Thomas's POV
I woke up and opened my eyes, instantly feeling the soft bed underneath me. When I rolled over I could see Y/N sleeping on the bunk directly across from me. Although her back was to me, I could tell her shoulders were shaking slightly.
I quietly got out of bed and gently laid next to her. I heard her gasp as I wrapped my arm around her stomach, pulling her back into my chest. She looked over her shoulder at me and my heart sank seeing the tears streaming down her cheeks.
"It's going to be okay," I whispered so only she could hear. She turned around so our noses were inches apart.
"How do you know that?" I opened my mouth to respond, but she cut me off. "I just. . . I can't explain it but I have this weird feeling that there is something they aren't telling us. And. . . And I'm scared, Thomas."
I pulled her into my chest, wrapping my arms tightly around her as she buried her face in my shirt. "You're safe, Y/N."
"I don't trust them, Thomas. Every time that Janson guy looks at me, I feel like he is plotting something," she said as she started to shake in my arms.
I reached down, putting my finger under her chin, tilting it up, making her look at me. With my thumb, I quickly caught a tear as it streamed down her cheek.
"I promise I am not going to let anything happen to you. I would rather be thrown back into the Glade with no memories than let them hurt you."
I looked down at her lips before looking back up at her eyes. As if in slow motion, I leaned down as she tilted her head up. A bolt of electricity went through my body as our lips connected.
Our lips slowly started to move in sync as I rolled over so she was lying on top of me. I slid my hands down her back causing her to shiver. We pulled away when neither one of us could breathe.
We didn't break eye contact as I slowly rolled us back over onto our sides. "Thomas, I. . ." Her voice came out soft.
"I love you, Y/N." Her eyes widened slightly at my confession. "I've loved you since the moment I came up in the box and my eyes instantly fell on you."
"The only reason your eyes fell on me was because I was the only girl," she smiled, a blush rising to her cheeks.
"You were and still are the first person I think about when I wake up," I smiled as I tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. "And the last person I think of each night before I go to bed."
Y/N scanned my face before leaning forward and pressing her lips to mine. "I love you too," she whispered with our foreheads pressed together.
*****
The next morning, we were woken to the sound of snickering. I opened my eyes and instantly saw the guys huddled together, laughing to themselves.
I looked down to see Y/N asleep, resting her head on my chest. I smiled as she started to wake up. I watched as her eyes fluttered open. She smiled when she saw me looking down at her.
"Morning," she whispered, her voice still laced with sleep.
"Morning," I smiled.
"Morning."
We looked over to see Frypan, Minho and Newt looking at us with knowing smirks. I looked back at Y/N to see her cheeks were burning. I sat up and cleared my throat as I got out of her bed.
"Morning," I nodded.
You could feel the awkwardness as we headed to the showers. We went to the men's showers while Y/N walked the other way towards the women's.
Before she walked in, she looked over her shoulder and sent me a soft smile.
"So," Newt cleared his throat. "What happened between the two of you last night?"
I looked around to see all of the other guys smirking at me. "It's not what you think," I sighed as I walked into the bathroom with them at my heels. "I woke up and she was having a nightmare so I laid down next to her to help her calm down. We both fell asleep like that."
"Mhhmm," Minho sent me a look before walking into one of the showers.
I rolled my eyes as I walked into one of the open stalls.
*****
I walked into the cafeteria with the guys right behind me. I stopped in the doorway and scanned the room. My heart started to beat faster the longer it took me to find Y/N.
"Everything okay, Thomas?" Newt asked. I turned around to see everyone looking at me strangely.
"I can't find Y/N." The boys looked behind me, their eyes widening after they couldn't find her either.
"That's not like her to take long," Frypan mumbled.
"I'm sure she's fine. She probably let a few other girls go first," Newt tried to soften the tension.
Without another word, I started walking over to Aris and one of the girls from his maze. "Hey, have you seen the girl we came in with? Her name is Y/N. She has Y/C eyes and Y/C hair."
"Oh yeah," the girl smiled. "She's the one that always lets the younger girls go first."
"Yeah," I said feeling a little relieved that she knew who I was talking about.
"That guy Janson took her. Something about needing a few more tests," she shrugged. My eyes widened as all the oxygen was sucked out of my lungs.
"Thanks," I mumbled. "I guess."
"Thomas? Are you okay?" Aris asked.
"Yeah," I stuttered unable to ignore the pit in my stomach starting to grow. I quickly turned on my heel and walked back to our table.
"Have they seen her?" Winston asked.
"They said that Janson took her to run some more test," I mumbled.
"Isn't that good?" Frypan asked.
"I guess," I stuttered. I went through all of breakfast watching the door, waiting for Y/N to walk in.
My heart stopped when I saw her being escorted down the hallway. "Y/N," I called out making everyone, including Y/N, look at me. She tried to walk into the cafeteria, but the two men grabbed her and continued to lead her down the hallway.
"Wait!" I yelled. I stood up and ran across the room, towards the door Y/N was trying to walk through.
"Hey hey hey," one of the guards said as he stopped me.
"Where are they taking her?" I asked.
"They just have to run a few more test," he said gently. "Don't worry, they'll be done with her soon."
"Is she okay?" I asked, looking behind him at Y/N's retreating form.
"She's fine," he nodded making me look back at him. I hesitated before heading back to the table.
*****
They had just finished listing off the names and Y/N was still not back yet.
"Okay, until we know anything for certain, we should just keep our heads down and try not to draw any attention to ourselves." Newt said looking around the table.
I ignored him and quickly stood up. "What is he doing?" I heard Newt sigh behind me.
"I think he's drawing attention to himself," Frypan said as everyone got ready to stand up.
I tried to follow the other group of kids but the guy noticed me. "Hang on," he said putting his hand on my chest, stopping me. "You weren't called."
"I'm just going to be a second," I said as I tried to walk past him.
"Listen," he said stopping me again. "This is a restricted area, kid."
I took a few deep breaths to calm down. "I just wanna see my friend. Can you let me through?"
"Get your ass back in that chair," he said using his index finger to push me back.
I looked between him and his buddy before turning on my heel. I took a few steps away from them before quickly turning around and trying to run past them.
The guy easily caught me and threw me back. I heard the guys run up behind me as I caught myself before I could fall. I stood up and pushed him. "What's your problem, man? What the hell, huh?"
"Back off!" He yelled as he pushed me back again. Newt and the rest of the guys easily caught me.
"Why won't you let me see her?!" I yelled as they pulled me back a few steps.
"Control your friend!" He yelled as Newt pulled me further away.
"What's happening here?" Janson asked as he ran over, stepping between us. He looked at me, looked at the guard and then looked back at me again.
"Thomas," he sighed. "I thought we could trust each other. You know we're all on the same team here."
I looked down at his hand that was resting on my shoulder. "Are we?" I asked.
Janson looked at me then looked behind me at the guys before taking his hand off my shoulder.
"Get them to their bunks."
