occasionally I realize how human I am
it is usually at night
when I suddenly realize that time
has slipped out of my grasp
and is running wildly around the moon
a feeling of being trapped in myself
of tacking my existence to a schedule
of tracing lines around my humanity
because the fragility of humanity
could be lovely if I made it so
but I fell into the trap.
a fear of always being late haunts me
late for what? not even I know
but time falls like water down ridges
fast in some spots, slow in others
it is a living, breathing, thing, and
it is always a bitter disappointment
to remember that my whole life
is calculated through minutes
and my death itself
will be predicted in the confinement
of life.
