Kelly was up bright and early. To be more specific, 7:00. "Wakey wakey sleepy head!" Kelly whispered to Maddie. Maddie groaned and threw a pillow at her. "No...." She mumbled and drifted back to sleep.
Kelly showered and got dressed. She picked a purple and pink floral top with some black skinny jeans. It was probably one of her best outfits.
She had to be at the meeting at 2:45. It was now 8:56. She went down to the dining hall and grabbed some biscuits for her and Maddie. She ate her meal and brought back the other biscuit for Maddie. She left it on a napkin on her desk and left to go see Prince.
"Heyyy Prince!" At the sound of her voice Prince poked his head out over the stall door. She rubbed his nose. "Sleep well?" She giggled as he nibbled on her shirt. She fastened him into the crossties again and brushed him down. She picked his hooves out and let him go back into his stall. She gave him some hay and some more water. Once she was sure he was okay, she made her way to the indoor arena for the meeting.
On the glass doors was a sign. "Meeting moved to outdoor arena." Kelly shrugged and follow the directions. There were no chairs in the outdoor arena... Maybe they would be standing? There was no one there... Not even Mr. Conor. She checked her phone. It was now 3:00. Meeting should be starting.
At 3:07 she went back to the indoor arena.
Everyone was inside! Sitting down listening to Mr. Conor! Her mouth fell open. She burst inside. Everyone stared at her. "You're late." Mr. Conor scolded. "T-there was a sign on the door that said-" "No excuses! Take a seat." She obeyed. When she passed the row Meagan was in she looked at her and whispered,"Oops."
It had been Megan's note! She tricked her!
Her face turned hot. She sat in the back and listened.
"As I was saying, there will be team tryouts. There are 3 different levels. There's beginner, intermediate, and Advanced. After advanced you go onto the YENT []Youth Equestrian National Team[] and so on." He explained. "You will be tested to see which level you belong on. Students who were here last year have already been tested and secured a spot on their teams."
Megan and her posse had made intermediate last year, they would not need to test. "No rider goes straight to advanced. They go to beginner or intermediate. The next seasons tryouts is when they will try for advanced, and the advanced will move onto the YENT."
Kelly listened intently until the meeting was over. On the way out, she bumped into a girl with dark colored hair and mocha colored skin. "Sorry!" They said at the same time. "I'm Callie." "Kelly." They had talked all the way to the stable.
Kelly met Callie's horse, Black Jack, Jack for short, and Callie met Prince. "Aww he's so adorable! He's so pretty!" Callie exclaimed.
Prince was a Blue Roan, blanketed Appaloosa Thoroughbred. Black Jack was a black quarter horse with the cutest blaze.
Callie and Kelly exchanged numbers. "Well I better go, see ya!" Callie said. "Bye." Kelly replied. The girls went their separate ways.
Kelly texted Maddie.
Kelly:
Big news 2 tell 4 when I get back.
Maddie:
ooohhhh Xciting
Kelly sprinted back to Orchard Hall. She swung the door open and threw it shut behind her.
"Ughhhh!" She screamed.
Maddie came running in from the bathroom.
"Details!"
Kelly told Maddie all about Meagan's sabotage.
"That's HORRIBLE!!!" Maddie shouted
"And who got in trouble? ME!"
