing their house is just one block away right across the street. I was laughing coz he was running with his boxers early in the morning as if he was trying to sneak out of someone's place after a late night sex. 'He's just so funny. I hope he's doing well.'

School was busy as usual. The only difference is I feel like something's wrong. Kenjay has been silent the whole time we got to class. Definitely unusual from the fun vibe I get from him whenever we're in school. 'Could it be that he's still affected by the things I said about Keslene?' that guilty feeling suddenly hit me hard and I felt worried about him. 'Hey man, you wanna go to the movies after class?' I asked him. I felt relieved when he gave a thumbs up and a smile on his face. Good work Jonas!
