The couple sat in the bathroom waiting.
" I hope you are, we worked really hard on this one.. like super hard" he smiled at her
" shhh" she said " I'm not gonna lie I'm kinda nervous for this one.."
" yea.. like it's the third time we tried and it hadn't work.." he said
" I know.." she said " we got pregnant so fast the last time"
" that's because we didn't mean for it to happen.." he said
She chuckled " i wish it was that easy"
" I know.." he said
The timer went off
" you look at it" she said
" okay.." he got up
And picked up the test
And sighed and shook his head
She sighed and got up
" it's okay.." he said holding her shoulder
" I'm fine Austin, it's fine.." she smiled " we have our daughter's birthday party today, I have no time to be upset about this."
" okay.. I don't want you to be"
" really.. I'm fine.." she said " we can't worry about this.. we have a big afternoon ahead of us."
She walks out the bathroom and he followed her
And into the bedroom
Ava sat up from their bed and yawned
" hi baby" Ally said
" hi" Ava said back
" did you have a good nap?" She asked picking her up and snuggling her " you have the biggest party ever waiting for you.. and all your baby friends are there and Daddy, and aunties and uncles, and grandmas and grandpas.."
" and lots of cake and presents.. presents the best part sweetie." Austin came in
" and family." Ally reminded him
" right." He said
" Austin can you please check on everything downstairs and make sure everything is okay?" She asked " I should get her ready"
" okay.." he said getting up before leaving he gave Ally a kiss on the forehead that made her smile
" okay Ava let's take a bath" she said to her daughter
Ava splashed around playing her her toys happily
As Ally watched her she sighed
" something told me to come in and comfort a little baby" she heard a voice
" mom" Ally said
" how are you sweetheart" Penny asked
" good.."
They both looked at Ava
" she's so cute really.. she's looking more like Austin these days.." Penny said
" you think so?"
" yea.. so what's bothering you?" Penny asked
" nothing.. just first birthday stuff.. she's growing up too fast.. it's also freaking me out that there are people in my house. That are.. making messes"
" you are too much like me Ally." Penny said
" I am.." Ally said
" mama"Ava said handing her a toy
" thank you" Ally said
" isn't that a great feeling knowing she knows your her 'mama' Penny asked
Ally nodded " amazing.. she knows exactly who each person is now.. she gets so excited when she sees her daddy.. it's so cute really, she loves her aunty Trish and uncle Dez so much which makes me happy.. she's out of that stranger danger phase.. well she does see them almost everyday"
" so what's really bothering you.. today should be the best day ever.."
" I guess I'm really sad she's growing up... mom can I ask you something.." Ally said
" what is it?"
" how did it feel when you and dad couldn't have anymore kids after me?" Ally asked
" sad at first, but we are thankful for the baby we have.. because you are amazing.." Penny said " is that what's bothering you?"
" okay.. yea.. Austin and I are trying to have another baby.. and it's not working" Ally admitted " I'm kinda sad about it.. and I don't want him to see me sad about it.. because then he'll be sad and I don't want him to be sad because it will make me more sadder that he's sad and it's not good!"
She wiped her tear
" oh Ally.. it will happen.. listen baby making isn't easy." Penny said
" but we had her so easily. I thought it would have been that easy the second time.." Ally said
" sweetheart, if you think just because you two conceived to easily the first time, doesn't mean it will happen fast the second time" Penny said
" what if I can't have any more.." Ally said
" sweetie don't say that.. and don't give up.. okay.. now no more tears okay it's your daughters special day you don't want her to see you upset" Penny said
" okay.. you're right." Ally said
" talk to your husband.. you can't be afraid to be sad in front of him.. communicating is key to a beautiful marriage." Penny said
" you're right" Ally said
" i love you.." Penny said kissing her forehead

" and I love you too birthday girl.." Penny said
Ava blew a kiss
" what? When did she learn that???" Penny gasped
" we taught her that" Ally said

" everything looks so perfect!!" Austin said " perfect.."
" it does.. I can't believe she's one! I'm so emotional!!" Trish said

