**** Thank you guys for your support last chapter. Trust me I am not discouraged over those few comments, but I still felt like I needed to address it. Not just for them, but for all of us as a reminder of our beauty.

AMB's night-clothes and what Amb thinks Aug is doing in m/m****

AMBER P.O.V. –

“What are you doing here?” I arrived to see Nate standing outside my office door.

“I am going to come to this office every single day, until you accept my offer.”

“Not happening.” I tried to go in my office and lock the door but he came in.

“Don’t make me call security.”

He sat down in one of the leather chairs across from my desk.

“You do know my father is the head of this department. You can’t kick me out.”

That was the thing about Nate. He came from a politically powerful family. His grand-father was the first black governor of Georgia. His mother was on the Georgia Supreme Court, and he was right, his father was the head Attorney in our department.

“Nate, if you care about your life I suggest you leave.” I looked nervously at the clock on my wall, knowing August would be coming in at any moment.

He didn’t respond he just crossed his legs men-style and checked his phone. “Get settled we have some things to discuss.”

“No we don’t. You need to leave. Now!” I pointed to the door.

He laughed. “Is that your authoritative voice?”

“Nate, my boyfriend works here. If he comes in and sees you in this office it is not going to end well for either of us.”

“Is he an attorney? What division does he work in? Gangs or Narcotics?” He looked up at me.

“It doesn’t matter what division he works in. Just know he isn’t as tactful as me.”

“No man walking this earth scares me. Especially if he’s from Georgia. My family will end his entire career if steps out of line.”

“Oh my God.” I plopped down in my chair and put my head in my hands.

“Nate if I entertain your conversation please just go.”

“I don’t want you to entertain conversation; I want you to accept my offer.”

“I told you I’m moving at the end of July.”

“To where?”

“It doesn’t matter.”

“Okay, I’ll put it like this. You be my campaign manager I’l pay you a half a million dollars as your salary, on top of all the benefits such as healthcare. In addition, I’ll reimburse you for any travel.”

That was sounding like a heck of a good offer, but August was more important than money to me.

“Why don’t you get Omari, he worked on Senator Carter’s campaign in New York.”

“I don’t want Omari. I need a woman to help me get the women’s vote.”

“So you’re using me to expand your voter base.”

“It’s like killing two birds with one stone. You’re competent for the job and you can get women to like me. They see you’re working on my campaign, they’ll automatically give me the vote.”

He was so fucking arrogant it was ridiculous.

“It’s a reason women don’t like you Nate. You’re an arrogant asshole. You think just because you have money and your family has power you can get people to do anything you want. And while it might impress some women, it doesn’t impress me. So if security is too afraid to come and get you, I don’t think the Georgia Police Department will when I tell them you’re harassing me. ”

“I’m not harassing you, I’m trying to engage in a conversation.”

“They won’t know that when I call and complain.” I picked up the phone.

He snarled at me, and left out.

“Whew.” I laid back in my chair relieved and like clock work, August came in.

“Hey baby.”

“Hey.” He came over and pecked my lips. He sat on the edge of my desk.

“What’s up?” He looked like he wanted to tell me something.

“My frat brothas been saying I’ve been neglecting them ever since I started working and met you. And we do only have about a month and a half left before some of us graduate. So I’mma kick it with them tonight.”

“Of course babe. That’s fine.”

“And since we on our whole honesty thing, I’mma keep it real about where we gon be at.”

I looked at him nervous. “Okay.”

“We going to Follies.”

I swallowed hard. “Uh…the strip club?”

“It’s only one Follies baby.” He laughed.

He must’ve saw the distressed look on my face.

“If you don’t want me to go, I’ll sit this one out.”

“No baby, I never want to stop you from hanging with your friends.”

“You sure?”

“Uh yeah babe. Go. Have fun.”

I was really thinking NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! But I didn’t want to stop him from hanging with his friends, who he hadn’t already saw in a long time.

“Just please don’t do no private room stuff. I heard they give blow jobs in there.”

He laughed, “I’m just going to chill baby. Nothing else. If I need that, I know where to go.”

I sighed loudly. “I trust you.”

“You can come if you want?”

“No thank you. I’ll leave that to you heathens.”

“Well let this heathen get to work.” He chuckled and got the garbage from under my desk.

“Love you.” He kissed my lips when he got done.

“Love you too.”

“I’ll call you later.” He said then left out.

LATER ON THAT NIGHT

“Tanya he’s in a private room with some stripper I know it. I can feeeeelllllll it.” I told Tanya in the phone.

“Amb, would you calm down.” She laughed.

“It’s 12’oclock.”

“Amber they probably ain’t even left yet. 12 o’clock means the night is just getting started.”

“The only thing he’s sent me all tonight was an emoji with the heart shaped eyes. An emoji Tanya. Not even hi. Bye. K.  All of which I hate. A freaking Emoji. What does that mean?”

“He’s cheating girl. With a big ol booty stripper. ” She said dramatically.

“Really?” I said shocked.

She let out a hyena laugh. “Amber no. He loves you he wouldn’t do that. He’s around you 24/7 just give him some space. He’s about to graduate. He practically neglected his friends for you, let him have fun.”

“Some stripper right now is grinding her overworked privates on my man Tanya. And her perfect breast are jiggling in his face. Tanya only my breast are supposed to be in his face. My breast are his babies, not hers!” I whined.

“I don’t want to hear that.”

“Maybe I should call him.”

“Amber don’t call that man. Leave him alone.”

“Okay, I’ll text him. What should I say?”

“Don’t text him either. Just trust him. At least he told you. Most men wouldn’t have said anything. The fact that he told you, shows that he respects you. And he even asked you could he go.”

“You’re right.”

“So what if some woman’s giving him head in a private room, give him a pass.”

“What?”

“I’m joking.” She bursted into laughter.

I heard footsteps up the stairs.

“I gotta go.” I hurriedly hung up the phone and cut off the light pretending like I was sleep.

I heard him come in the room and I assume take off everything but his boxers. He got in the bed next to me and pulled me close.

“That you babe?” I tried to sound sleepy.

“Yeah.” He smelled like he had been drinking a little.

“Why you home so early?” I turned around and kissed his lips.

“I know you ain’t really feel comfortable with me going. So I just had a couple of drinks with them at our frat house, then when they were about to leave, just came home.”

“You didn’t have to do that baby. I was fine with it.”

THANK GOD. I THOUGHT TO MYSELF.

“Aight, well I go back out then.” He got up.

“No.” I quickly grabbed him. “I mean, you’ve been drinking ya know. Stay alive. Don’t drink and drive.”

He started laughing. “I saw you turn off the light Amber. You not foolin’ me.”

Caught I just admitted it, “Okay, I wasn’t comfortable with it.”

“Why didn’t you just say that baby?”

“I know you’re young and I didn’t want to take you away from your friends.”

“Listen if its somewhere I don’t want you to go, I expect you to respect my wishes. And the same goes for you. If you not comfortable with me going somewhere, I will respect that. Aight?”

I shook my head in the affirmative.

“Now since you didn’t want me to go. You owe me my own private dance.”

He got up turned on the light, got a wad of cash out of his jeans pocket and laid back on the bed on his forearms. He put the cash on top of his ego that was covered by his red Ralph Lauren boxer-briefs.

I smiled, turned on Beyonce’s – Rocket, and showed him why he didn’t need a strip club.
