Chapter 3
Casey was escorted to my room. I heard a knock on my door and I jumped up anxious to see how her day had been. I opened the door and she fell into my arms.
"Casey?" She then started crying. "What's happened?" The girl who escorted her gave me a small smile and left. I walked Casey over to my bed and we both sat down.
"What is it? What has happened?" Casey sniffed and then started to stutter.
"I, I, I don't know. One minute everything was fine and then the next I was being shoved to the other side of the room." I shook my head. I had no idea what she was talking about.
"Casey, you need to start from the beginning. I don't know what you mean." She wiped away the last of her tears and began to tell me what had happened.
"After Jacob had taken me on a small tour of the school and shown me my room I got dressed into uniform and we set off to our class. I asked him what class it was and he said magical defences. I was pretty surprised at first but who was I to judge. He took me into a huge hall where people were paired up. One person attacked and the other cast spells to defend themselves. We only just found out we were witches for god's sake. How was I supposed to know what the hell was going on." She sat there shaking her head.
"So what else happened?" She then continued.
"Out of no where this pretty cute guy turns into a wolf. I thought being a witch was a bit fucked up but we haven't seen anything yet. Not really." I gasped not only at the shock of my sister swearing but at the fact she had seen a guy turn into a ware wolf.
"The wolf guy knocked me over and Jacob came to help me up. I think he had clicked on that I didn't no what the hell was going on. I had blood coming out of my arm where I had hit the wall." She showed me her bandaged arm and then carried on. "He took my hand and pulled me up. All of a sudden his face started to crease up and he looked really scary. He then went started to shake really bad and kind of went for me. That was when a girl jumped in front of me and shoved me half way across the room. She cast some sort of spell which froze Jacob and he couldn't move at all."
"What did your tutor say?" Casey started to shake her head.
"Nothing! He just called a nurse to come and bandage me up. I went the rest of the day without talking to anyone. I was in so much shock by everything. I just don't know what the hell is going on." I nodded at her and opened my arms to give her a hug. It looked like she had found out the truth the hard way.
"I am so sorry that you had to go through all that. I found out this morning just before class."
"Have you spoken to Mum? What has she got to say for herself?" I shook my head.
"No, she won't pick up her phone."
"Well I guess we will have to find everything out for ourselves." I nodded and then smiled.
"I know just the person who can help us." I got up from the bed. "I will be back in a minute." I walked down the corridor to Leah's room and knocked on. When she opened the door she was dressed in casual clothes, jeans, a vest top and some converse.
"Hey, are you ok?" She asked me.
"No, not really. I need your help. Can you come to my room?" She nodded her head and pulled the key out of the back of her door. She followed behind me and came into my room.
"Leah this is my sister Casey. Casey this is Leah." They both smiled at each other, willing to get on.
"So what do you need help with?" She asked.
"Everything. We only found out not so long ago that we were witches and out Mother enrolled us here. We only found out today that there are other mythical creatures and we don't know how to handle it and what to do or not do." Leah looked at us both in shock.
"I can't believe no one told you about all of this." Casey shook her head.
"Yeah, neither can we! Can you please tell us so I don't nearly get attacked again." Leah started to nod her head. I directed her over to come and sit on the bed with us and she did. I then told Casey and Leah what I already knew and then Leah began.
"Well let's start off with vampires. Here you have to be careful not to bleed because if a vampire smells blood they will attack. They don't do it on purpose but it happens. Usually they drink animal's blood so you don't need to worry about them trying to drink you." She smiled at us both. Out faces must have been very white by now. "Vampire's have fangs and can go out in sunlight. They are exactly the same as you and I accept there abilities are enhanced. They have great speed, amazing hearing and unbelievable strength." I nodded at Leah for her to go on. "Shape shifters aren't very common. Not many people realise that they can shape shift until there early twenties but some find out sooner. They are basically humans. They eat normal food and are the same as us except they can change into an animal. The first time they take on the form of an animal will clarify which shape they will always take. They can change whenever they like. The ware wolves are exactly the same apart from they travel in groups and have there own packs. There are also a hell of a lot more ware wolves than shape shifters." I nodded along.
"Ok, I think I get it. It doesn't seem too bad." She shook her head.
"It's not bad at all. You're just new to it." She then carried on. "Finally there are the witches." Both Casey and I smiled.
"Are you a witch?" Casey asked.
"Yes I am. Witches are both male and female if you were wondering. We are exactly the same as humans except we have extra powers. We have the abilities to cast spells and make potions and stuff. It's pretty cool all we can do really."
"Yeah it would be if we knew anything." Casey said.
"Don't worry you will learn soon enough. You just need to know how to reach your powers." I looked up at her.
"And how do you do that?"
"Well it's different for most people. If you are brought up knowing you are a witch then it usually just comes to you at around the age of about five."
"I think my powers have come to me because I was really angry and I accidently did something." Casey nudged me knowing what I was talking about. I think Leah might have noticed and realised this was an awkward subject so she didn't ask.
"Well I could try and teach you a simple spell and see if you can do it. Then we will no for sure." I nodded at her and Casey looked excited.
"Ok then." The light suddenly went off and then it came back on.
"Did you do that?" Leah nodded.
"Yep, I can cast spells in my head. You both will be able too one day but it takes some practice." She then started telling us a short spell to turn the lights on and off.
"You go first Camilla, lets see what you've got." I said it in my head first to remind myself how to say it but then the lights went out. I didn't even need to speak it aloud!