" you're welcome, you owe me a thousand bucks" Trish said

The whole yard was decorated for the birthday party.. even the pool, and soon the place would be filled with guests ready to celebrate Ava's first birthday
" it's too bad Dez and Carrie couldn't be here right now before the party started"
" I heard she's got it really bad"
" they'll be here later.." Austin said " I'm gonna go check on the girls.. be right back"
He rushed upstairs and into Ava's room
Where he found his mom, Ally's mom and Ally taking pictures of Ava
" hey Alls" He said
" hey.. how's it going?" She asked
" good can't wait for you to see it.." he said " she looks beautiful"
" thanks" ally bragged " I picked it out my self want our daughter to look amazing for her first birthday.. I was thinking we redo her room.. now she's not a 'baby baby' anymore.. make it less a nursery's d she needs a play room!"
" woah woah.. one thing at a time!" He said to her " come with me."
He took her hand
" Ally I have a surprise for you, I know it's her birthday, but I want to give you a gift too.." he reached into his pocket
" why.." she asked confused
" because" he smiled " you're kinda special and you're an amazing wife and an even more amazing mother.. couldn't have done this year without you"
He gave her a small box " open it"
She opened the box and it had a really beautiful ring
" Aww Austin.. I love it you're so sweet thank you" she smiled hugging him
He smiled " look what it says on the inside"
" we love you mommy" she said " aww"
" it's true we love you. Ava and I picked it out" he said
He gave her a kiss and a hug " I love you sweetie"
Her expression changed " I love you too" she said softly

The party started and the guests where at their house
With young kids running around and adults chatting
Lester of all people showed up with a huge box he couldn't carry with his girlfriend Sandy.
" Dad is that you?" Ally said
" yes.." he said out of breath
" is that your gift for Ava?"
" yes.. where are the gifts?" He said " I need to set this down and get her other ones"
" oh my god" Austin said looking at Ally
" I know.." she said completely shocked with her father showering Ava with gifts
" Daddy, out of curiosity.. don't take this to offense, but you got her so many gifts.. how come I didn't get any gifts like that when I was a kid" Ally asked
" because it's his granddaughter grandparents tend to spoil their grandchildren more than their actual ones.." Penny said

" Penelope" sandy said
" not my name" Penny said
" anyways Allison thank you for having us.." sandy said
" actually it's just Ally."
" would have been Allison but her father is too cheap" Penny said
" that's why I'm making it up!" Lester said

Mimi and mike approached them
" I have the cutest granddaughter in the world!!" Mimi said holding Ava " happy birthday"
" you two made such a beautiful little girl" mike said
" thanks.." ally said " are you guys enjoying the party?"
" oh yes.. and i hope you don't mind her gift is coming a little later" Mimi said

" so when will you two start planning for baby number 2?" She added
" uhh.. uh.." Ally said looking at Austin

" coming Trish!" Ally said speeding off

" yea.. you know it's her daughter's first birthday people wanna talk to the proud mommy you know how that goes" Austin said

Austin looks over at Ally who was now speaking with Trish
" I thought Dez and Carrie would be here by now"
" apparently they have a huge gift and their usual parking spot here was taken.. Dez is really upset about it.. so now their walking to the gate" Trish said
" who. Took. MY spot!" Dez said
" Dez! Carrie!" Austin said " finally"
" who took my spot that always is between Austin's white and blue car!!" Dez said
" I don't know!!" Austin said " I'm sorry dude, there's a billion people here"

Dez felt his spine shiver it was that voice
" chuckles"

" last time I saw you was at my wedding"

" we got a divorce, turns out she's pregnant with another man's baby.. the two timing she devil" chuck said

