this is part 2 of 'Thanksgiving in Hawaii'! - Caly <3
after Thanksgiving you and Bucky made plans to visit again for Christmas and as the day for you and Bucky to fly out there again came closer and closer until it was finally here. you and Bucky had packed the night before so you both would be ready for the flight the next day. once again y'all would be flying from the air port and not taking the jet for the same reasons as before. when you both got back from Hawaii before the base was already decked out in Christmas cheer save yours and Bucky's room, but there was a tree and decorations for you both to decorate the tree yourselves. which y'all did after y'all took a good long sleep even though you both wouldn't be here on Christmas it was still nice to have it.
when y'all woke up the next morning it was all a big rush to get ready as y'all didn't really account for the snow outside or not being able to find a taxi, but since you both couldn't get a taxi Natasha drove you both to the air port. after that whole fiasco you thanked Nat and said bye to her then y'all headed into the airport to get to the plane. you both got there just in the nick of time as the lady was about to close the door to the plane. But luckily this time you and Bucky got seats where no one would bother you or so you thought. Then a elderly lady sat down in the seat next to the isle as y'all had a window seat and poor Bucky was stuck in-between you and the elderly lady that smelled like mothballs.
Then she started talking to y'all and at this point you and Bucky were just tired, But that was the least of it, mid flight the lady fell asleep and her head fell over on Bucky's shoulder. Bucky was getting really uncomfortable so you asked one of the flight attendants if she could help, she happily agreed and she came over with a pillow for the Lady she gently woke her and kindly told her she could lean her seat back some and use a pillow that they have for the guest's. you were very grateful that the flight attendant was able to help with the problem and that the rest of the flight was pretty calm and peaceful.
When the plane landed and you both grabbed your luggage from baggage claim and headed to the doors of the air port. This time you and Bucky would be taking a cab for the air port to the house as Steve, Kono, Danny and Chin Ho were busy with a case and you really didn't want to bother them with that so getting a taxi it was, that or walking if there was no taxi's available. Luckily thought the latter would not happen as y'all managed to get a taxi. After telling the driver the directions and leaving the air port parking lot you showed Bucky some of the places along the way where you used to surf.
"but I still kind of don't know what surfing is" Bucky said Looking out the car window as Y'all went passed the beach. "even though you sort of described it to me"
"yeah and you know what?" you said looking at Bucky with a cocked eyebrow. He gave you his signature 'do I want to know' face as he waited for you to continue. "I am going to be teaching you how to surf this trip" you had so much confidence in your voice it was almost amusing to Bucky. If he wasn't scared.

When you both arrived at the house and paid the taxi driver you headed up to the door, Steve said that the spare key was above the porch light, and well, that happened to be pretty high up. When Bucky finally got over there with the luggage he grabbed one of the porch chairs and stood on it to get the key, after he managed to get it down and he handed you the key, you unlocked the door and headed inside with you luggage bag while Bucky brought his in himself. The house was at least decorated for Christmas and the trees lights were turned on along with the tree being decorated.
After you and Bucky took the bags to the room you and him would be staying in you went down to the shed to look and see if your old surf boards were still in there and sure enough the were. You pulled them out and got them ready to be used, cause you'd be damned if Bucky didn't at least try to surf. Bucky watched you pull out the surf boards from the bedroom window, then he looked down at the velvet box in his hand. With a sigh he stashed it in the nightstand drawer where you wouldn't find it and he headed outside to see what you were working on.

