Grace adjusted her dress as she walked into the cafe, it had been 2 weeks since she last spoke to John and 2 months since she last spoke to Randy
John texted her last night and told her to meet him at this very cafe, he said he wanted to talk about what happened. She didn't reply last night and she only came to the cafe as a last minute decision
She walked over to where she saw John sitting and sat down, looking at him
"I've been an asshole." He admitted a minute after she sat down
She didn't say anything, just sat and stared at him
"I don't want you to hate me." He continued
"I don't," she replied truthfully
"I've just been seeing Randy's perspective more than I allowed myself to see yours," he admitted
"And that was the problem. You didn't see the situation from my perspective at all. It was always just Randy's side," she explained
"I guess I got sick of it. It's like there's a situation that negatively affects both of us but as soon as Randy's heart breaks a little, you're jumping over me to defend him and that hurts cuz you're supposed to be my best friend to. We've been closer than you and Randy," she spoke, nothing but facts
"It's always been like this and it really hurts that you don't notice that I needed you. When you go through something that negatively affects you, you just need to know that you're best friend is there for you, but I swear to god you're happy that Randy and I broke up," she said
"How can you say that?" He asked in actual disbelief
"Cuz you always rub my face in it and remind me that I broke Randy's heart, you always remind me that I fucked up, always. It's like you don't care about my feelings, you just care that I know that Randy's hurt," she told him, watching his facial expression
"I didn't mean to make you feel that way," he admitted
"I guess I just caught up, trying not to take sides, that I did end up taking sides," he admitted and Grace just looked away
"I'm sorry," he finished
"So that's it? You think you're just gonna tell me you're sorry with some half baked apology and just expect me to forgive you?" She asked surprised
"Grace, I'm so sorry," he said, taking her hands
"I love you, you know that, ultimately you're my best friend and I've been a jackass and an inconsiderate jerk and I don't deserve you, I'm so sorry," he admitted and she smiled
"I forgave you the day I told you to leave John," she admitted, watching fondly as the biggest smile overtook his face
"You poopy idiot!" John called, playfully swatting her arm, making her laugh
"Have you talked to him since?" John asked, thanking the waitress when se set their plates down and Grace made a face
"Not since I broke his heart," she said with a bitter smile
"Grace," John said in a sigh
"I need to talk to him as soon as possible though. I wanna marry him. Like I thought about it and I was just scared of his love, and that sounds so stupid to me." She admitted
"Like here's this guy who's the most amazing man in the entire world, he smiles and my heart explodes, he tells me he wants to spend forever with me and what do I do? I shy away from him like a coward," she said, rolling her eyes
"Does that sound good to you? Cuz I'm actually a fucking idiot," she said
"You're not an idiot, shut up." John reprimanded
"Look, I think once you talk to Randy and tell him what you told me, I know it's gonna be better. For the both of you." He said putting emphasis on the last statement
"I'll try to catch him tonight," she said
"And you're not an idiot," John said
"You're a dork." He continued and Grace laughed
"Whatever happens, I'm gonna be here for you, and not let you down, you're my best friend and that's a promise." John said and Grace hugged him over the table
After that, Grace was gonna meet Nattie for dinner and she saw Randy come out from the gym. She took a deep breath and went over, grabbing his arm and he flinched at the sudden contact and he glared at the person who grabbed it, his eyes softening when he saw who it was
"Hey Rand," she greeted and he didn't reply, just stared at her. As much as he tried to hate her, those big brown eyes got him every time.
"I uh, I feel like I owe you alot of explanations, can we talk?" She asked
Randy tried to maintain his tough exterior but at her pout he sighed and cracked
"I'm busy tonight but I'll text you or something and we'll talk," he said and she nodded, it was better than nothing after all.
Randy nodded to her and left for his hotel room while she headed out to meet Nat.
Randy huffed and laid on his bed and sighed, he wasn't actually busy, he had no intention of talking to Grace again but after what just happened, it would actually be impossible to avoid her. He didn't know what this talk would be about or what would become of it and here he was, left to anticipate by himself
