Fic title: Deadly Thread.
Y/N's POV
The first motive given to us was the string motive. Commit murder and you and your soulmate go free if you survive the trial. Kill your soulmate and everyone (including the blackened) survives that round but remain captive. If nobody died within the next twenty-four hours, everyone would be executed.
Of course, I was the first to try and stop Monokuma. I placed my foot on his head and squished his fuzzy monochrome face into the floor, swiftly handcuffing him. The Monokubs, who were watching silently from the back of the gym, screamed and howled at me to back off.
"Monokuma, you have the right to remain silent!"
He started beeping.
"I-I said you have the right to remain—!"
"Toss it. Toss it!" Ryoma barked from the back of the crowd.
I quickly kicked the bear away, before he was obliterated in an undoubtably lethal explosion. Another Monokuma popped up, much to the delight of the observing Monokubs.
I stare in fear and hold my taser defensively.
"Upupupu~ Don't get too feisty, there, Y/N. I forgot to mention that if the blackened is caught either found guilty during trial or caught breaking the school rules..." He unsheathed his claws. "Both the culprit and their soulmate will be the blackened."
When the monochrome bear and his cubs disappeared, panic set into the room. I decided to go over to Ryoma to thank him for warning me about the explosion.
"Hey, Ryoma." I smiled down at him. "Thanks for warning me."
He looked me up and down and turned away. "Whatever. It was nothing."
I couldn't help but frown.
I never had a string, so I was kind of immune to this motive. Of course I couldn't see anyone else's string, so maybe I wasn't the only one. I really wanted my soulmate to be Hoshi, but then again, I'd be more hopeful that pigs would fly.
"Hey, Y/N." Ryoma mumbled, turning back to me.
"Yeah, Hoshi?"
Our fellow classmates were beginning to file out of gym while Hoshi and I just conversed, in only each other's presence.
He looked me in the eyes. "I want you to kill me."
"What?!" I exclaimed. "That's... That's ludicrous! I'm no killer, I'm the exact opposite, I—!"
"Listen." He interrupted. "This is very embarrassing to admit but... I have no soulmate. I want you to kill me so you have a chance of living, okay?"
I paused, processing his words. "Wait... you have no soulmate?"
"I know, I know, it's pathetic, but I'm basically free to kill since nobody would care if I was gone, so—"
I don't know why I did what I did next. I kissed him. He seemed extremely startled and I panicked and pulled away.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry, I didn't—"
Then, the string appeared. It was vibrant and red and beautiful and strong and so many other amazing things that I struggled to grasp everything. My thoughts were so loud, so positive, that it crushed the despair that lingered in the room.
He started laughing. "Oh my God, we're soulmates. I can't believe that someone like you and then someone like me are soulmates."
I stared down at him. "Well, I can't kill you now, can I?" I chuckled.
He sighed, and then smiled ever so slightly. "I suppose you can't. I want you to, but you can't."
We paused. Then, I spoke.
"Want to do it again?"

Ryoma's POV
Myself and Y/N eventually had to part ways. I was left monitoring the school for any signs of activity, and soon saw something odd appear.
Y/N L/N beating to death a tied up K1-B0, ripping off his arms and trying to attach them to where his old arms were. They swapped arms with Kiibo and left. Upon further inspection Y/N's old arms were rusting. Did they commit the murder just for that? Or would that be their excuse if they got found out?
No, they weren't getting found out. Not on my watch.
As soon as we got into the trial and Y/N was being found guilty, I stopped everything.
"I am the Mastermind of this killing game and Y/N's lover. Monokuma, if you would be so kind as to axe the other competitors. Spare Y/N, if you would."
Monokuma's grin grew as he took a hammer and this a big red button with it, causing axes to fly down and behead all of the students, aside from Y/N.
Y/N, motified, stepped back.
"Why...?" He whispered. "Why?!"
"I was finally needed in the world to make this new killing game." I murmured. "You know how good it feels to be wanted in a world where you don't even have a soulmate? Of course now..." I stared at him hopefully.
She stared at me, and then the corpses that decorated the room around us.
"You were more than willing to commit murder for a pair of new arms." I tried to joke, but it came out clumsy. He stared at me.
"Why do I still love you?" Was that a smile? Did he just smile at me?
"I wanted you to be the new mastermind so you'd be safe, so even if you did kill me, I would've won. I just wanted you to be happy."
He paused and approached me, kissing me. He was still crying. "I honestly hate how much I love you right now."
