Since he senses things around him by noise, scent and heat energy that radiates off of said object, it's difficult for him to move around when in the rain. His senses has been heightened, so the sound and smell of rain overwhelms him. If he so happens to get stuck in the rain, he usually just stays in one spot; unless he's out of the forest and is near normal humans (which is unlikely).