" Carrie hows the pregnancy?" Ally asked
" oh god it's awful! Really awful! I can't keep anything down.. is this what you had to go through" Carrie asked
" yes, it gets better I promise, then you're tired and grumpy.. and gassy.. but also you feel your baby move around in you and you get the cutest little bump and your husband treats you like a queen.. and it's all worth it in the end when you hold your little baby in your arms and they look into your eyes and suddenly their one and..."
" uhh.. I haven't reached that stage yet I'll let you know how that goes!!" Carrie said
Ally felt something tugging at her
" mama" Ava cried holding her hands up
" of course" she picks her up " you're a little overwhelmed huh?"
" there you two are!!" Austin said " come on let's go open gifts"
They all sat down while Ava sat on her mothers lap as Austin helped opened gifts
Which consisted of many clothes
Toys and more toys
" open mine!" Lester said
" no open mine!" Penny said
" I'm curious to see what my dad got her open his first"
" bet it's giraffe paintings" Dez teased
Austin tore the wrapping paper off
" it's a doll house!" Ally said " oh my god it's beautiful!!"
" I made it my self.. took me eight months" Lester said
" this is.. awesome!" Austin said impressed

" open my moms now" Ally said
" it's a jewelry box!" She said
" it plays music! I got it to play that song you two wrote her"

" oh my God.." Ally gasped " your parents did not just get her a"
" a horse" the moons said
Some guy pulled a gorgeous Whitehorse that had a pink bow on it
Ally nearly faints
" oh my god!" Austin said
" come here sweetie come meet Luna" mike picked Ava up and placed her on the horse
She got really excited and giggled and laughed hugging the horse
" aww" Austin said " Ally that's pretty damn cute"
" there's a horse in my backyard.. there's a horse in my back yard there's a horse in my back yard there's a horse in my back yard" she said closing her eyes " it's all in my head.. when I open my eyes there's not gonna be a horse in my back yard"
Austin looked at her strangely
She opened her eyes " there's a horse in my backyard.. Austin"
" shh. Relax weirdo.. she's having fun" he grabbed her shoulders
She started breathing in and out and looked at Ava as she was riding the horse carefully with help of course.
" my child is on a horse..my child is on a horse..my child is on a horse..my child is on a horse.." she said getting back into that trans
" Oh Ally" he said smiling holding her close

" okay y'all it's time for the birthday girl to blow out her candles!!" Austin said
" already?" Ally said
" yes already!" He said " let's all sing her happy birthday" he picked up his guitar
And strummed
" happy birthday to you!" He sang then everyone else joined in
" happy birthday dear Ava, happy birthday to you!!"
" and many more!" Dez yelled out
Austin and ally blew out her candles quickly and took them off
" we did it" he said looking at her
" we did, didn't we" she smiled
He nodded
They looked down at their not so little baby devouring her little cake
"Oh god." She said " just another mess to clean up"
" mmmm" He said " this cake rocks! Try some" he said putting a handful into Ally's mouth
" Austin!" She said " mm this is good!"

