Dear Connor Deger,
Since the day I met you I have been wondering, how do I overcome this fear. This fear that keeps me from telling you how I feel. This fear that I can't escape from because I am constantly reminded how people like me are treated. I need to overcome this fear so that I can tell you what you really mean to me.
How the kindness you show to people you don't know, and the way you stand up to those that are mean to another person, no matter who they are, reminds me that there is still hope for me. The day I met you, it was like there was suddenly a light at the end of this black tunnel that I never thought I would escape.
You have probably seen me around school, then again maybe not, I tend to try and disappear into the mob of people we call classmates. I try to hide who I am from others because I always feel like they will not except me for who I really am beneath my outer persona.
I'm the student that does well in school but no one knows because they don't bother to ask. The person that spends their weekends doing everything they think will make them better, so that when they show everyone who they truly are, they might be accepted. The person that know the name of every person in school, but no one seems to know theirs. The person that never thinks someone else will ever like them because of what they are.
While I may be all those things, I don't think that you are everything people make you out to be either. People say that you are this hotshot football player that has amazing grade, and nothing to worry about. I think that, while you are an amazing football and great student, you worry that you will not meet everyones standards. That you will eventually not be good enough, and that people will never see the you that likes to listen to the peace and quite of the woods while strumming your guitar(yes I was the person that dropped their show in the water), or the you that spends an entire weekend re-reading the entire Harry Potter series for the umpteenth time. We both put up an image for other people to see, and that is why I know I have to tell you this.
My name is Ammo Eve, and I am gay, and have been in love with you for a while now because you are different than any other person I have ever met. I hope that by me sending you this letter, I can show you the real me that is hidden behind books, black hoodies, and fears.
With hope for a future together,
Ammo Eve
