When I started reading this book, I was blank what it was going to offer me. Probably, that was the best thing happened for me. I read it one go. This book is not about enlightenment but the incidents a person faces to attain enlightenment.
It is translated in a simple English language (Author was a German-born). People, who are too much involved in getting the meaning of life, must read this book. It gives you an immense amount of knowledge and wisdom with its simple sentences, conveying the ultimate truth of life.
Sometimes we are searching for the truth that lies in us only. While reading this book, I was having a kind of feeling that could not be defined through words. Throughout the book, I was in a different state of mind, but I was so calm and happy with what I read.
I am not going to talk anything about the characters or the story in my review, but just the feeling that I have had while going through the amazing literature by Hermann Hesse. The story is about the search, the ultimate search, for Siddhartha (Siddhartha is not Buddha).
This exploration is described so beautifully through various incidents in the book that not only inspires but also gives a deep meaning of life. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I can read this book again and again.
Recommending it to all those who love to read books on the meaning of life. It is a small book and hardly needs 2-3 sittings for those who don't read every day. I feel I am lucky that I read this book. It is hard to review such books because they give you so much to take from it that you become responsible to judge it. It is one of those special books.
