My name is Jeremy. I'm Seventeen and I am slightly overweight. Just about 70 pounds over. I am a junior at my high school. Nothing special. I have adequate grades. I love to begin my day with some nice breakfast and then make my way to school. I live down the street from the school, so it's so easy to get there. At least I don't have to ride the overheated buses. Especially ones with the basketball team. Ughh, smelly. Especially after practice. They sit in the back. That's where the heaters are. Under their seats. Blowing overheated stench towards the others. Of course, they have no detection of their sense of their own fumes.
So I decided to walk to school. On the way, their people crowd the sidewalks in order to get their kids ready to cross the street to the elementary school. I walk further as I the normal groups on the schoolyard. Everyone dispersed to their friend groups. The only reason they are outside is the doors aren't unlocked until 7:00. They usually try to get there early. I walk further and get to the library's outer door. The librarian opens the door for me. Since I help with the books sometimes she allows me to enter.
I thank her and set my stuff on a random sofa in the room. I then push the book cart around and then sort the books out to their rightful categories. Grims, Rescues, Intimidators, Mysteries, Sacrifices, and other assorted categories. I put the books in their rightful categories and then exit to the halls. I head to the cafeteria and grab some extra snacks. Nothing much but granola bars and Gatorade. I grab 7 minibars and 7 quick drinks. I head down the hall and notice a poster. There's some kind of camping trip this summer. We go to the school's campgrounds for the first month of the summer. I wasn't so sure about it until I saw the ad for the weekly buffet. I grabbed the flier and stuffed it in my backpack.
I was excited. I finished all of my classes as I usually would and I rushed home. Gladly, my mother agreed. The school was over on Friday. So, all I had to do was wait a week. It was so normal throughout the week. On Friday, I walked to the office with my sleeping bag and money ready. I paid the secretary and went to our principal's office. Mr.G was sitting at his desk and looked at me with his haunting glare. Mr.G was the one principle that always gave me chills. There's something about him. He had a sense for creepy and just plain out weird things.
"Hey Mr.G who's hosting the camp out this weekend?"
"Well, I am of course. Strange though only three people actually signed up for it though. Someone seems to have stolen the poster. Too late it seems."
"I'm all ready to go, so where am I supposed to be headed?"
"We were going to take a school bus, but there are only three people taking the trip. Which means we're taking the school van."
I nodded and headed towards the front of the school. I saw the van through the doors. It was colored red and blue like our school. I walked through the front doors and put my bags in the back of the van. I go towards the door when I heard a familiar voice coming from the other side of the van.
"What's up pipsqueak?"
I turn around and see Dwight, the classic high school bully. I felt all hope for this trip drain that instant. He's been picking on me since I was in third grade. He's a plain out jerk. I have no idea why he picks on me. I don't talk to him. Honestly, I try to avoid him, and since I had already paid for the trip I have no choice but to deal with him. I let out a sigh and said,
"Nothing Dwight, Why are you going to this thing? I thought you were supposed to go to hell or something. Like scheduled."
He started to chase but by the time he had reached me Mr.G was there and stopped him dead in his tracks. He gave us a glare and closed the trunk. That's when the door opened. I turned to see Jeffree B. He was the biggest kid in the school. He was about 6,5 and over 280 pounds. He was always eating. Always. Even some of the bullies were afraid for his health. He walked forward and got in the van. The whole thing shook side to side as he got in. Dwight looked at me and said,
"Shotgun,"
I let out a small grunt at him and moved to the other side of the van. He smiled and jumped into the passenger seat. I walked to the other side of the van and hopped in. Out of nowhere Mr.G shows up and turns the ignition on. I knew it was going to take a while and I didn't want to waste it talking with three of the strangest people. I popped in my earbuds and then listened to my music the whole way. Passing forests, houses and a small town till we got to the campgrounds. I hopped out and looked around and saw everything I expected. Cabins, campfire stations and everything you'd expect to be there. I felt as if I might have fun even though the three people I came here with were right behind me.
