[ CHAPTER TWELVE ]
THE STUDENTS WERE ALL HOLDING DIFFERENT MAGAZINES, eyeing them in interest. One of Mia that read PRINCESS IN LOVE? and underneath it, it read REVEALS ALL in smaller letters than the two pictures that grandma shows us Princess "Mia" Thermopolis turned up the heat over the weekend at a local school party at Baker Beach [pg.48]]
On the other hand, my magazine was much more calm. PRINCESS CARES FOR ANIMAL LIFE! was in bold letters in the center and underneath it read REVEALS HER PLAN ON HOW TO HELP and underneath it read Princess "Mary" Thermopolis helped the Sea Otters at Grove High School 's Local Show, Shut Up and Listen [pg.15 |
"It's Mia's Thermopo-Lips & Care Bear Mary." Bobby called out both Mia and I walked past him in silence
Grandma had warned me earlier that I could not fight or argue with them. It would make Genovia look bad in their eyes and we did not want that. I narrowed my eyes at him and scoffed, shaking my head.
"Mia, can you autograph your picture for me? Josh did." Meredith said excitedly waving at Mia with her magazine and a marker on the other hand
"There's princess pucker up." Lilly said we passed her but I didn't even know that it was her until I looked down at her as she did a backbend stretch
"Lilly!" I groaned in annoyance as her words made Mia run up the stairs just as the bell rang and I chased her up the stairs

Classes were over and it was now lunch time so Mia and I walked past the students who were passing us in the basketball court that was now a tennis court. We could tell that Lilly was there as we walked further a head. As we neared her, Mia eyed me nervously before looking at our dark haired best friend.
"Lilly?" Mia called to our best friend in a pleading tone who looked at her before sighing, shaking her head
"Can I talk to you for a minute, please?" Mia asked her in a begging tone as Lilly stood up and started to walk a few feet away
"Lilly, can I just talk to you for a minute, alone, please?" Mia asked Lilly and I nodded my head and started to walk away, heading towards the bleachers
"Hey, pretty girl." I heard Jeremiah greet me in the doorway of the gated door and walk towards the bleachers
"Hey, Jeremiah." I greeted Jeremiah as I climbed all the way to the top of the bleachers and rested my back on cool metal
"What's wrong?" Jeremiah asked me in concern as he sat down next to me, holding my hand and I leaned against him
"I promised my grandma that I would not fight or argue with the students for Mia. I do not know what to do Jeremiah If I fight, I make Genovia look bad and if I do not, Mia is going to get teased a lot." I did my best to explain the situation to my boyfriend as I closed me eyes
"You promised you grandmother, I did not." Jeremiah told me with a smile as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder and I opened my eyes
"You're too good for me, you know that right?" I asked Jeremiah with a smile on my lips as he looked down at me
"Oh, I so know it." Jeremiah said to me quietly with a smile on his face and I gave him a kiss on the lips and he kissed me back
"I think they're making up." Jeremiah informed me he nodded his head to the direction of where Lilly and Mia and I turned my head to see them talking to each other
"They are." I confirmed his idea as I watched Lilly sit down besides Mia and they were talking before they hugged each other
"Mia gave up being princess, so the next in line would be me." I confided to Jeremiah quietly and he looked down at me, widening his eyes
"So i'm dating a princess who is going to be the future Queen of Genovia?" Jeremiah asked me and I laughed shakily, nodding my head
"Yup, but I prefer to be princess, but if I were to become Queen, I would want to rule me besides Mia. She's the head, and i'm the heart." I reminded my boyfriend with a small smile as I leaned closer to him, hugging him

