Letters They Wrote

Shinomiya had spent the whole day yesterday talking to Riku on the phone. It was something he thought, Riku should know first since Riku was that last person who saw him alive. It was a cruel feeling of the unknown that Riku desperately wanted to know, needed to know. And to learn that all this time, Shinomiya had survived was something Riku couldn't find the words to explain. The closest word to such a feeling was over bliss. They had shared tears, laughed and even endured such danger. Such a bond had developed between the two that through thick and thin, they would always have each other's backs, each other's support, and if needed, would even sacrifice each other's life for the other person.

Hearing Shinomiya's voice was something that filled Riku's heart with joy, "I'm so glad you survived," He said through the sobs on the phone.

"I'm glad that you're alive," Shinomiya said.

But the next questions was something even Shinomiya wasn't prepared for which still lingered in his mind the next morning.

"Whatever happened to Satsuma?"

Laying in bed, Shinomiya stared at his blank ceiling, just before getting up out of bed.

His eyes lingered on the stack of letters on his desk, in which he found himself sitting at the chair and opening up the next set of letters.

Dear Shinomiya,

I hope you are alive and well. The pain of not knowing what happened to you brings me such unbearable pain, that at some point, I had thought I lost you forever. I've been struggling with all kinds of emotions, that I tried to keep all those emotions to myself. In which, I know that is wrong of me. Turns out, everyone is so worried about you! I keep praying to God and all the gods known to man and even the universe itself, that you come home! I know it'll be hard but I have faith you're alive! I just bare to think anything differently. It'll be hard to go back like we all used to be, but I think over time, it'll happen. But no matter what the circumstances are, we all will be waiting patiently for your return. We are a family, and nothing can ever break us apart.

I love you Shinomiya, And I'm still praying for your safe return.

                                                                                                                                        ~Sincerely, Kae Serinuma.

Shinomiya's lips had curled into a smile as his heartbeat send a warm situation to his face. Even though Serinuma's letter was short and to the point, there was a fulfillment in it that filled in the gaps of her memory.

He places the letter close to his heart as he smiled, "Thank you,"

He ripped open the next letter as he read out loud like chanting spells.

Dear Shinomiya,

I pray you're safe and well! We all miss you a great deal over here! Wishing you a safe return! The investigators are doing everything that they can! We even try to help out as much as we can! And even though we are just hoping and praying in the dark, I found saw a light in our darkness. That light was bright and in a form of a human. That light was Riku who gave us all hope that you're still alive. I don't think I can ever imagine what you guys went through, but if Riku has hope and the faith that you survive then so do I. Although you endured so much, I glad Riku was there with you, despite all the worst imaginable scenarios. He has such a big caring heart, and it was his idea for all of us to write letters to you. *Why didn't we think of that!?* Anyway, the time has gone by and we still have gone on with life. But not a day that goes by that we don't think of you.

   Come home safely,

-Iragashi :)

Shinomiya smiled as he wiped a tear, he ripped through the next letter on his desk.

Dear Shinomiya,

I'm usually leveled headed and I keep the peace, but deep down I think I'm panicking. Because I don't know what really is going on anymore. I feel kinda lost in my head and my feelings. There has been an empty void in our lives ever since you were taken that, it makes us all go mad in our own way. At school, I try to remain calm and the same as always but at home, I'm a mess. I've been looking out for Thor for you. This letter might be old by the time you read it, but just know that Thor is alive and well. I decided to do full research and make sure she is good health for your return. Did you know that Iguanas can live up to 10-12 years? Thor will be four soon, so looks like you have plenty of time to spend with her. Thor gets along great with the other pets and she will always have a second home here, so no need to worry because I gave the oath to take special care of her. We are waiting for you, Shinomiya-kun and just know that we all care about you deeply!

                                Sincerely,

                                          Mitsumi <3

Shinomiya smiled, "Thank you Mitsumi, for taking care of Thor for me,".

He ripped open the next letter.

Dear Shinomiya,

A lot has happened these past few months, and I'm not sure how to write this letter. I hope you can understand and forgive me. There is so much I want to ask you, what I want to tell you. But even so, no one it would even matter. It's not like I can ask you, "Why were you taken?" because I'm sure even you don't know the answers. There is an emptiness even inside of me that I don't know how to cope with. But all I can do is hope and pray like everyone else. I try to do something digging of my own, but was caught hacking and the cops let me off with a solid warning. So, even I can't do anything, even if I have money. And I don't want to do anything that might get you into more trouble or danger. It's just a sad long waiting process. But we are all remaining strong in hopes of you're return.  And I am trying my best, to keep everyone's spirits alive even when I'm falling apart. I hope you can understand. I'm looking forward for your return.

Sincerely,

Nishina (^~^)

Shinomiya flipped through the next letter, and the last letter was from Nanashima.

He had tore through the envelop like he did to the rest, but was surprise to see a child's drawn.

The picture was of three stick figures. The one stick figure was in the center which was tall with yellow scribbles for hair, brown dots for eyes, blue thick lines for legs and a red torso for a shirt. The second figure was slightly shorter then the yellow haired figure who had light brown scribbles for hair, gold dots for eyes, yellow scribbles for a shirt and blue thick lines for legs. And next to that figure was a small figure that was more of a circle with little legs and yellow scribbled our tails with blue dots for eyes. The figures stood on a hill next to a tree. Lines of their arms connected with a dot suggesting they were all holding hands. On the top of the paper was a sentence only a child could write.

"Welcome home brother". Something Shinomiya hadn't seen. He had read countless of "I hope" or "I pray" but this one was different. Instead of wishing and hoping for his return he had received a letter welcoming home.

At the button of the picture was signed by no one other then Kairi Nanashima.

There was a letter behind that picture.

Hey Shinomiya,
You're either reading this or not, simple as that, but if you are reading this just know I'm pissed off. I'm fueled with rage that I could kill that fucking bastard! But that wouldn't change anything. I'm not one to talk about my feelings and I don't even want to write this letter. But there are something's I can't explain. If you have to fight then fight with every thing you got! And If you are reading this, then I congratulate you for staying strong.

Welcome home Shinomiya,
    Nanashima

Shinomiya had smiled deeply, all of my wonder friends....

Shinomiya had held all of the letters close to his heart, and place the picture on the wall of his room.

It was then he heard a doorbell ring.

Mrs. Shinomiya had opened the door to a familiar face.

"What can I do for you?" Mrs. Shinomiya asked.

"I know it's not much but my mom made you guys a cake," the familiar voice said.

"Why don't you come in," mrs. Shinomiya said show beamed.

"Your in a good mood Mrs. Shinomiya," the familiar person said as that person handed her the cake.

"Well, all the reason to be in a good mood," she said as she place the cake tray on the table.

"Would it be okay if I visited Shinomiya's room again?" The familiar voice said.

"Of crouse," Mrs. Shinomiya said,"please take your coat and scarf off and visit it for a bit,"

The coat swayed off the shoulders of the medium shoulders as those hands rapped the scarf off of his neck and place his belongs on the coat rack in the hallway. Those foot steps had walked quietly and stopped at the door of Shinomiya's bedroom.

The door opened slowly as Shinomiya turned to face that familiar face.

"Nice to see you," Shinomiya said.
