VALAENA VELARYON, first-born daughter of Maelys Velaryon, Lord of the Tides and Master of Driftmark, was a free spirit. House Velaryon belonged near the tides, and all her life she loved the sea and salt, the way the wind would blow through her hair and the way her fingertips touched the clouds. Courting was far from her best interests, and as she grew older she knew to fear the worst when it came to marriage.
Her father, however, was determined that his only daughter be married quickly. Despite Valaena's protests, on her eighteenth name day a great tourney is held for her hand in marriage. When Aegon Targaryen, the handsome fourth son of Prince Maekar Targaryen, accidentally wins the tourney and names her the queen of love and beauty, she has no choice but to follow him to King's Landing. Under the orders of her father, she must court Aegon and continue to keep the strong and old allegiance between the Houses Targaryen and Velaryon.
So, instead of the seawater and sun she has known all her life, Vaelana then finds herself surrounded by fire, but in a city built from dreams and dust, a third Blackfyre rebellion will rise, and when you dance with dragons, YOU MUST EXPECT TO BURN.
