Richard wasn't having the best time in the world, Wally was getting married and unfortunately he wasn't allowed to skip the bachelor party. He, Superboy, Aqualad, and some of Wally's other friends had been having a night on the town and Richard was tired. When someone suggested they go to a strip club Aqualad and Superboy decided to go home but Wally asked Richard to stay.
He couldn't say no so he ended up going to a strip club with them while using a fake ID to get inside. Once they were inside the loud music and lights overwhelmed his senses and he wanted to just walk out of the club. But he couldn't do that so he looked around as he tried to figure out how to escape, that's when he spotted the bar.
He walked over and sat down, he immediately noticed that the music wasn't as loud here, and the lights weren't as bad either. Richard quietly sighed in relief before he heard a voice, "Not interested in the show?"
Richard looked up to see a boy that looked like he was about nineteen, which would make them the same age. He had black hair and blue eyes, he wore a black button up shirt, black pants black boots, and a blue suit vest. Richard soon realized that he was actually staring at the boy and he looked away, "Not really."
The boy shrugged, "Do you want a drink?"
Richard thought for a second, "Can I just get some water?"
The boy, who he assumed was the bartender, nodded and grabbed a bottle of water before giving it to him. Richard took it, he was quiet for a minute before he spoke again, "You seem a little young to be working in a place like this."
The boy was cleaning a cup and didn't look at him, "Aren't you a little young to be here too?"
Richard froze and the bartender laughed, "It's not my job to throw people out, just give them drinks."
Richard looked shocked, "So you aren't going to tell anyone?"
The boy shrugged, "Not unless you give me a reason to."
Richard couldn't help but smile before he realized something, "Sorry, I don't know your name?"
The boy held out his hand, "Danny, and you?"
Richard shook his hand, "Richard nice to meet you Danny."
Danny smiled a little and continued cleaning the cup, "So why are you over here exactly?"
Richard looked confused, "What do you mean?"
Danny gestured to the other chairs at the bar, "Do you see anyone else sitting over here?"
Richard looked around before he looked confused again, "Why am I the only one here?"
"People are usually more focused on the half naked women dancing in a pole."
Richard shrugged, "I just wanted to get away from the music, it's a little loud."
Danny nodded, "I don't like it either, that's why I like working at the bar, I might have to deal with drunk people but it's relatively quiet."
Richard nodded, "So why are you working at a bar?"
Danny shrugged, "I needed a second job and this was the only place I could find that was hiring."
Richard looked confused, "So they hired a nineteen year old?"
Danny smirked, "I may or may not have had to lie about my age, just don't tell anyone."
Richard smiled, "As long as you don't give me a reason to."
Danny looked a little surprised before he laughed, "You're a weird guy."
Richard blinked in shocked before he smiled, "I like your laugh."
Danny blushed a little and he looked away, "I don't hear that one often."
Richard looked confused, "Why?"
Danny put the now clean glass back under the bar, "People usually save compliments for the dancers."
Richard shrugged, "I didn't really come here because of the dancers."
Danny looked confused, "Then why are you here?"
Richard sighed, "My friend is getting married so we came here for his bachelor party, I didn't want to come here but now I'm kind of glad I did."
Danny raised an eyebrow, "Why, do you like one of the dancers?"
Richard hummed, "No, but between you and me I do like the bartender."
Danny blushed once again, "Okay now I'm starting to think you somehow got drunk."
Richard smiled, "I haven't had a single drink all night, and meeting you is the best thing that's happened so far."
Danny continued to blush and he laughed a little, "Keep that up and you might be able to get the bartender's number."
Richard smiled, at that moment someone walked up to the bar and Danny walked over to them to see what they wanted. Richard was a little sad that Danny had to leave but hopefully he would be back soon, he really did like talking to him.
Danny came back a few minutes later, Richard decided to be bold and ask Danny something. "When is your shift over?"
Danny hummed, "Usually around one or two in the morning."
Richard's eyes widened, "You work that late?"
Danny shrugged, "I would get off earlier but the guy that takes over is usually pretty late."
Richard looked scandalized, "How has he not been fired?"
Danny sighed, "No clue, but it's not my call to make, and at least I get played overtime."
Richard looked away, "I guess, but didn't you say you have a second job?"
Danny nodded, "I have to be there by eight in the morning."
Richard seemed shocked, "Eight, how much sleep do you usually get?"
Danny thought for a second, "About four or five hours."
Richard stared at Danny in shock before he sighed, "Even I get more sleep then that."
Danny raised an eyebrow at him, "What do you do?"
Richard looked at him, "I'm training to become a cop, I'm going to take the test to get my badge soon."
Danny nodded, "Good luck, but something tells me you won't need it."
Richard smiled before someone stumbled over to the bar, when Richard looked he recognized Wally. Richard looked stunned, "Wally, are you drunk?"
The drunk speedster looked at him, when he spoke he slurred his words "No, I'm fine."
Danny spoke, "He's drunk, I would know."
Wally looked at him, "Who's he?"
Richard could barely make out what Wally said, "His name's Danny, and I'm taking you home."
Wally pouted, "Noooo."
Richard rolled his eyes and helped Wally stand since he looked like he was going to fall. Then Danny held something out to him, "Here."
It was a small piece of paper that was folded in half, Richard took it and unfolded it to see a phone number. Danny spoke, "If you don't die taking your friend home and you pass your test then call me."
Richard looked at Danny and smiled, then Wally ruined it, "Richard's got a crush."
Richard glared at Wally and dragged him out of the club, he didn't need Wally to embarrass him in front of Danny. Richard managed to get Wally into his car and Richard started to drive him home, while he was driving Wally seemed to sober up a bit. The speedster spoke, "I'm confused, we went to strip club and you spent all your time talking to a bartender?"
Richard nodded, "Pretty much."
Wally groaned, "You are so lame."
Richard just smiled, it turned out that his night wasn't so bad after all.
