"This is fucking stupid, who in the hell would have these many cat, it's like that one place with all the pidgins." Hank groaned for the millionth time today.
I sighed in annoyance.
"As much as I agree with you, can you please stop complaining and help"
"Y/n, I'm an old man, which gives me the right to complain about anything. I've lived long enough for the right to complain" he says sarcastically.
I let out a little laugh and roll my eyes.
"Whateveeerrr"
He chuckles, looking through some old dusty books.
"Hey where did Connor go?" I ask, right then a there Connor runs out the door.
I look back at Hank and he shrugs.
"I'll catch up" He day nonchalant.
I huff and jog out the door and try to follow Connor.
"Connor! Where the hell did you go!" I shout.
I stoped running to catch my breath.
"Connor!"
I walk around the building, before I get to rooms without windows.
I look around and see a flashlight conventionally placed on a broken table.
I turn it on and nothing happens. I shake it a few times and hit it with the palm of my hand.
Then a stream of light come from the object.
I point it around, I see broken tables and furniture and cobwebs.
With every step forward I took made the floor board Creek.
I could hear my heart beat pound in my ears.
I hear a small creek and I stop in my tracks.
After standing there for about 20 seconds, I come to the conclusion that I'm just paranoid.
I look one more time before I hear a breath behind me.
I turn around and see nothing.
I decide to leave as soon as I can because I could feel myself become more mental unstable by the minute.
My stress levels were high and my anxiety levels were through the roof.
I walk to the door when a pair of arms grabs me from behind me.

"Where did they go?" I ask out loud.
Then I hear a thud and a loud scream.
It was a female scream, which means....
"Y/n." I say softly and run down the hall.
I see the deviant having an arm around y/n neck and has a had y/n pistol to her head.
"Don't move, or I'll shoot"
She tried to move his arm with hers.
"Stop, there is no need to shoot anyone. We just want to talk" making sure y/n was safe was the most important thing to me at the moment.
"Back up" the deviant growled.
I take a few slow, steps back.
"Okay, now let her go" I say.
"You know, I don't think I will, because the one thing keeping you from arresting me is," he stops and rubs y/n cheek with his thumb.
She grunts trying to move.
Software instability
Mission: protect y/n
"This fragile, delicate girl" he finished.
"Let. Her. Go." I felt myself getting angry and angrier with every word he spoke.
"Ah-ah-ah I think you forget" he says click safety off the gun and repositions it on her head.
"I call the shots."
She whimpers slightly, she was losing air slowly.
I felt the urgency in this situation rise.
Y/n is mouthing words to me, I make out the word.
"Distract"
"Look, I know it's hard but you have to trust me, we aren't going to hurt you, we want to help you as best we can. So please, put her down, let us help you." I say.
He hesitates and his grip on y/n slips.
Y/n takes this opportunity to break from the deviants grasp and takes a broken chair leg and hit the deviant across the head.
She land on the floor and coughs trying to fill her lungs with air.
I quickly grab her and push her to the side so that if the deviant shoots she wouldn't be harmed.
The deviant shoots but misses. I quickly grab the pistol from my back pocket and and click safety off.
"Put the gun down" I say.
"Why should I? Your just gonna kill me?"
"Because I want to help you."
He puts his gun down and I shoot.
I don't look, I just shoot.
The deviant looks shocked and falls on its knees.
"I-I will be b-back Connor" he says.
I walk up to him.
"And I'll be ready when you do" I say taking my foot and kick him onto his back.
He powers off.
I hear a small thump.
I turn to see y/n had slid from leaning on the wall.
Her hands were hiding her face as she sat there.
I move over to her.
"It's alright y/n, you're safe... I promise" I say.
She pulls me into a hug and shakes.
I return immediately, i play with her hair in an attempt to make her feel better.
I felt awful that she had to deal with that.
Then she started crying, every was probably settling on her.
"I-I'm s-s-sorry I did-dn't help" she stammers.
"Shh, no need to apologize" I say softly.
I do and quick scan to make sure she is okay health wise.
"Can you walk?" I ask.
She tries to stand but almost falls over, I catch her and pick her up bridal style.
She wrapped her arms around my neck. After about 2 minutes of walking, she cuddles into my chest.

"Oh my god son, I was so wor-" Hank started.
"Wait y/n?!" He says running over to me.
"Is she okay"
"Yeah, she will be, she's in an emotional shock."

I put her under the covers.
"Goodnight y/n"
I go to walk out then I feel a slight tug on my sleeve.
"Stay, please?" She says making it sound like a question.
I sigh and lay down on the bed with her.
She cuddles into my chest.
I chuckle slightly.
This girl is going to be the death of me.
