Robin’s point of view
Chapter 6:
I drove to my house and when we got there I opened my door and got out the car and she unsteadily got out as well and stood at the door until I opened it. When we got into the house I pointed her to the guest room and then went into my own room to sleep today off but as soon as I laid down Hazel into my room and crawled into my bed.
I asked "Why are you in here?!"
She ignored me and continued to squirm in my bed until I couldn’t take it anymore and I pushed her out my bed and onto the floor.
She yelled "What’s wrong with you?!"
I replied "I could say the same thing for you!"
"What did I do?!"
"This is my room!"
"When did I get in here?"
"You just walked in here but that’s beside the point, why are you in here?!"
"It’s probably because I can’t sleep without…"
"Without what?"
"My teddy bear Snickers"
"Really a teddy bear"
"My…my dad gave it to me"
She stared at me and then got up to go into the other room. I waited for about two minutes and then went to check on her. When I got into the room she was watching television and squeezing her pillow.
I asked "Why won’t you sleep?"
She looked at me "I told you, no Snickers no sleep"
I sighed and sat down next to her to watch TV but after at least an hour I dozed off and fell asleep. I woke up to find Hazel sleep on my legs. I got up and then picked her up and placed her in the bed. It was three o’ clock in the morning and I had nothing to do so I sat down and began reading a book from the shelf in my study but the book caught my eye because it looked ancient, almost as old as I was. I skimmed through it and found a picture of Hazel’s father and a girl standing on piles and piles of dead vampires. I closed the book and turned to see Hazel rubbing her eyes.
"When’d you get in here?" I asked stuffing the book behind me.
She answered "Just now"
"I’m sleepy excuse me"
I pushed past her and went into the bathroom where I locked the door and slid down it. I looked up to see Hazel with her arms crossed and her tapping her foot.
I stuttered "How…How did you get in here?"
She pointed "The door"
"When I mean?"
"Before you locked it…I thought you knew"
"I…I didn’t see you"
"I just walked through it by the way your hair is completely silver"
I touched my hair and pulled it forward so I could see it and noticed it did change colors and it was still changing. I unlocked the door and then pushed her out. When I closed the door she was still there so I leaned on it and began talking to her.
I leaned "Why are you still there?"
She answered "Because it’s a free country and I can"
"Please go away"
"Why can’t stand here?"
"It’s just for a moment"
She walked away and after a couple of minutes my hair began to change back to its original color. I walked out the bathroom and into the living room where Hazel was fiddling with her fingers.
I asked "What are you doing?"
"Obviously nothing" she said turning to me "Or maybe I am"
"Look sorry for that it was confidential"
"I drained your power didn’t I?"
"How did you…know that?"
"I read your mind"
I stared at her as she continued to fiddle with her fingers like nothing had happened but I knew she knew that this matter was serious.
I shook my head "Impossible only very skilled vampires can do that…a novice couldn’t possibly…"
She interrupted "I’m not a novice"
"What do you mean?"
"You said it yourself I fought alongside my dad so of course this would be child play for me"
"But that’s your vampire side not the human you"
"How do you know the vampire me isn’t out?"
Hazel’s eyes were a blood thirsty crimson red and they pierced the skin like a laser. I glimpsed out the corner of my eyes and noticed her fangs were longer than the usual length of a normal vampire. I went to touch her shoulder but she grabbed my arm and nearly snapped it off.
I twitched "Ow Hazel that hurts"
She let go "Oh sorry it was reflexes"
Hazel got up and left the room and I stood there unsure of what I should do and then I thought of the only possible thing for a matter like this I had to call the vampire counsel. When I got off the phone I walked into the guest room where Hazel was sitting on the bed.
I walked towards her "I’m sorry"
She hissed "Wh…"
Before she could finish three vampires latched onto her and carried her out and I followed. When we got to the counsel it was exactly as I remembered one hundred years ago, cold and uneasy. They carried her into the main and then led her down the stairs and finally she was taken into the courtroom.
The head elder spoke "Today is the day we finally meet the eldest daughter of the strongest vampire in history"
She whispered "Second eldest"
"What?"
"Nothing I just would like to know why I am here?"
"You were reported?"
"By who?"
"Valor Ulrik"
"But I didn’t do anything!"
"Ah on the contrary you did we have reports that you killed Luka"
"He had it coming"
"Now so do you…in a week you will be prosecuted"
When they dragged her out she looked at me with pure hatred in her eyes. I walked towards the head elder and bowed.
I sighed "Please Vladimir spare her"
Vladimir breathed heavily "Rules are rules"
"If I would’ve known you were going to kill her I wouldn’t have brought her here"
Hazel busted into the room with blood all over her body and her hands in broken handcuffs.
"This place…it’s the vampire realm isn’t it…I don’t belong here!"
"I’m sorry but your powers they were out of control"
"Did I hurt you?!"
"No but…"
"Then they weren’t out of control"
"I’m sorry"
"Don’t be sorry Valor that’s a human feature and your far from human"
Two more vampires came in and held Hazel down and then dragged her out. I looked at Vladimir but he seemed uninterested in me.
I yelled "She will kill anyone who get’s in her way!"
Vladimir sighed "I know you were told to protect her but she is destined to die"
"She isn’t but she is dangerous if you just…"
He stood "No one is more dangerous than us now go back to the human world because your services here are done"
"I refuse"
"Then my knights will escort you there"
"So be it"
Two vampires emerged from the sides of the walls and he recognized them both one was named Ardeli and the other was his own brother Ysir.
Ysir bowed "Hello brother"
I sucked my teeth "Cut the crap Ysir"
"Sorry brother but work is work it’s nothing personal"
He grabbed my left arm and Ardeli grabbed my right arm. They led me out and took me to the portal and threw me in. when the portal stopped I was in my house and the opening was gone. I got up and went to my car and drove to Hazel’s house where I found her mom laid out on the porch.
I tapped her "Mrs. Timothy are you okay?"
She slurred "I’m fine, where’s mydaughter?"
"I don’t know?"
"You lost my little girl"
"Excuse me?"
"I said you lost my little girl?!"
"Speaking of which do you know where Suzanne is?"
"I don’t give a damn about her!"
I couldn’t believe my ears she had actually disowned her own daughter. I looked at her with disgust in my eyes and walked over to my car and drove away. While I was driving someone jumped in front of my car and I swerved so much that I fell off the road, all I remember was someone standing in front of me. When I woke up I was in a very nice looking room, it was bright colored and the furniture was brand new. I looked around until I found a photo of some human girl and Ysir. I picked up the picture and then saw in the background a little girl. When I looked up I heard something and turned around to see a girl who looked like an older version of the little girl.
She smiled "That picture is the only picture left of my parents"
I asked "Did you know your dad?"
"You mean his secret, yeah I know it"
"He didn’t hide it from you?"
"He couldn’t I walked in on him dismembering my mother"
I stared at her and she knew that I felt sorry for her I mean who wouldn’t; she was traumatized of vampires because her father killed her mother.
I sighed "Well your father is my brother so I am a vampire like him"
She didn’t move "Which is why I stopped you…I need you to help me save my dad"
