The jeep turns down a side road and I turn to Jack and nod, gesturing for him to follow suit. As the car turns I look at what lies ahead. A huge prison, with fences and a creek around it. As I look further I start to see people moving about. Not walkers actual freakin' people. I wind my window down and stick my head out, we are driving across the creek now and I can see the people more clearly. In the yard there is a young boy and what I can only assume is his father, there are more people sitting around a pagoda and a cluster of children running around. I turn to Max and see his face, lit up with hope and excitment. The man working in the yard turns to us as Jack shuts off the jeeps engine.
"Guys you stay in the car. I'll check this out" I instruct I open my door and hop out, lifting Max off my lap and placing him on the seat. I close the door and check for walkers, there are none close but I can see some in the distance. I straighten myself up as I proceed towards the fence.
"Are you armed?" Someone yells.
"I have a gun and a machete, both of which are attached to me belt" I yell in response. suddenly a man steps out from behind a car.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?" the man asks gruffly. He looks around forty with a scraggly beard and greying hair. He is handsome with friendly blue eyes. He looks very familiar.
"I am Ruby, my group stumbled across this place incendently."
"Who is in your group?"
"We were attacked by a herd about half an hour ago, and I know we have lost people. but to my knowledge there is my cousin and I, he is five. A mother and her young daughter. A boy around 15 and an older man." I reply quickly "I dont know who is in the other car."
"How many walkers have you killed?"
"Too many to count."
"How many people have you killed?"
"Two."
"Why and who?" He asks me suspiciously.
"I killed them so they wouldnt turn. they were bit. It was my cousins twin and my Father." I reply sadly.
"Welcome to the group Ruby. Im Rick and this is my boy, Carl." The boy I saw before comes out from behind the car. His hair is dark and he has freckles, and he has the same blue eyes as his dad.
"Swing your vehicles round to the gate and you can park up with the other cars." Rick says as he makes his way towards the gate.
I turn around and see my group staring at me questioningly. I give them a reassuring smile as I turn the handle to get into the car.
"Whats happening?" Jack enquires softly
"We're going in."