It was currently gym class which meant that we were at the baseball field at the moment. I was at first base while Lilly was in second base. Mr. O'Connell was behind me, ready to help when I called him and Jeremiah was in the left field. I was scared for Mia and myself though, she wasn't the umpire , or a pitcher. In fact, she was the batter.
I sighed as I shifted foot to foot, watching as Korry threw the baseball towards Mia. I watched as my sister did her best to swing the bat but still missed. Melissa, who was the umpire, caught the ball before throwing it back to Korry.
"Come on, let's move it in. Lets go." Josh said ushering to the people who were in the outer field and they did exactly that, they moved a few feet forward
"Bobby Bad, hang up the phone!" Coach Harbula exclaimed to Bobby who was on the phone but I wasn't close enough to know who he was talking to
Bobby ignored Coach Harbula and continued to talk on the phone, before ending the call. I looked around my surroundings and took a deep breath. I looked towards my sister and saw her talking to Coach Harbula before looking behind me.
"Mr.O'Connell." I called out to Mr. O'Connell who stood straighter and walked towards me, confusion etching his face
"Yes, Mary?" Mr.O'Connell asked me in a concern voice as he walked forward to stand next to me and looked down on me
"You are an okay coach, a good teacher, and an amazing man. I'm really happy that you do not have piercings, tattoos, or hair plugs. You're a gentleman. I think you can make my mom a very happy , happy woman, and I hope she makes you a happy man." I told my teacher as I looked up to him and he looked down at me
"Thank you, Mary, I promise to make your mom a very happy woman." Mr.O'Connell promised me and I smiled knowing that he would keep it
"That's all right, that's ok, you're gonna hit it anyway, go, Lions!" The cheerleaders who were on the grass to the side cheered
Another ball was thrown and she managed to struck it, the only problem? It was low, so low that it ended up rolling to where the cheerleaders stood and screamed in fright. Mr. O'Connell glanced at them before walking back to his original spot behind me.
"Come on, it's a ball, not a snake, back in formation." Ms. Gupta chided to the cheerleaders, annoyance laced in her tone as the cheerleaders jumped back
"Sorry." I heard Mia apologize to the sheepishly cheerleaders and I shook my head at her antics, amused
"Foul ball, it's all right. You got a piece of it. It's ok, just focus." Coach Harbula tried to comfort Mia but due to Josh laughing along with his buddies, it didn't really work
"Come on Mia, it's just a game." Mr. O'Connell loudly told Mia so that she could hear him over the cheerleader's cheers as Mia bit her lip, playing around with the bat
"Hey Mia, would you rather hit a beach ball?" Eric asked her in a teasing tone but I couldn't even hit him if I tried since I was far away from him
"Order me pizza, pepperoni." Josh ordered Bobby who was on the phone once again, laughing with him
I could see that Mia was embarrassed on what was going on so she stood tall and leaned down a bit. When Korry threw the ball towards her once more, she struck the baseball hard. I widen my eyes when I saw that she had injured someone though. That someone being Josh, the same Josh who made fun of her. He was now clutching his stomach as he howled in pain while kneeling on the grass.
"Run, Forrest, run!" I shouted to my older twin sister loudly making her nod her head and start running as fast as she could
"I gotta go. Dude, get up. What are you doing?" I heard Bobby ask Josh, his voice laced in annoyance as Mia passed him and Lilly started to run with Mia hot on her heels
"All the way, Mia!" I shouted to Mia excitedly jumping up and down in excitement for Mia who jumped over Josh who cowered and rolled himself into an armadillo move
"Hi, Josh." I heard Lana greet Josh mockingly with a wave as Josh looked at her direction and I groaned when I noticed that Josh had the strength to reach for the baseball that was a few feet away from him
"Come on, girl." I heard Coach Harbula encourage Mia who was so close to the baseball but before she could do anything, it was caught by Melissa
I watched with narrowed eyes as Mia slid and touch the base before Melissa could call her out. I cheered in excitement with Mr. O'Connell, both happy that Mia won for the first time. I was more excited that she had injured Josh though.
"Safe, and you passed." I heard Coach Hurbula announce to Mia who was still on the ground, panting and sweating
"Mia! Mia, you did it! You did it!" I cheered for my sister excitedly as I ran to her and slid, throwing myself besides her

"Are you ever going to talk to Mia?" I asked my best friend quietly as I sat down besides him on his couch
"Soon, Doc want me to take care of her so I think later today." Michael informed as I nodded, clutching the pillow that belonged to the couch tightly in my arms
"You're going to talk to her, you know her, you cannot stop talking to her, or even staring at her." I reminded Michael as I lifted my head to stare at him
"It's just, it's complicated, I really do like her, it's complicated. She hurt Lilly, my sister and I know I say that I don't like her, but she's my sister. She doesn't even hang out with you anymore one-on-one. She doesn't even talk to Jeremiah anymore, or laugh at his tricks like we do." Michael informed me and I knew that he was speaking the truth, but I didn't want to believe it

I sighed in relief as my body relaxed itself since we were doing nothing. We were currently re-watching Shrek but in the beginning. At the moment, Lord Farquaad was integrating The Gingerbread Man in the kitchen.
"Does this really work?" Michael asked me curiously as he turned to face me and I smiled at the sight of him
"Well, duh. Look at this beauty, how do you think I have it?" I asked my best friend waving at my face as I wore a homemade mask along with him
"Natural sleep." Michael guessed with an arched eyebrow at me and I nodded my head sharply at him
"Good answer." I say cheekily to Michael who shook his head at me and leaned back on the cushion to continue to watch the movie

