My headphones were blaring, of course, MCR, as I walked into school, Westberg High… and it was my first day of Junior year. Another year of being ignored yet bullied at the same time. I couldn’t wait, note the sarcasm.
As soon as I walked in the smell of sweaty teens and sadness washed over me. And I nearly fell as someone ran into me, “Hey there, come with me I need a little bit of help.” he smiled warmly at me, “The name’s Harrison by the way!”
“Uhh… ok…” I said, dumbly, of course, this Harrison asked for my name, “Oh, uh, erm, Max,” I’m such an idiot.
“Nice name! Alright!” he grabbed me by the hand and took off for the nearest classroom, this one happened to be the Drama club’s… “I have found an extra for the play you guys!” everyone cheered in unison.
I froze up, someone, I think his name is Preston, asked “The poor boy knew what he was getting himself into didn’t he?”
“He does now!” I rubbed my eyes and started to walk out the door.
“Wait, nooooo, we need someone! Please, please, PLEASE!” Preston got onto his knees.
“No fuck off,” I rolled my eyes and pushed the door open and left.

I plopped down next to my friends, Neil and Nikki, “Ok so, do you guys know Preston?” they both nodded, “He wanted me to join his fucking play” I bust out laughing.
“Holy shit, join!” Nikki’s eyes widened. “Think about it dude! You could get into the inner workings of the thing that holds this fucking school together, and destroy it” I looked at her, “What can say? I’m an agent of chaos,”
“I dunno Max, maybe just… I still think you should join science club with me,” Neil said, shaking his head at Nikki.
“That’s GAY!” our teal-haired friend just shouted out, causing a few people to turn their heads in out direction.
“Nikki! Shut up!” Neil looked around as people were slowly looking back to their friends and/or their food. “I’m not, and never will be, gay!”
“Stop fucking lying, you’re so gay!” I pointed at him and his face flushed, “We won’t hate you if you are, to be honest,”
“Whatever!” The bell rang and he jumped up and muttered, barely audible, “Saved by the bell”
I let my face have a small smile for about two seconds, and walked to my next class, fashionably late, as always. “Maxwell Kenaway, do you have a pass?” the teacher looked at me pointedly and I shrugged.
“No,” she spluttered for a bit before telling me to go to my seat, “kay,” she glared at me for the rest of the period.

After school I trudged back to the Theatre room. As soon as I opened the door I heard people screaming the lyrics to what I assume to be musicals. They all stop as soon as they see me though, I heard someone whisper, “Holy shit he came,”
Preston walked to me and draped his arm around my shoulders, I hate physical contact so I shoved him away, he looked a little hurt by that but brushed it off. “Welcome to Drama!” I immediately regretting this decision. “Do you guys think this is everyone that’s gonna come?” Everyone nodded.
He suddenly shouted, making me flinch, again. Goddamnit… he needs to stop scaring me! “Everyone! Let’s go to the stage, and audition!”
As soon as we got there people started going on stage and trying to impress the director. Then it was my turn. When I got up I was nervous to say the least. I’ve never sung in front of others before. A voice startled me out of my thoughts, “Name?”
“Maxwell Kenaway, the song I will be singing is ‘The Run and Go’ by 21 Pilots.” If I could sing any song it would be that one. I took a deep breath, and started.
After I finished no one reacted, and I started to walk away, knowing that this was a mistake, when suddenly I heard someone clapping, and soon everyone else joined in.
Believe it or not, that made me feel good.