After you had gotten the boards ready and changed into your swim suit and got Bucky to as well you headed out on the water to show Bucky how to float on the board which wasn't the hardest part, and he had it down on the first try same as paddling. You both paddled farther out from shore, but not to far only far enough to catch a wave.
(fun little intermission here, the only things I know about surfing is from the movies 'Soul Surfer' and 'Blue Crush 1 & 2' xD just calling myself out here)
You waited and watched for the perfect wave to come around and when one finally did you took it. You hadn't been able to surf in awhile so you a little rusty at it and when you wiped out just before you went under the water you heard Bucky laugh. So for him laughing at you, you decided to prank him by undoing your leg rope under the water. Then you swam under Bucky's board without him noticing and flipped him over so he fell off. When you surfaced you could not stop laughing and eventually Bucky joined you in laughter.
After a few more hours of trying to teach Bucky how to surf and him getting the hang of it after about two minutes of you explaining it to him, but he didn't tell you that as he loved seeing you talk about something you love and trying to explain it to him. After a bit you both had to head back in as your brother had finally got back and he brought company and by company I mean he brought Chin Ho, Kono, and Danny with him.
You and Bucky paddled back to shore, but some how it turned into a race to see whom would get there first. When that race was won by you Bucky challenged you to a race up to the house while carrying the boards. When you started the race Bucky tried to cheat by throwing sand at you while run, which almost worked as you were screaming with laughter while trying to evade the flying sand.
When you finally reached the back porch you were celebrating as you had won cause Bucky was throwing sand instead of trying to win fare. You ran up on the porch and dropped your surfboard as you did a celebratory dance and in the process forgetting that your brother and friends where inside. Bucky ran up on the porch just after you. Bucky set his board down next to yours and waited for you to stop gloating about beating him in a race by doing a victory dance.
Then Bucky looked above you and for some bizarre reason there was mistletoe hanging above you, he was confused at first knowing your brother most likely didn't put that up. Then he got a idea on how to stop your gloating. He gently grabbed your chin and placed a soft yet sweet kiss on your lips. After the kiss ended you heard someone open the sliding glass door and clear their throat, you and Bucky slowly turned your heads to see your brother standing there with his arms crossed glairing at Bucky.
"okay who's wise idea was it to put up mistletoe?" Steve asked turning around to talk to Danny, Kono and Chin Ho whom had all seen you and Bucky kiss. You and Bucky shared a look and grabbed the towels you had brought out before you both had headed down to the shore. After drying off you and Bucky headed inside and into y'alls room to change out of your swim suits and into regular clothes. When you both came out of the room you walked over to Kono knowing she woud know what the deal was with the mistletoe.
"why was there mistletoe on the back porch and why did Steve act like he didn't know it was there?" you asked her with a suspicious look on your face.
"me, Chin Ho and Danny helped Steve decorate and I was the one who put up the mistletoe knowing you and Bucky would be visiting" Kono responded
"why?" you asked as it had made everything awkward.
"cause you know the tradition" she said "kiss someone under the mistletoe and you'll have ever lasting love" she jokingly batted her eyes and then laughed. You laughed along with her. Then you heard Bucky laughing, looking over you saw he was talking with your brother and Danny. Something about them laughing over what ever it was made you happy, maybe it was the fact that they were getting along in general and your brother had never liked any of the other guys you dated so it was quite the surprise.

It had been a few days since you both went surfing and now it was Christmas eve, the sun was setting outside and Bucky had asked you to take a walk along the beach with him and you agreed as it sounded like it would be fun. You left your shoes back at the house as it was easier for you to walk bare foot. The wind was lightly blowing where you and Bucky stopped to watch the sun set and the smell of the ocean was soothing. You where holding Bucky's hand when he all of a sudden let go of your hand.
You looked over to see what he was doing and as he was down on one knee with a velvet box in his hands. Your hands flew to your mouth as tears welled up in your eyes.
"Y/n we have been together for 4 years now and I can't imagine my self with anyone else but you, you have been there for me whenever I needed someone to talk to and you were there when I needed you the most and I want to be there for you as well, I want to wake up next to you for the rest of my life and to grow old together. So will you marry me?" he asked, your heart was pounding in your chest as you nodded your head as you were at a loss for words.
Bucky stood up and took the ring out of the box to put it on your finger, you couldn't hold back the tears anymore as Bucky put the ring on your finger after you pulled him into a sweet yet passionate kiss that made it seem like it was just you and Bucky in the world and no one else. When you broke apart Bucky held you in his arms, you didn't want this moment to end but sadly it had to as you brother and everyone else would be wondering where you both were.
On the walk back you finally looked at the ring, it was simple yet still beautiful. It was still trying to all sink in, you were now engaged to Bucky and it was hard to believe. You felt as if any moment the ring, Bucky and all of this would just disappear and you would wake you would wake up and it all just be a dream.
When you and Bucky got back the others were waiting for you both and as soon as they saw the smile on y'alls face they started celebrating. Well it was more of Chin Ho and Danny congratulating Bucky and Kono asking you a million questions and Steve, well, he was happy for you cause he knew Bucky was a good guy. But that still wouldn't stop him from coming over to New York and beating the shit out of Bucky if he ever hurt you in anyway.