After the guest had left and it was already night
They sat down watching Ava playing with her toys she got mostly the baby dolls
" she loves baby dolls.." he said
" oh yea she does.. gives me so many ideas for her playroom.. we'll have a corner for all her babies.. and then her other toys and of course shelves for her books!!" She said
" pfft nerd" he said
Ava went over to the baby grande piano that Dez and Carrie had gotten her
" Trish have gotten her so much clothes, surprisingly no animal print." Ally said
" oh yea.. thank god... just really pretty expensive dresses that she has to wear per Trish's request"
" had fun?"
" I had a lot of fun.." she said " so much"
" me too" he said " she had fun too"
" we forgot to have her open our gifts with all the excitement today" he said
" you're right" she said
" she might not appreciate this right now, but I'm sure she'll love it" he said taking out the box
" here baby" Ally said
He sits Ava down on to her lap " we got you locket with an " A" on it.."
" and a bracelet.. very VERY expensive so if you ruin them you're grounded" she said
He laughed " we also got you a huge playground that Daddy has to build tomorrow"
" Yes Daddy is gonna build it So first thing in the morning you can play..but if he fails then mommy has to have people fix daddies mistake for him.. just like with your crib"
" I said I was sorry!" He said
" anyway mommy and daddy loves you very much.. I hope you had the best first birthday ever"
Ava whined tiredly rubbing her eyes
" yea it's time for bed" she said " come on sweetie"
Again ally found herself in the bathroom giving Ava a bath for the second time which was rare, but since she was all dirty from cake and dirt and that horse.. she had no other choice
She couldn't get what Mimi said out of her head about having another baby.. and what her own mother said, and what Carrie said.
" hey I came in to check on my two favorite girls" he said
She smiled at him
" what's wrong?" He asked
" nothing.. it's just I'm a bit tired" she said
" okay.. you want me to finish with her and you can go lie down" he said
" I'm fine.." she said
" okay..." he said
After Ally puts her daughter to bed and looked into the crib and sighs
And leaves shuts the door behind her
" hey I was just gonna kiss her goodnight." Austin said bumping Into her
She smiles " try not to wake her. I'm gonna go take a shower"
She tries to walk off but he grabs her wrist
She looks at his hand then at him
" Ally what's wrong?" He asked " there's something bothering you.. and don't lie to me, I know when you're upset.. I know you too well.. is it about this morning"
She took her hand away
" talk to me." He said " come on.."
She sighs " yes it is okay.. among other things."
She walks down the hall and into the bedroom
And sits down
" hey.." he said " what's the one thing you always preach to me?"
" I'm not in the mood" she said
" Ally" he said
She rolls her eyes and sighs " that no matter how big or small the problem is we have to talk about it.. because communication is key to a happy marriage" she mumbled
" you are so cute." He sat down by her " now tell me what's bothering you"
" it's just.. I didn't think it would be that hard.. we had Ava so fast with out even trying, why now when we are actually trying to have a baby it won't work... i thought it was something wrong with me.. and then my mom talks to me about it I thought I felt better and I didn't. I tried to not think about it all day and you give me this ring" she said looking at it
" and I felt even worse.. because I know you want another child, and it's just not happening. And then your mom asked if we are having another baby and Austin I just wanted to cry.." she teared up..
" and then Carrie comes in and she's pregnant and telling me everything she's going through and I miss when i was going through it" she said " and then my dad is getting Ava this huge gift and your parents got her that damn horse I nearly caught a heart attack seeing her on that thing" she whined
He pulled her into a hug " it's okay.." he said softly " looks like you had a rough day"
" I did" she said " it's supposed to be a happy day, I mean we accomplished the biggest achievement first time parents could ever go through.. our baby turned one.. and she's alive and she's happy and healthy and I wish we didn't took that test this morning.. maybe I would have enjoyed it a bit more" she said
" And Im very sad about it! I didn't want to worry you, which is why I didn't say anything about it..I didn't want you to be sad then Ava would have two sad parents at her birthday"
" I knew it bothered you.. sweetie I know when your happy, upset, mad.. you are so damn expressive" he chuckled " I didn't want to say anything to you because I didn't want you to cry.. which is why I wanted to talk to you this morning to get it all out"
" that would not have work" she said
" I know that now.." he said " I'm sorry.. I put too much pressure on you to have another baby.. so soon."
" maybe that's it.. we are putting to much pressure on this baby making thing.." she said
" yes maybe we are. By the way there's nothing wrong with you.. okay.. and yes I'm sad, but don't be afraid to talk to me about it.. it was you that made up that stupid communication thing."
She nodded " I feel like I need to cry.. I've been holding it in all day, between everything that happened my little girl is growing up"
" you need a moment?" He asked smiling at her
" no! You're gonna hold me when I'm crying! I don't need a moment.." she said
" woah."
" please?" She said softly
" okay.." he said
He lied down " come here" he said opening his arms
She sniffles and went into his arms and cried
" you smell like that.. damn horse" she said
" I was riding it" he said
" please get that out by the morning!" She said " I don't wanna see it"
He laughed
" it's not funny!" She whimpered
" do you know how much i love you" He said
" if you love me get rid of it!"
" nah it's fun"
" babe!" She cried
He hugged her and kissed her forehead
He drew small circles on her back
" please take a shower.. you smell so bad" she said
" hey you know what the best part about birthday parties?" He asked
" what?" She asked getting up to wipe her remaining tears
" left over cake." He said " it will make you feel better"
She smiled " yea I could eat some cake right now.."
" also the baby is sleeping.."
" I'm not gonna have sex with you." She said
" no..!! I mean she won't wanna eat from us..!! Like she always does" he said
" you're right!" She said
" let's go.." he said
" take a damn shower!!" She said " then we can eat some cake"
