THE FIRST THING SHANESSA DID WHEN SHE WOKE UP WAS TRYING TO REMEMBER WHAT HAD HAPPENED LAST NIGHT, how much she drank or how much she spilled her thoughts on her friends? Did she embarrass herself in front of them again or she had learned from what happened the last time she was drunk? Those thoughts whirled inside her head maniacally until she only got a massive headache in return, Shanessa groaned and sat up, taking in her surroundings.
How could I get home again last night?
If Shanessa was having trouble recalling who drove her home, that meant she was completely out cold last night. But then again, at least Shanessa forgot about Ben for a moment. At the thought of him, Shanessa immediately brought her pillow up and shoved it to her face before she let out a frustration screech. Truthfully, she didn't know what had gotten into her, ever since they started chatting on daily basis again, those feelings arose within her. And the fact he and Katriona had broken up, it only paved the way for that feeling to return to her.
Or maybe Tom was right, it never left her for a second.
"Well, it's no use if he doesn't feel the same way," Shanessa muttered to no one in particular, sighing lightly before she hopped out of bed.
Just as Shanessa stepped outside her bedroom, she realized how desolate her house was. It was only ten in the morning, and the voices she heard were only hazy noises of New York City and the sound of her dog chewing his food. Thinking that Shailene probably had a meeting early in the morning, she just shrugged it off and shuffled to the kitchen for a quick breakfast.
Her phone did not stop ringing perhaps even before she woke up, but she didn't seem to have the enthusiasm to check it out. All she cared about at this exact moment was food as she forgot when she last ate something, which was actually only a few hours ago after Tom brought her McDonalds.
Shanessa was enjoying her light breakfast when a knock interrupted the moment. Placing down the spoon, Shanessa huffed out as she staggered toward the door. "What could someone possibly want at this hour?"
And once Shanessa opened the door, she literally stopped breathing for a short moment as her eyes widened largely, almost slammed the door shut as the first reaction if it wasn't for his hand was firmly planted on the door. The person she last expected to pay a visit instead stood before her, causing her heart to race erratically.
"Ben," Shanessa breathed out, gripping the door knob for dear life. "What, uh, what are you doing here?"
An unreadable expression embellished Ben's facial feature, but his entire posture looked somewhat strained. "Tell me it's just a lie."
Shanessa was a bit taken aback by his sentence as her lips parted open slightly, attempting to comprehend what he meant. "What lie?"