I dash to the back of the van and grab my bag. I head to the front of the van and meet with the others. I was so excited to be here for a while. We headed to our cabin and put out stuff at our beds. Since there were only three of us we could all have top bunks. Well, except for Jeffree. We headed outside to see what we were supposed to be doing. Apparently, we were the only ones here. Then the camp supervisor told the bad news.
"I'm sorry you are going to have to wait a while for our buffet to be up and running. All we have is water and granola bars. We thought nobody was coming this year so we just stocked upon regular snacks. Follow me for a quick snack. Wait, Where's the adult that's supposed to be here with you?"
We turn around and see that Mr.G is gone.
"He does that a lot. We just get used to it."
The supervisor looked at us puzzlingly and gestured towards the pantry. I open the door to a completely empty pantry.
"What's going on here? Is this a joke? You're playing us, aren't you? Where's all of our food?"
"SHIT! The animals got in again! I'm sorry kids, You're welcome to leave if you wish. We have nothing else for you to be able to eat until the end of the week."
We walked back to the cabin. I was the only one who decided to speak up.
"Well, we gotta find Mr.G. He is the only one here who is allowed to drive us. Let's go the van."
We grab our stuff and head towards the van. Then we see the light of the van flicker with a little blip sound. I walk up to the van and pull on the door handle. It's locked. I look over at Jeffree and see he isn't happy.
"We have to walk up the path to the city."
"Are you stupid? Its several miles to the roads," Dwight snaps.
"Got any other ideas? If we can get to the city we can go to a hotel and be able to eat food," I reply.
"How? Mr.G's got the only map of the paths. We don't know where he is, and it's going to take a long time to walk the trails without any food," Dwight responded.
"Damn, you're right. We'll stay in the cabins till Mr.G returns. I don't know how long we'll be without food, though."
The sunset a few hours later. I got ready for bed and laid down for bed. It was quiet. Till there was a scream. I jumped down from the top bunk. I ran over to Dwight, who was fast asleep. I shook him awake. He looked at me with a half-awake dazed look.
"What?"
"There was a scream."
Ten minutes later we are at the supervisor's cabin. Dwight slowly opens the screen door and looks inside.
"Dude it's trashed, and the supervisors gone." Dwight whispers to me.
We walk in and look around some more. There's the supervisor's stuff everywhere. I look over at the back door.
"Is that blood?" I ask. He turns and nods. We walk slowly over towards the door. Then We see the supervisor. Crouching down and coughing up blood. We open the door and he looks at us.
He screams, "No! You need to get away! He's gone mad!"
He raises his fist to show that he no longer has fingers. Just blood running down his stump hand. We open the door and go back in.
"What does he mean 'he went crazy'? Who went crazy. This whole thing looks like a big mistake. I--" Dwight screams before he was cut off by the front door slamming.
I look over and see no one. We decide to back out the back door. The counselor is gone. There is a pool of blood where he was sitting. I freak out. I pass out.
I wake up. There seem to be dirt walls. I'm in a cave of some sort. I look around and see a table on the ceiling. Wait, I'm upside down. I can't move my feet. I'm tied up. Something is behind me but I can't turn to see what it is. It's the sound of the rope cutting. I fall and hit my dead on the floor. I still can't move my arms. They're tied up. I look and see him. Jeffree. His face is covered in blood. I look and see the supervisor. His head is down and he is unconscious. He walks up to me and duct tapes my mouth.
"There's food now. A lot of fresh meat. I will eat it all. Then make a stew from your bones."
The supervisor wakes up. He freaks out. But his mouth is taped shut. Jeffree turns around and grabs a knife off the table. He walks up to the supervisor and sticks the blade into his stomach. Then slowly pulls it to the other side. I try to scream, but my sounds are suppressed. I close my eyes for a moment. As I open them I see him eating some of the supervisors. I vomit, but the mouth is covered. I swallow and cry. Jeffree stands up. Turns to me and starts closing in.