Leah gasped. "I cannot believe you have just done that without even speaking. Are you sure it was your first attempt." I nodded.
"Yes I swear!" I was practically bouncing on the bed.
"My go, my go." Casey said. The lights were flickering on and off.
"Ok that's enough, show off." I said to her. She had managed to do the same thing doing the spell in her head. She then left the lights on and we both smiled at each other. Leah still looked as though she were in shock.
"I can't believe it. You two are going to be very powerful witches!" We all squeaked and started jumping up and down on the bed. That was when the door knocked and Leah opened it without moving. Amazing! I thought to myself.
"Come in!" I shouted. A young guy walked in with a parcel which was wrapped in brown paper.
"I have a delivery for Camilla and Casey Junika." I smiled at him.
"Yep, that's us." He walked over and put the parcel on my lap.
"Thanks" He nodded and walked out of the door shutting it behind him. I opened the parcel and we all gasped this time. I stroked my finger across the writing on the front of the book. It was the spell book which our Mother had shown us in that old ladies Café. I opened it and we all lent over the book reading the first page. It was an ingredient on how to make your body smell like a certain perfume for months without having to apply it everyday. We were all smiling at each other excited about what else there might be in the book. Leah jumped up.
"Huh! I have to go, its five minutes before curfew." I looked over at Casey.
"We didn't no there was a curfew."
"Well there is and its 10pm on school nights." I nodded my head. I lifted the book off my lap and closed the buckle on it. I then hid it in the bottom of my wardrobe. Leah took off and went back to her room and I decided to walk Casey back to her room, even if it did mean I would be out after curfew. I couldn't let her go on her own. When I got to her room I had a quick look around. It was the same as mine apart from Mum had given her red duvet covers and all the stuff I had. As I was walking out I noticed the picture of Dad in her bin which made me smile since I had put his picture in my bin as well. I hugged her and kissed her good night.
"I will call you tomorrow." She shouted down the corridor as I left.
I was walking briskly back to my room not wanting to be caught outside after curfew. I new I was busted as soon as I heard foot steps. I carried on walking quickly but turned my head around to see if whoever it was, was behind me. I quickly realised they weren't when I felt a thud and fell to the floor.
"Ouch! Watch where you're going." I knew it was my fault considering I wasn't looking where I was going either. I saw a hand in front of my face offering to help me up. "Thanks." I said as I looked up. Who ever it was were wearing a hooded jumper and had the hood up.
"You do no its past curfew don't you?" I nodded my head.
"Yeah, I was just taking my little sister back to her room." He nodded.
"Well don't let anybody else catch you or you'll be in detention." I smiled at him.
"Thanks for the warning but why are you out past curfew?" He smiled and lowered his hood. Oh my god it was James. I should have guessed from the accent. He smiled at me but didn't say anything. "Well? What's your excuse?" He then laughed.
"I don't need an excuse Camilla." We then both heard footsteps.
"Shit!" I said. I then felt something on my hand and only then realised I was being pulled away by James. We hid behind a huge oak tree. It had just started to pour it down with rain. Great trust me to be wearing a purple bra with a white top and no jumper. I was looking down at my chest and James followed my gaze and started laughing again.
"Oh shut up." I was laughing with him now. "What happened to you not needing excuses hey?"
"I don't need excuses but you on the other hand do. I wouldn't want you getting in trouble on your first day now would I?"
"Well than you very much you're saving me from getting a telling off." He shook his head and me and smiled bearing all of his teeth. That was when I noticed he had fangs. I couldn't believe the guy I was crushing on was a vampire. I accidently let a gasp out.
"What?" he said looking around.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to gasp its just..." I hesitated, could I really trust this guy? I didn't really have a choice right now. "It's just I am new to all of this. I mean I only found out not so long ago I was a witch and only today have I found out about vampires and stuff." I gestured towards him.
"You really don't have a clue do you?" I shook my head.
"Nope I don't know anything around here. I feel so stupid. I'm still pissed off that my Mum didn't think it was important to tell me." He nudged me.
"Families eh." I smiled at him.
"You got that right!" He pulled his jumper off over his head. I could see his stomach and his abs. He was so hot that I could have feinted.
"Here." He passed me his jumper to get on. I don't think I could have hidden how cold I really was because of my goose bumps. I took it form him and put it on.
"Thanks."
"Come on I will walk you back to your room. You won't get in trouble if we get caught and you're with me." We started to walk back to my room.
"So why won't you get in trouble? Are you a prefect or something?" He shrugged his shoulders.
"Something like that." I smiled at him. I knew he was keeping something from me but who was I to question him. After all he was helping me out. We got to my room and I undid the lock. I walked in my room and took off his jumper and held it out in my hand for him to take.
"You can have it." I smiled at him.
"Oh thanks, and thanks for walking me back to my room." He winked at me.
"It's no problem. Anyway I better get going. I might see you tomorrow?" It sounded like a question.
"Yeah, I guess so." I was biting the side of my bottom lip and he gave me a small smile. He then walked away out of my room. I fell back onto my bed. I don't think I had butterflies in my stomach I think they were full on birds. I think I really did fancy this guy. I took off my wet clothes and dried my body with a towel. I then slipped on my cosy pyjamas and locked my door. When I climbed into I looked at the light and said the spell in my head. The lights then flicked off and I lay wrapping myself in my new covers and went to sleep.