"Stop the bovine massacre. Sign up now and save a cow. Vegetarians have a rights to a special! Make Grove High School more tofu friendly!" Lilly was chanting from the middle of the quad area as I sat down to Jeremiah
I saw Lilly point to Mia where Jeremiah and I were resting and she nodded her head firmly. I smiled when I noticed that Mia was wearing her hat once more. I knew that Mia had heard her words due to her frowning before smiling in bravery.
"She's wearing that dorky hat again." I heard Fontana say Lana making Jeremiah look up from his laptop
"Hey, you want to see a trick?" Jeremiah asked Mia as she sat down besides me, leaving me between the both of them
"Not right now." Mia said to him as she started to lick her ice-cream and sighed quietly looking around us
"What are you doing? Are you writing a story or...?" Mia started to say Jeremiah but trailed off in the end unknowingly
"My portfolios increased by 30% since last quarter..." Jeremiah informed my sister on what he was doing before he got interrupted
"Look what we have, the perfect cool kid and nerd couple, Rosemarie & Jeremiah, and cool kid's third wheeling sister, Mia." Lana said to us with frown on her face teasing us as she turned to face us
"Awww, Mary & Miah and Mia." Fotana and Anna crooned together in a soft tone of voice as they held their hands in a prayer
"But listen Jer, my friends and I were wondering that the sweater you're wearing was designed for you or did the knitting machine just blow up?" Lana teased Jeremiah with a smile on her lips as she focused on him
"Sunglasses, girls. Oh, it's Jeremiah's head glare." Lana joked with Fontana and Anna and I narrowed my eyes at the blonde teenager as they placed their sunglasses on
"Is one of your magic tricks your hair?" Anna asked Jeremiah as the three of them place their sunglasses to stare at us
"No, it's not like yours!" I snapped angrily at Anna, defending Jeremiah and was about to snap and go at her but Jeremiah held onto me, holding me into place
"Hey, Lana?" Mia called out towards the blonde haired teenager as she stood up, clenching her ice cream in her hand
"You know, that's such a cute cheerleading outfit. It's so clean cut. I just, I bet it goes with anything." Mia started to say to Lana who became giggling and nodded in agreement
"Of course it does ..." Lana started to agree with Mia but before she could finish, she lout a shriek of shock and anger
Mia had abruptly thrust her chocolate ice-cream covered in sprinkles to Lana's chest, destroying her cheerleading top. Lana continued to shriek as Mia started to smear the chocolate ice cream all over the top. I looked at Jeremiah in shock and he looked just as shocked as I was.
"Mia, you're sucking a freak!" Lana shouted angrily to my twin sister making me narrow my eyes at her, annoyed with her
"Yeah, I am, but you know what? Someday I might just grow out of that, but you-you will never stop being a jerk." Mia stated to Lana, standing up for herself and others for the first time
"Lana got coned!" Nelson started to chant and everyone around the quad area soon started to chant the same thing
"Lana got coned!" Lilly started to chant as well into her yellow speaker catching the attention of the people around her who started to chant the same thing
"Mia!" Lana screamed angrily at Mia and I saw that she was gritting her teeth together in anger for her
"Toodles" Mia mockingly said to Lana before walking away from her, not even daring to look back on her work making me proud of her
"Ms.Gupta, did you see what she did to me!?" Lana exclaimed to Ms.Gupta angrily and a pout was on her lips
"Oh, no, honey, I'm sorry. I was in an important meeting, send it out for dry cleaning." Ms.Gupta answered Lana as she finally turned to face her from the conversation that she was having with Coach Harbula, Mr.O'Connell and Coach Ewe

I was leaning against the lockers watching Jeremiah place the red small bucket on the small plank it was on the doorway of the classroom's doorway. I hoped that Lana would come out first and not another student. I watched the hallway and sighed in relief when I spotted nobody
"You're taking a chance, Jer." I said nervously to Jeremiah biting my lip anxiously as I starred at him
"It's worth it." Jeremiah said to me waving off my worries as he slowly climbed down the ladders
"I know that Jeremiah, it's just, you do not usually do pranks like I do." I reminded Jeremiah who turned to look at me
"I'm not doing this because you're ashamed of disappointing Genovia. It's time that I've stood up to Lana and her friends." Jeremiah explained to me and I nodded my head understanding what he was saying
I looked down at my wrist and quickly nudged my boyfriend to hide behind a wall. I had noticed on my watch that Lana was about to leave the classroom at the same time that she always does. I grinned at Jeremiah and jumped a bit nervous on what was going to happen.
"Make way! Ma--" Lana started to say to the people all around her but stopped when the bucket above her fell splashing her from head to toe
"Lana got wet! Lana got wet!" Nelson started to chant loudly in the hallway causing everyone else around him to chant it as well
