If I open wide,
Wide enough for the stars to shine through,
Can the wind whisk away my screams?
Can it lead the tortured melody without a trace?
Will the winds gentle touch soothe this heart?
And begin to twirl and dance around skin
Can it whisper in its brave presence?
Telling me when the world will end
Can it ease into my ears
So I'll never have to hear
A gunshot in the quiet morning
Or a goodbye from another sick of hearing my fears
Can it devour me whole
In its raging grey anguish
And take me to another place
Where I never have to see again
And overlook this life I blew away.
