Note: This story is taking place in both the HeartGold and SoulSilver universes which means both Legendaries will be encountered.

I do not know the true personalities of some characters like Kotone/Lyra, Ethan/Hibiki, etc. Their personalities will be predicted from the resources in the game, anime, and info source(s). Their Pokémon teams are decided by info sources and the experience of gameplay from my brother and myself.

Fonts that are darkened represents Author Notes and whose P.O.V it is. Italics are used on the main flashbacks or recaps of the past and any reading from engraved materials(wood, stone, pages, etc)

All Pokédex entries are a combination of the entries of HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Lyra~

"Green..."

The woman had a neutral expression on her face, approaching us coolly without hesitation. Exchanger's posture stiffened, which made me worried. However, the woman didn't appear to have a desire to hurt us.

Instead, she approached me and placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Lyra, right? I heard what's happening from my... friend. Listen, I'm here to introduce myself. My name is Green, and you can say Silver and I had... some history together."

I remembered Pryce's words, of how she sheltered Silver when he was in his critical moment, of how the fire caused him to have amnesia. Green stared at me as if she was expecting an answer, but I could tell she knew I wouldn't say anything. After all, I don't know a whole lot about Silver, not the way Green did.

I couldn't help but feel jealous.

"Anyways, the person manipulating Silver happens to have my face. You see, Silver and I were kidnapped by a Masked Man, who planned on using us on his conquest to capture and control Celebi. Have you heard of this story?" she asked.

"I haven't heard a lot about it, but Silver did briefly explain what happened," I answered truthfully.

Green nodded. "Well then, I'll be re-explaining things. I don't want you to misunderstand the situation. Silver and I escaped his clutches after nine or so years of imprisonment. Things weren't going smoothly for us, adapting to society and all that. Silver had people after him, specifically because he had connections to Team Rocket."

"But why, though? Why did the Masked Man went through all of the trouble?" I asked.

"Better if I don't tell you," Green replied bluntly. "Better if you don't know who the Masked Man is at all."

"And why is that?" Morty retorted.

I turned to Exchanger, who had his head facing towards the ground. It definitely had to do something with Green's words. What was she hiding from us?

"Don't know Silver that long? Perhaps I'm overestimating your complexity," Green responded.

"Don't say that to Lyra, Green. Silver has gotten better in hiding his emotions in this lifetime," Exchanger scolded lightly.

Green raised her hands in surrender.

"Whatever; however, I do stand my opinion on not telling you, Lyra. He's a dead-man, after all."

"Dead-man?" I questioned.

Was he already dead? There shouldn't be much harm in telling me who he is, right? However, maybe Green's worried he'll rise up from the grave or something. Thinking about that possibly gave me chills.

"Anyways, let's just head to the Whirl Islands now. According to Exchanger, Silver's no longer savable now," Morty suggested.

"But I don't have Togekiss with me, and Marill is not strong enough to carry me through the waters," I noted.

I heard Green bring out a Pokémon behind me. When I turned around, I saw a large blue Pokémon with two blasters on its shell. I took out my Pokémon; however, my Pokédex started to have errors, all of a sudden.

Green approached me and took out a fairly identical Pokédex and opened it for me.

"Blastoise; the Shellfish Pokémon. It deliberately makes itself heavy so it can withstand the recoil of the water jets it fires, one that is capable of punching holes through thick steel."

"This Blastoise is my starter Pokémon, a Pokémon I stole from a Professor's lab—Professor Oak's, to be exact. Silver and I are no different from each other, as you can see, so this Blastoise trusts me enough to lend you a helping hand. He'll bring you to the Whirls Island in no time," Green explained.

She approached the Blastoise and placed her hand on its shell, patting it a few times before the Blastoise marched to the water and laid flat on its stomach. Green motioned me to approach the Pokémon, patting its back one more time to tell me to sit on Blastoise's shell. I glanced at Bayleef and she nodded, telling each other that we're ready to set off.

I returned Bayleef and Marill back in their Pokéballs and sat on Blastoise's large shell. Green brought out her Pidgeot and returned her Alakazam, hopping onto Pidgeot's back and flying across the sky. Just before Blastoise took off, I stared at Exchanger who stood there and nodded.

"I will not stop you anymore, but I beg of you to return safely, with or without Lugia... I just want you to be alive," he informed me.

I nodded back. "Wait for me, okay? I won't be gone long."

Blastoise proceeded to follow Green through the waters. It was startling but didn't frighten me at all, as I grasped onto Blastoise's shell as if my life depended on it. I glanced back to stare at Morty and Exchanger by the shore.

Morty didn't appear to be following us. Perhaps he was going to wait for Ethan and Lance to arrive. He watched us get further and further away from him until he walked away the moment we were out of reach.

Blastoise followed Green through the seas until we reached a piece of land surrounded by large rocks. There was a cave in the middle of the land within the area of the large rocks. Green's Pidgeot landed on top of a rock sticking out from the sea, hopping off and returning both Blastoise and Pidgeot back into their Pokéballs. She motioned me to follow her, as she walked towards the cave I noticed earlier.

