'Clink' the plate went as Toris set it into the drying rack. "So you want me to help you get a job?" I sat in a chair near him my legs crossed, a habit of mine. "Ahuh, I need money so I can go back home." The brunette continued to hand wash the dishes in the sink he hovered. "I see though it's gonna be hard to get one since you don't speak Russian." "There has to be a job that doesn't require speaking!" I moaned flashing a gaze at the newspaper that laid near me. Tragic enough I still couldn't understand a thing but Toris could. He lived with Russia long enough to become well acquainted with the language. The sound of dishes smacking came due to the Lithuanian's quicken pace "Is there anything else that I should look for?" He inquired flicking a fast glance behind. "Hmmmm...." I tapped my finger against a cheek. "Oh! And it has to be close, like walking distance." He nodded "okay"
It had been a week since my arrival and already me and Toris were practically best friends. "Where is everyone by the way?" "World conference. I didn't go cause my friend wasn't going to show up plus I knew you would get lonely without any one here." I crossed my arms smirking "Now Toris me and you both that is a lie. I for one like isolation." "Well if you insist" he sighed. "So who's your friend? Is it your girlfriend~" I teased the older man. The brunette's face flushed as he swung his head around "No it isn't like that. My friend is a GUY for your information." "So are we talking like yaoi?" I smiled at the beautiful thought. "D-Dont be absurd! He is my best friend, and has been ever since we were kids." "You friend zoned him!!! TORIS HOW DARE YOU, YOU PROBABLY CRUSH HIS FEELINGS!! How heartless of you!!" The nation stared at me in a daze, slumped over speechless. It made me laugh, I held my hands out "Don't look so gloom, you know I'm only kidding Toris. Anyway what's his name?" The man returned to doing the dishes regaining his composure "Feliks." "Is he a country?" It seemed like everyone was nowadays. "Yes, he is Poland. We use to hang out all the time when we were younger." "What's stopping you from hanging out with him now?" The Brunette immediately stopped washing, the clinking grew silent. "Toris?" He didn't reply. "hey dude?" Still no response. "U-Um are you alright?" He shook his head "S-Sorry I was just spacing out. We've just been busy lately with our own country's affairs I suppose." I felt like I dragged up bad memories for the nation. Before I could reply the Lithuanian turned off the water wiping his wet hands on his pant. "Done. Now let's take a look at the newspaper." He faced me with a smile.
"Hmm... I don't know if your gonna have much luck to be honest ______." he skimmed through the pages "Most of these require speaking... Cashier, mover, hostess, baby sitter..." I flailed my arms in frustration "Oh come onnnnnnn!!! You're sure there isn't something else?" The Lithuanian held a finger to my face, gesturing for silence "Hold on I think I see something..." I watched his eyes dart left to right when he read the listing. "They say they need a maid, It will be a night time job and you need to clean hotel rooms. They simply hand you a list of the rooms that will need to be fixed and leave you to do the work." Now he looked at me " _____ this sounds perfect for you, well as long as you can read numbers" he chuckled. I hissed flailing my arms "I'm not that stupid!" the brunette smiled "Kidding kidding, anyway," he focused his attention to more serious matters "Do you want me to give this place a call?" I nodded. He grabbed the newspaper walking to the house phone. It was those old ones where you had to pluck a finger in a hole to dial. Toris fell quiet until a minute later which I assumed the employer answered the call.
The brunette didn't return over to me til somewhat 30 minutes later. "So? How'd it go?" He took a seat next to me. "Well I explained to him your situation of being unable to communicate. He said it was no problem and that he wants you to stop by tonight to start. He wants to see if you can do the job right. If you do good tonight you'll be hired." I stared at the Lithuania awed, then I hugged him grateful. "Thank you so much!" He patted my head shocked by my sudden embrace. "Ehe, don't worry about it, it's what I'm here for, though I would appreciate if you didn't crush me so much" the nation winced. Immediately I regained my awesome composure pulling away. "Sorry about that I'm just happy so, thanks a ton!" "No problem, I'll give you directions to the place later."
"Well this is it." I muttered looking up from my map to the hotel that stood in front of me. It wasn't a super fancy place though it was nice, not like the crummy run down ones. I walked in to see a man sitting behind a counter. "Privet," my American accent obvious. Then I handed him a letter Toris wrote for me to give to him. It said something like: 'Hi I'm _____, my friend called you earlier about the job. Im ready to start.' The man had short brown hair with sliming figure. Mr. employer simply nodded heading me a list with rooms to clean and I made my way out.
~La Time skip~
The job was pretty straight forward, get laundry, make beds, clean up garbage and vacuum. I did this for over 30 rooms and I was exhausted. I finished and got home at around 7 a.m. I collasped onto my bed closing my eyes ready to surrender myself to slumber. 'knock knock' a voice called from the other side "Um little one I really hate to wake you but I am running out to town, would you like to come to?" Before I could reply to Ivan, he added with a sense of plea "It would really make me happy if you came." A massive sigh escaped my weary body as I stood up "Sure, I'll be out in a minute."
