Asperger's, also known as Asperger's syndrome (AS) is a less severe form of autism. The characteristics of Asperger syndrome vary from one person to another, but in order for a diagnosis to be made, a person will usually be assessed as having had persistent difficulties with social communication and social interaction, and restricted and repetitive patterns of behaviours, activities or interests.
People with Asperger's might not be recognized for their empathetic qualities, due to variation in the ways empathy is felt and expressed. Some people feel deep empathy, but do not outwardly communicate these sentiments through facial expressions or language.
In case you are wondering, yes, people with Asperger's can drive, get married, and so on. In fact, most cases even fade over time as the person transitions from adolescence to adulthood.