"This is one of the entrances of the Whirl Islands. Once we follow the path inside, we will be able to find Lugia's chamber," Green noted.

As I followed her, I clenched the tidal bell in my bag, the one that would help me summon Lugia. However, we did encounter many trainers inside, very oblivious to the future that was going to unfold. I wanted to lash out on them, to tell them they'd be dead once Silver gains control of Ho-oh, but I refrained from doing so.

Perhaps it's better for them to be ignorant of the truth.

Green battled each of them, one by one, leaving no mercy towards her opponents. Her Blastoise was very strong, along with her Nidoqueen and Alakazam. The way she battled—I couldn't help but compare her to Silver. Their battle styles were very similar: to wipe away their opponents with a clean sweep.

I followed Green silently, watching her battle every couple of minutes, without even needing rest. When I expressed concern about that, she shrugged it off and told me to not slow down my pace. Was this really the person who sheltered Silver two years ago?

"The Whirl Islands are filled with many mysteries, you know. It consists of four islands that are protected by large whirlpools. Sometimes, it's difficult to get into these islands," Green explained.

"It sounds like you have been here before," I noted.

Green nodded. "I have while searching for Lugia myself. It should've been obvious that the way to summoning Lugia had another component, so I hope you know what you're doing. Don't make my assistance here be for nothing."

"I won't. You've protected Silver after the fire incident, so let me be the one who will watch him for the rest of his life," I vowed.

Though I wasn't looking at Green, I heard a grunt escape from her lips. Perhaps she was about to say something but had decided against it. Instead, I heard a sigh afterward.

"Don't act like you're the one who is to blame. It's not all about you—"

"It's not about you either," I interrupted, stepping in front of her which stopped the both of us. Green's blank stare started turning cold, the frown on her face became more evident. However, I stood my ground.

"Just because you knew Silver more doesn't mean he's yours. I may be very inexperienced, and I may not know as much as you do, but I am determined to go through with this, to confront Silver and fight him until he sees the truth."

"I never said he was mine. Do not be so hypocritical—"

"But you're trying to keep me away from him. You're trying to create a wedge when you realized Silver and I were close," I countered.

"If that's the case, why would I bring you here? Why would I bother helping you reach Lugia's chamber?" Green questioned sternly, stepping forward which caused me to step back.

However, I did not waver my gaze from her.

"It's because you need me to summon Lugia. You want to use Lugia to confront Silver by yourself. In the end, you wanted Silver for yourself."

Her eyes widened, her brows furrowed with furry. "You—!"

"That's enough," another voice spoke, one that was unfamiliar to me.

Green turned around and I glanced over her shoulders to notice a man with brown hair heading towards us. His hands were in his pockets, as he calmly approaches us with a large Pokémon behind him. I took out my Pokédex immediately.

"Arcanine; the Legendary Pokémon. The magnificent bark of this Chinese Pokémon conveys a sense of majesty. Anyone hearing it can't help but grovel before it."

"Green, don't fool around with her. Remember what the initial goals are: we're here to stop in incident that happened two years ago," the man reminded her.

"You seem to be very reliant on others, haven't you Blue? Of course, I won't let the incident of two years ago to happen again," she retorted back stomping away afterward.

The man called Blue turned to me. "Don't worry, Green's just messing with you. After all, she and Silver grew up together, so I guess she has become a bit protective—possessive, maybe."

"Is she that suspicious of me?" I questioned.

"I knew for a while; that was definitely not hatred. The incident two years ago was pretty horrific. As I said, she's probably just worried about Silver. They have a sibling-like bond, you know."

"Who are you?" I asked.

The man grinned and pointed his thumb to himself. "The name's Blue. I used to be the Champion of Kanto, though it was short-lived...—anyways, I'm the Viridian City Gym Leader now in Kanto. Drop by my Gym so I can see what you're made out of—of course, not now."

"Well, it's nice to meet you Blue. I'm Lyra," I introduced myself.

He nodded. "Yep, an acquaintance of mine told me. You may not get along with Green now, but she'll warm up to you."

"Both you and Green mentioned meeting a friend or acquaintance. Who is he anyway?" I asked.

"His name is Red—actually, he was the one who defeated me and became the Champion of Kanto. We grew up together in Pallet Town, fought and argued with Green together too. I guess the three of us have become that close."

We continued further into the cave while searching for Green who ran off somewhere. Blue reassured me to not worry, as Green will definitely come to us than vice versa. Instead, he continued taking me to the direction that supposedly would bring me to Lugia.

Then, we entered a room where we noticed Green sitting on the rocks.

"Waiting for us?" Blue teased.

Green slapped his shoulder the moment she saw us. "In your dreams."

"Anyways, that path will take us to Lugia's chambers. Are you ready, Lyra?" Blue asked.

I knew that taking the path will bring me to Lugia, the way to stop Ho-oh and Silver. Right now, there was no part of me that was regretting taking this path. I've come so far and I was ready to end things.

"Yes, I'm ready."
